Action-Adventure Legendary/Paramount/Capcoms’ Street Fighter film

A Street Fighter Alpha setting was the best way to go, but it seems clear they aren't doing that with the two leads being in their early to late 30s during filming.

I'm somewhat familiar with SF lore but are Ryu and Ken supposed to be in their martial arts peaks in SFII the animated movie?

Yeah because what everyone wants to see in a Street Fighter movie is Akuma as the main villain because “we need to save Bison for the sequel.”

Ugh.

To be fair Akuma has been prominent in the last few SF games. He is not an unknown villain and has a connection to a few of the characters.

He is certainly worthy enough to be a main villain in an SF movie. He should be getting played by a Japanese actor though. Not a struggling to act wrestler.

Pretty much. And looking for their next challengers and anticipating their next encounter/fight with each other.

Or they invent a completely new character for their lead ala Mortal Kombat and really piss everyone off.
There's really some cool characters in Street Fighter VI.

I would be surprised if they adapt the newer ones, including SFV and SFIV.

Ugh.

Akuma is more popular than Bison. There is a reason why Koei Tecmo chose Akuma for Tekken 7 to satisfy contractual obligations over anyone else. And why Akuma has been DLC for the past few games.

Akuma is basically the evil variant of Ryu. Bison isn't very fluid as playable character.

Evil Ryu is the evil variant of Ryu....

Shotos are just Street Fighter's ninjas.

This was the guy who posted the news about Koji and Centineo being in talks for the film back in April.

I mean this project was doomed when they signed Roman Reigns to be Akuma, but damn they couldn’t pick a sexy and talented person of Latin descent to be Vega?!

Nicholas Alexander Chavez was literally right there:

Balrog deserves better. Goggins playing the other Vega is okay.

I’ll stick with the animated movie and Assassin’s Fist. The latter is a great example of how to do Street Fighter in live action.

As a Latino, Vega being played by someone from South Africa pisses me off greatly.

I can't figure out if this movie is going to be a serious attempt at adapting Street Fighter or its going to be some low budget cash grab. And all of the live action SF adaptions have been trash, so they really shouldn't try to give us another one of these unless they are going to put real effort into it.

Good lord, for a movie adaptation of a video game franchise prided on it’s diversity and multiculturalism, this is the whitest MAGA-approved cast I’ve ever seen in a film of this type.

The f**king Fast and Furious franchise, the epitome of mindless popcorn blockbuster entertainment, is more diverse and progressive than this.

Miss me with this s**t.

To think we missed out on the Phillippou’s directing this. What could have been.

And from just the little tidbits and snippets of info from the interviews we got of them about their working on the film, I can tell it absolutely would’ve been a faithful and respectful adaptation of the source. But, apparently, Capcom doesn’t want that. Wouldn’t be surprised if there was some behind-the-scenes drama and conflict that made them leave the project.

According to Sneider, Andrè would play the ring announcer in the film.

Still, weird cast, Hoping that Apocalyptic Horseman saying Goggins turned down Bison is true.

Are we sure Orville is playing Vega? Because if he, I 100% believe they only cast him because he’s known for wearing a mask lol.

On the other hand, maybe Orville being in this will cause Roman Reigns to drop out because I’m sure that stupid MAGAt doesn’t want to stand within 500 yards of a a gay person out of fear that he’ll catch gayness.

Not confirmed yet, but Sneider reported he was to play Vega if he signed on.
