Sequels Legendary Pictures & Thomas Tull Think Superman Sequel

Showtime listen to me. Iron Man isn't like Transformers and Shia isn't as good as Downey Jr.

I'd liken it more to the first two Spider-Man movies than Transformers. I think that you and your gal will like it. I'm not gauranteeing that or anything but I think that ya'll will.

I think we will as well. Thanks.

IRON MAN is very entertaining. It's about what you'd expect from an Iron Man origin story. It's not really all that much "deeper" than TRANSFORMERS, though the concepts may be more interesting in terms of their social relevance. The performances are on the same level. I'd call what Shia did with his material similar to what Tony Stark did with his. Both actors elevated their roles and a fairly average script.

I think it should be fun, I guess I shouldn't act like I hated Transformers, it was highly entertaining and I thought the effects were solid. I had huge expectations for the movie for some reason.

I liked both TF and Iron Man....but I would have to say that I liked IM better!

oh, showtime, you and your girlfriend will probably enjoy IM.....just remember to stay after the credits..........:cwink:

P.S. It's me super-bats. Hunter Rider gave me a new name!! Thanks, Showtime for your help on that.

Glad you got your new name. I like it better.

REALLY? disappointing in what sense? action-wise?

For the record I find IM to be much better than TF, but TF is propably the most "entertaining" one of the two.

Yeah, the action was too short, and the ending, with the press conference was extremely stupid IMO. Way to put everyone you know in danger.

Somebody actually found that dumb as hell Transformers to be a better movie?

Okay, everyone is intitled to their opinion.

I wouldnt say TF was a better movie than IM, but i find TF more entertaining, as did many, MANY others. Also, TF isnt as dumb as some people think.

I think Iron Man is the better movie, I mean, just for the acting and story. but yeah, the final battle was very disappointing and the dialogue very cheesy, LOL.
Also, you know I hate TF.:word:

Fair enough, to each his own.

If TF is better than Iron Man, I don't even want to see Iron Man.

They are different movies to be fair, IM is better structered, and has some great character development, some other parts just dissapointed me. I found TF a more enjoyable experience, though that may change once i see IM again. IM shouldnt be missed for sure.

I got transforming alien vehicles fighting, so I'm happy. TRANSFORMERS was never a particularly deep concept. Bay and his writers did about as much as you can do with it without completely reinventing it and making a really pretentious project.]

IRON MAN's cast and a loving approach to the material elevated a fairly standard action/drama script.

Agreed 100%

I'm a big Bay fan actually, and he he delivered a blockbuster popcorn movie, so I guess I shouldn't have been expecting much. It was really pleasing to the eye.

Sounds like they did a good job with it. Can't wait to see it.

It was just fun, and it really took about as mature an approach to the concept of giant transforming robots as it could, I think. I've read the comics, and I've seen all the episodes/shows/movies, etc. The movie was actually a little deeper than most version of Transformers. The only real point of contention fans could have is it's "faithfulness" and the fact that the robots were more supporting characters than driving their own story. But there's also a precendent for that set by the original show itself in some ways.

^I REALLY enjoyed IM, but find TF the better movie personally, i found the ending of IM extremely dissapointing. TF only had minor dissapointments for me.

While I think the ending with
Stark revealing the world he is Iron Man too early
, it didn't hurt the movie much as TF. TF is just a big mess with bad acting from Shia & the lines are terrible. Even Bumblebee acting like he is peeing was stupid as hell.

Let me make something clear, I'm not saying that Iron Man didn't have serious flaws I'm saying that despite those flaws it was a far better movie than TF because you came away caring about the characters and it did have some smarts. Not saying it was uber deep but I found it too be smart, for an action film.

Agreed, it was as deep as it could be really, throw a great performance by Shia, an even better one by Peter Cullen and it gave us a VERY entertaining movie, which, while not faithful to its original source in many ways, got all of the Autobots and Dcepticons spot on IMO.

Totally disagree about TF, i thought Shia was great, and the lines were no worse than any other movie. Some lines in TF were actually great IMO, like "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings." Classic Optimus line that was delivered with perfection. And who couldnt love the exchanges between Megatron and Optimus?

