Because if so you have no worth to your opinion whatsoever.
No I don't see bottom of post for details. I'm happy that you enjoyed BladeRunner but I don't see it as anything special and think that Scott's work is hugely overrated.
Plenty of foreign films are highly criticaly accliamed does that mean they are good movies? I do not think so and I know many would agree with me they are just to artsy for my tastes.
I agree with you, alot of low budget artfilms aren't as good as some people would have you believe and I perfer action adventure films, but still love all other sorts of films
The BO has been since the early 90's the barometer for a movies success whether you choose to accept this or not is irrelevant since the average public does, see MTV movie awards which eclipse the number of viewers of the emmy's or oscar's and we will not even mention the hundred's of millions who vote in the MTV awards.

Uh no, The MTV movie awards don't get 25% of the oscars ratings and don't even come close to the emmy's ratings.
Oh, you are wrong. My comments are not "all over the place" and how does me not seeing the film effect my judgement on it's boxoffice? The funny thing is the previews, director and storyline kept me away this long. I wonder if those things (minus director) kept other people away. Futher more, I would argue that the lovers and haters can't objectively judge the movie's boxoffice because they let their opinions of the film get in the way, why I on the other hand have no first hand opinion of said film.Pickle-El said:It means that you are all over the place....likely because you still haven't seen Superman Returns yet. I personally am one who has always said that boxoffice doesn't equate quality.I SEE SPIDEY said:No offence, because I know alot of anti SR fans can be pills, but is that the best argument that the fans of SR can come up with? "Boxoffice doesn't equal a good movie." Ofcourse not! But what you are neglecting to mention is that boxoffice doesn't mean that a movie is bad either. I never hear that from people who defend the boxoffice disappointments that they love.
PS. BladeRunner is not all that!
Never have seen that..might have to put it in my Netflix queue.C. Lee said:I personally am one who has always said that boxoffice doesn't equate quality.
And BladeRunner is fantastic, I love it. Sometime around the end of the year, there will be a massive BladeRunner DVD release....there will be the original theatrical cut, the current director's cut, and pleanty of extras.
It was underrated at it's release...but many people have copied it since. The director's cut changes the ending (as well as a few other things, but endings always stick in your mind)...but both versions are good. Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, William Sanderson, Daryl Hannah star.Venom71 said:Never have seen that..might have to put it in my Netflix queue.
Tempest19 said:I personally believe Sony is playing it smart. That teaser excited MANY people about the film and Sony still hasn't revealed it's "secret weapon" to the public which is unbelievable. Once Casino Royal hits and the public sees-- prepare for Spidey mania. Because on that day, on that day that the trailer hits
will be EVERYWHERE!

Showtime029 said:I am refering to Spiderman 3 and the teaser I saw for that movie. I don't care about Spiderman 1 and 2. I hope the next trailer makes me feel better about the movie and I am sure it will.

For my taste the movie and all of the books based on it are extremely underrated and I love the stories. As for the movie, the FX still hold up, and the production design and clothing/hairstyles were thirty years ahead of their time. I can't wait for the re-release.C. I remember seeing it opening week in 1982. I remember audience reaction was that it looked great, and was a good movie, but it was too out there. I caught on to the fact that it was a homage to all those 30's and 40's hard boiled detective movies, but in the future. I just remember people thought it was too out there at the time. It didn't catch on till it came out on Video and HBO, The Movie Channel, and Showtime.C. Lee said:It was underrated at it's release...but many people have copied it since. I saw it then too...and loved it. Did you know that the theatrical version was a little bit different than the tape version? A couple of bloodier takes on two scenes were added. I grew up watching all those old film noir detective stories and absolutely got what they were doing.buggs0268 said:I remember seeing it opening week in 1982. Dude....I remember when we only had 3 channels in total of anything to watch....and where I lived, that third channel didn't come in half the time.buggs0268 said:Off topic, God remember when there were only a few cable channels? I rembember when there was only HBO and it was on from 8:00 am till 12 am. And at the end of the day, they played all the previews of the movies that was going to be on the next month and then it was nothing till 8 in the morning again.

AVEITWITHJAMON said:Okay, if the box office is a barometer of success since the early 90's, that means Shawshank Redemption is crap, Batman Forever is better than Batman Returns, The Martix Reloaded is by far the best movie in the trilogy and the original Matrix is the worst, Titanic is the best movie EVER, Terminator 3:Rise of the Machines is the best movie in the trilogy, Fantastic Four is a better movie than X1, POTC 2 is one of the best movies ever, And The Phantom Menace is the best Star Wars movie.
That is some logic that Nate, perfect. Oh and the MTV movie awards have NOTHING to do with the oscars.

Boxoffice Success does not = Good movie, Success just says that movie had something and appeal that made people want to see it. To some people Titanic is best movie and to some Matrix is.
Superman Returns was expected to be a massive success by most people. Yes including people here on the hype I remember people saying it would break records because it was Superman.
The question is, why is Superman Returns not a massive success? $100ml on marketing? Tons of Tv spots, tons of magazine, newspaper advertisements? Even on Myspace? It had one of the largest marketing budgets. So why did people still not want to see it?
