Honestly, I have no idea.

As much as I dislike how he ran 20th Century Fox, Tom Rothman is a Democrat and staunchly anti-Trump, even so far as to sue Trump for trying to have him removed from the board of the CPB, which also came around the same time that the executive order was signed into law to defund NPR and PBS and any branch under CPB for promoting liberal bias. Maybe that has something to do with it, although the CPB has more to do with the broadcasting and telecommunication side of things. Could be a case of it being used to strong arm Sony into hiring more white actors.

Also worth noting, the current director was hired about a month after Trump got into office and casting and everything started kicking off a few months later on May 21st, not even a month after executive order was signed. Also, don’t forget the removal of DEI policies that was signed into law on January 21st, which could also explain the weird casting situation.

It’s probably just coincidence, but the timing seems a little sus. I don’t know. Maybe I’m seeing things that aren’t there.

He looks more like Guile than Van Damme did, but can he do a Flash Kick?

As for Dastmalchian as M. Bison, probably the first casting after Andrew Koji as Ryu that really gets my attention. Obviously Raul Julia is an incredibly hard act to follow (say what you will about the 1994 movie, but Julia was clearly giving it his all and is easily the best part of that film), but Dastmalchian is a good actor.
