Les Miserables: One Thread More!

It has its moments. Everything with Tom Cruise and Catherine Zeta Jones is hilarious. The rest of the cast kind of miss the idea.

It's official -- no critics know what they're talking about lol. Just found out in a behind the scenes disk that the broadway play was met with terrible reviews (!), but continued past them because word of mouth was beyond powerful. What's wrong with critics? That was kind of the last straw of even listening somewhat to critics lol.

I also got my Stage to Screen book yesterday. It's funny that they messed up some things - on page 76 there's the picture where Javert is riding a horse just at the beginning of "At the end of the day", but the description says, "Javert leads his men through the streets of Paris in pursuit of Valjean", and on page 70 there is another photo of "At the end of the day" where they say it's "Look down ..." .

Can You Hear the People Squeal? Aaron Tveit to Debut Solo Concert at 54 Below
News By Josh Ferri March 28, 2013 - 3:14PM

Aaron Tveit will play 54 Below for four dates in May.

Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner and SAG nominee Aaron Tveit has wowed legions of fans in large Broadway houses and on the big screen, and now he’ll get closer than ever with an intimate new solo show at 54 Below. Tveit will play the popular nightspot May 3, 11, 17 and 18, according to his rep. Tickets are not on sale yet, but Broadway.com will be sure to let you know the moment they become available.

For his 54 Below debut, Tveit will perform popular standards, some of his personal favorites and a slew songs from his previous stage credits.

Tveit made his Broadway debut as Link Larkin in the Tony-winning musical Hairspray. He then went on to co-star as Fiyero in the blockbuster musical Wicked before making a huge breakout (and winning a Broadway.com Audience Choice Award) as Gabe in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Next to Normal. Tveit then headlined the Main Stem musical Catch Me If You Can as Frank Abagnale Jr. He most recently appeared on the big screen as Enjolras in the film adaptation of Les Miserables. His additional credits include TV’s Gossip Girl, the movie Howl and the Hollywood Bowl production of Rent. Tveit’s next big gig is starring in the original USA Network series Graceland.

Fingers crossed, Aaron will bust out a little "Runaway with Me" at 54 Below. Until then, check it below.

Free ITunes Digital Copy Code, I already redeemed the Ultraviolet copy.

My Stage to Screen arrived. What an excellent, well put together book. Love the padded cover. It's a great history of the overall play and not just the movie itself. So in that regard it pleases everyone. The Fantine sections are my favourite parts. :D

Download the Digital copy question -

It was downloading to Itunes for about an hour and then naturally, my computer went to sleep and when it came back there was some kind of error message and it had stopped downloading.

How do I restart it or get the darn movie on ITunes? These things never work for me!! Message:

"There was a problem downloading "Les Miserables (2012)/Tom Hooper" - an unknown error occurred (-50). Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again."

EDIT: It's there now (I think) but it won't play. All I get is a blank screen and nothing happens when I hit the play button.

you might want to email them?
I did email them and got an answer, but it was two pages long with possiblities (go here, click this, unclick that) and since I'm not very tech-savvy I'm afraid I'l screw up my computer. So I just said the heck with it since I barely understand any of this stuff.

I saw this for the first time not too long ago, and it was my first time seeing any version of Les Mis. Good God, was it beautiful. <3

For you Sam Barks fans, she sang "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" on a BBC tribute to Andrew Lloyd Webber last week:

Love that song.

I saw the matinee of Matilda on Broadway today, which was amazing! Bertie Carvel, who was the guy in Les Mis who got Fantine arrested (the guy she scratched in the face) played the headmistress. He was so freaking hysterical, straight through to the curtain calls. I hope he wins the Tony this year.

Finally saw this the other day. LOVED it. Already picked up the Blu Ray for it. Definitely one of my favourite films to come from last year.

 awesome

I know a lot of musical theatre purists can't stand ALW, but I think his ability to write good songs for "female lead character at a crossroads" is unparalleled.

I grew up on ALW musicals. He's written so much amazing stuff that I can't hate too much of the stuff he's done that I don't like (and there's plenty of that too).

Even Cats. People can make all the jokes they want about that show, but damn, "Memory" brought the house down when I saw it.

The touring production of Cats is swinging through Toronto in May, and I'm going. Even if I have to go myself (nobody else I know who I'd normally take to this kind of thing likes Cats, at all).

Yes, an unmarried lifelong bachelor going to musical theatre performances alone. For a glimpse into my tragic future, just go see The Drowsy Chaperone. :(

I loved The Drowsy Chaperone!

Cats was pretty fun when I saw it. Although I saw it more than 20 years ago, so I can't really vouch for it lately.

I saw Starlight Express on Broadway in 1988 - it was my 8th grade graduation and my sister's elementary school graduation present. Ten years later, we went to London and we were so excited that it was still playing there and got TKTS tickets. As soon as it ended, my sister just said, "Well, it was cute when I was ten..." :oldrazz:

That's nice but to me it just looks like a publicity stunt by Universal. What do they mean by influential? As far as I know women didn't go around copying the style. Remember Bo Derek's cornrows from '10', now *that* had an impact on women's hairstyles at the time!

FELONY charges for Hugh's stalker.

Hugh Jackman's alleged stalker indicted on felony charges

Prosecutors are taking a new swipe at Hugh Jackman's alleged razor-waving stalker.

Unhinged blonde Katherine Thurston has been indicted on felony charges in the alleged incident, in which she allegedly accosted the hunky "X-Men" and "Les Miserables" star at his West Village gym last week.

"There has been affirmative grand jury action," assistant district attorney Virginia Nguyen told a judge at a short hearing just before lunch.

The prosecutor gave no details of the new indictment, which will be unsealed at Thurston's next court date, set by Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Steven Statsinger for May 8.

Thurston stood rear-cuffed and expressionless at the defense table, her hair in a mussy ponytail, before being led back to jail, where she is being held in lieu of $7,500 cash bail.

Legal aid lawyer Liz Beal did not request that Thurston be examined to see if she is mentally fit for trial. "That's what we're still trying to figure out," she told reporters after court, declining to comment further.

Thurston was originally charged with harassment, stalking, menacing and low-level weapons possession -- all misdemeanors. She wore the same gold ring on her wedding finger today that she'd worn when she was arrested; her lawyer said today that she did not believe her client was married.

Jackman has told The Post that the April 12 incident left him frightened for his family's safety. "We're getting married, right?" Thurston had screamed at him outside the Gotham Gym.

The Bakersfield, Calif. native -- a mom to three grown children -- was already on probation for stalking Jackman at a San Francisco concert last year.

“I was at his daughter’s school. I went to his gym this morning,” she told cops, according to the criminal complaint. “I want to marry him. This is not against the law. It is not against the law to have two wives."

I think it's legal in Utah and that's about it. And I imagine you have to be a Mormon. There might also be exceptions for people who belong to other polygamous religions but you'd likely have to prove it, and it doesn't sound to me like that's the case here. She's just a nutball.