Megs:"Humans dont deserve to live!"
Optimus: "They deserve to choose for themselves!"
Megs:"Then you will die WITH THEM........Join them in EXTINCTION!"

Vintage TF, and the lines were delivered perfectly by Cullen and Weaving IMO.

Back to Iron Man
he has just put everyone he knows, all of his employees and anyone who ever comes into contact with him again in danger in that ending, he may as well paint a target on their heads
.

I cared about the characters in TF as well though. As always, to each his own, lets not turn this into an Iron man vs thread.:yay:

I was too busy staring at Megan Fox............

I only cared about Optimus prime. I hated shia lebouf.

I thought Shia was great, he gave us a character we could really relate to IMO. And i liked all of the Autobots and had sympathy for all of them, especially Optimus, Jazz and Bumblebee.

I was too busy staring at Megan Fox............

Ha ha, i know what you mean :wow:.

To me Shia was annoying as hell! :cmad:

I hated the humour, the cookie-cutter characters.......I wouldn't have minded the latter, but he humour was just waaaaaay bad, very bad taste.

I enjoyed some moments of the movie but hated most things about it. I just felt like they insulted my intelligence. Unfortunately, this is what America and the world are supporting and buying.......*sigh*

Well.....we are talking about Transformers. It was exactly what I expected, no surprise there.

^Exactly, i dont see how people could have expected any different. It made a very good movie out an admittedly shoddy concept IMO (and this is coming from a long-time TF fan BTW).

Well, I expect some decency and some taste in movies geared to the whole family.

There was no need for pissing robots or mansturbating jokes, and by the kid's parents...oy! very disgusting stuff, IMO. Just not my thing.

Seemed like a reflection of modern parenting to me. I pity the person who has never been sexually embarassed by their parents.

Those few "disgusting moments" hardly ruin the movie as a whole.

I dont see why people get so offended at the 'robot pissing' scene, it was just oil/gas, and was just a throw away moment. As for the *********ing joke, i found it hilarious because it is just something my parents would do given the oppurtunity. The reaction of Sam's mother when she sees Mikaela WAS just my mother so i find that bit brilliant.

Agreed.

Agreed.
Right.......just small comedic scenes nothing more.

I'm going to have to give it another shot on DVD.

It was a bad movie indeed. But I could manage myself through it without hating it and appreciating it for what it was. At least I found hilarious the sitcom type of humour with giant robots trying to hide themselves in a house. But you won't see me defending the movie.

Now I agree, I find it sad that because of the money it made it's seen by some people as a type of movie that should be imitated.

Same here. But sadly what I expected was a mediocre movie. I got that but entertaining enough.

Personally, it was too stupid to ignore. For me humour can destroy a scene and if handled terribly enough can destroy a movie. That was my main problem with the Spiderman movies. Raimi's sense of humour is way too stupid for humankind. And what makes it worse he thinks a superhero movie has to have little stupid jokes every 45 seconds by force. Batman Begins for me also had many good scenes simply destroyed by crappy humour.

It's meant to be stupid. But we're talking about a movie that features giant robots that transform into vehicles. A franchise that has always, always, always had some humor to it. Now, if nothing else in the movie had been remotely serious, I would agree that this is just too much. As it was, it was a little lighthearted moment where a giant robot car "pees" on a man who is making trouble for the heroes.

Right.......just small comedic scenes nothing more.

Exactly, they last 30 seconds, if that in most cases.

I'm going to have to give it another shot on DVD.

I think its a great piece of entertainment, i wouldnt want that for a Superman movie, but thats simply because the story of Superman is a lot deeper in the first place.

Well, i liked the humor in all of those movies, I could have done with a little less of the juvenile stuff in TF, but it didnt ruin the experience or movie for me personally.

Exactly, its a throwaway quip, the movie was full of them, but it got suitably serious during the last 45 mins.

On a side note, just warched SR again and IMO its a superior movie to Iron Man, i dont understand the pedestal that movie has been put on, dont get me wrong its GOOD, but is it great? Not IMO. Maybe that will change after a 2nd viewing (I always enjoy movies more 2nd time round to be fair), but for now this is how i feel.
