Showtime listen to me. Iron Man isn't like Transformers and Shia isn't as good as Downey Jr.
I'd liken it more to the first two Spider-Man movies than Transformers. I think that you and your gal will like it. I'm not gauranteeing that or anything but I think that ya'll will.
IRON MAN is very entertaining. It's about what you'd expect from an Iron Man origin story. It's not really all that much "deeper" than TRANSFORMERS, though the concepts may be more interesting in terms of their social relevance. The performances are on the same level. I'd call what Shia did with his material similar to what Tony Stark did with his. Both actors elevated their roles and a fairly average script.
I liked both TF and Iron Man....but I would have to say that I liked IM better!
oh, showtime, you and your girlfriend will probably enjoy IM.....just remember to stay after the credits..........
P.S. It's me super-bats. Hunter Rider gave me a new name!! Thanks, Showtime for your help on that.
REALLY? disappointing in what sense? action-wise?
For the record I find IM to be much better than TF, but TF is propably the most "entertaining" one of the two.
Somebody actually found that dumb as hell Transformers to be a better movie?
Okay, everyone is intitled to their opinion.
I think Iron Man is the better movie, I mean, just for the acting and story. but yeah, the final battle was very disappointing and the dialogue very cheesy, LOL.
Also, you know I hate TF.![]()
If TF is better than Iron Man, I don't even want to see Iron Man.
I think it should be fun, I guess I shouldn't act like I hated Transformers, it was highly entertaining and I thought the effects were solid. I had huge expectations for the movie for some reason.

I got transforming alien vehicles fighting, so I'm happy. TRANSFORMERS was never a particularly deep concept. Bay and his writers did about as much as you can do with it without completely reinventing it and making a really pretentious project.
IRON MAN's cast and a loving approach to the material elevated a fairly standard action/drama script.
I'm a big Bay fan actually, and he he delivered a blockbuster popcorn movie, so I guess I shouldn't have been expecting much. It was really pleasing to the eye.
^I REALLY enjoyed IM, but find TF the better movie personally, i found the ending of IM extremely dissapointing. TF only had minor dissapointments for me.
It was just fun, and it really took about as mature an approach to the concept of giant transforming robots as it could, I think. I've read the comics, and I've seen all the episodes/shows/movies, etc. The movie was actually a little deeper than most version of Transformers. The only real point of contention fans could have is it's "faithfulness" and the fact that the robots were more supporting characters than driving their own story. But there's also a precendent for that set by the original show itself in some ways.
While I think the ending with, it didn't hurt the movie much as TF. TF is just a big mess with bad acting from Shia & the lines are terrible. Even Bumblebee acting like he is peeing was stupid as hell.Stark revealing the world he is Iron Man too early
Let me make something clear, I'm not saying that Iron Man didn't have serious flaws I'm saying that despite those flaws it was a far better movie than TF because you came away caring about the characters and it did have some smarts. Not saying it was uber deep but I found it too be smart, for an action film.
I cared about the characters in TF as well though. As always, to each his own, lets not turn this into an Iron man vs thread.![]()
I only cared about Optimus prime. I hated shia lebouf.
I was too busy staring at Megan Fox............
Well.....we are talking about Transformers. It was exactly what I expected, no surprise there. To me Shia was annoying as hell!![]()
I hated the humour, the cookie-cutter characters.......I wouldn't have minded the latter, but he humour was just waaaaaay bad, very bad taste.
I enjoyed some moments of the movie but hated most things about it. I just felt like they insulted my intelligence. Unfortunately, this is what America and the world are supporting and buying.......*sigh*
Well, I expect some decency and some taste in movies geared to the whole family.
There was no need for pissing robots or mansturbating jokes, and by the kid's parents...oy! very disgusting stuff, IMO. Just not my thing.
Seemed like a reflection of modern parenting to me. I pity the person who has never been sexually embarassed by their parents.
Those few "disgusting moments" hardly ruin the movie as a whole.
Right.......just small comedic scenes nothing more.I dont see why people get so offended at the 'robot pissing' scene, it was just oil/gas, and was just a throw away moment. As for the *********ing joke, i found it hilarious because it is just something my parents would do given the oppurtunity. The reaction of Sam's mother when she sees Mikaela WAS just my mother so i find that bit brilliant.
Agreed.

Personally, it was too stupid to ignore
Right.......just small comedic scenes nothing more.
I'm going to have to give it another shot on DVD.
It was a bad movie indeed. But I could manage myself through it without hating it and appreciating it for what it was. At least I found hilarious the sitcom type of humour with giant robots trying to hide themselves in a house. But you won't see me defending the movie.
Now I agree, I find it sad that because of the money it made it's seen by some people as a type of movie that should be imitated.
Same here. But sadly what I expected was a mediocre movie. I got that but entertaining enough.
Personally, it was too stupid to ignore. For me humour can destroy a scene and if handled terribly enough can destroy a movie. That was my main problem with the Spiderman movies. Raimi's sense of humour is way too stupid for humankind. And what makes it worse he thinks a superhero movie has to have little stupid jokes every 45 seconds by force. Batman Begins for me also had many good scenes simply destroyed by crappy humour.
It's meant to be stupid. But we're talking about a movie that features giant robots that transform into vehicles. A franchise that has always, always, always had some humor to it. Now, if nothing else in the movie had been remotely serious, I would agree that this is just too much. As it was, it was a little lighthearted moment where a giant robot car "pees" on a man who is making trouble for the heroes.
