Leverage on TNT

I loved the shoot out that Elliot was involved in the using the 2 guns together to slide the slides of them back at the same time was something I have NEVER seen in any type of film shootout :awesome:!

Great. Now you spoiled the episode for anybody who hasn't seen it. Or seen Tomb Raider. Or any action movie with Angelina Jolie. Or Clive Owen. Or the Matrix. Or anything with Vin Diesel. Or anything directed by John Woo. Actually, any action movie with Asians. Or the paintball episode of Community. :p

For some reason, the shootout slide actually didn't bother me (except for how long he was able to keep up the slide)

I think it's because they actually showed the bad guy's bullet trajectories. Because just as he started the slide, I thought "Oh, here it comes. Where the bad guys somehow miss with hundreds of bullets." But, by actually showing the bullets, it makes more sense. (It also helped me to remember that machine guns aren't designed for precision shooting at a moving target. And Eliot didn't miss because he's...well...Eliot ;))

Elliot doesn't acknowledge the laws of physics or good sense or any of that silly stuff

Always nice to see Buffy/Angel alumni doing well but I'm even more happier to see the gorgeous Gina Bellman doing so well in the US, if you haven't seen it check her out in the hysterically funny British romcom Coupling and thriller Silent Trigger, pretty good for a Dolph Lungdren film

Season 4 of "Leverage" starts June 26th at 8PM CST. :woot:

Season 3 comes out on DVD on June 7th. :woot:

Thought they would re air the last season episode before the new one starts, oh well

Nice epi...

Wonder who put the bug in the flat?

Heh, I've only watched about 15 minutes of the new episode because I'm at work, but I love that Rogers named the climber guy Alan Scott. :funny:

there should be a clip episode where the Leverage team gets dragged into some court or tribunal and all of their past exploits are recounted....and they should have a lawyer....only one lawyer in the land, nay the planet, nay the galaxy is equipped to defend Team Leverage

that lawyer.....

Denny Crane

I just discovered this show (I never go on TNT!) But wow....I love it!! I can't believe I was missing out all this time!! :) I thought it was a lawyer show! haha

I don't want to see a clip show. Those are so obviously to save money and are usually pretty boring. I want to see something new.

The Season 4 premiere wasn't quite what I was hoping for.

There seemed to be less of a con in this episode, and it seemed to be more about recovering the body, or Nate rescuing the wife. The only real vaguely Leverage thing was Sophie running her grifter scams in that tent (with Nate eventually joining in for a short time), but the rest of the team weren't really all that involved in any scheme this time round. I would've expected something a bit more high energy and typical Leverage for a season opener.

BTW why does there only seem to be 10 episodes scheduled for Season 4 compared to a larger order for previous seasons?

This show is literally the easiest for me to talk up to people. Anytime someone expresses interest or asks me what it's about, I'm just like, "It's a TV show that is basically a heist movie in every episode." More often than not, the other person is like, "Damn, I gotta check that out." :hehe:

I don't mind clip shows if they are done well

I guess, but Leverage already has just 16 episodes in a given season, if they start doing a clipshow (the main reason being to save money) then we'd know they're in trouble. However, a clipshow in the vein of The Rashamon Job would be .

New episode is up, I will watch it this afternoon. Been in Hong Kong for a week (on a heist, of course ;)) so I have a lot of American cable TV to catch up on.

That wasn't really a clip show though, because it wasn't culled from past episodes. It was a past event, but entirely new footage, and it was shown from different perspectives, adding new information and changing your perception each time it was retold (plus it didn't utilise the same footage each time but was filmed from different angles and different people in certain roles). It's a bit like the movie Vantage Point, which couldn't really be called a clip movie.

And yes, with so few episodes in a season (why aren't there 24 episodes?) having a clip show made up from these would suggest that the show is on its last legs.

Ha ha, you're right, but I was also thinking of that South Park "clip show" episode they did where they were all remembering past episodes, but the facts were all wrong so it was actually brand new content.

What's up with Leverage? After the rather weak pilot, we get another weak episode. Instead of the usual con we're subjected to a murder mystery/ whodunnit. Are they running out of ideas or what? I just want a good old fashioned con like they are known for.

I thought the first episode was alright, kind of par for the course. I like Leverage, but it's not like Lost or Game of Thrones, I don't watch it to be blown out of the water.

They tried to do something different with the second episode. Kind of a hit and miss with me, but there was a lot of stuff I liked:

The lightning/blackout plot device: a very good example of "hiding in plain sight;" that, combined with the makeout scene, gives the viewer enough information to solve the murder, but I didn't see it the first time around (usually I'm good at these things).

The detective being the killer: another nice touch. Again, the viewer "could have" easily surmised that the detective was the killer (shiny object in the jacket pocket, what else could it be but a police badge) but the story sets up the detective as being the impediment to the investigation, rather than a possible suspect, which is pretty good story structure IMO.

Parker dressed up as Nancy Drew. So wrong, but also sooo right ... ;)

I think TPTB have tried a different approach to the new season, rather than chuck them into the big season arc straight away, they've only hinted at it while doing other stuff.

Well I don't care about the season arc at this point. I just want to see some good, old fashioned cons. I haven't been waiting all this time for Leverage to start up again just so I can see a mountain climbing episode followed by a murder mystery episode with little to no con caper.

I kind of get what you mean, but keep in mind, the first episode saw Sophie manipulate global financial markets to scuttle a major M&A transaction and in the second episode, to use Nate's words, they stole a murder investigation. Those are all cons, in a way.

Nice homage by Timothy Hutton dressing up as ELLERY QUEEN.
His father, Jim Hutton, played "Ellery" in a 70's TV series.

Ha, I didn't think of that, thanks for pointing it out.

I also want to see John Lone guest star on the show, as some Asian crimelord or interpol officer or something. Get an Iceman reunion going down. :awesome:
