Lexi Alexander Blog Update - June 15 - Trailermania

The trailer looks ok. Ray's look is right on for Punny.

But I don't really care about the pretty colors, I just want the graphic brutality of the MAX comicbook.

Innards strewn across the floor, BLOOD.

Remember in 'The Slavers' were Frank repeatedly throws that woman into glass over and over until she goes through the window, and falls to her death.. Or also in 'The Slavers' I think, Frank busts into a place one night and wastes everyone inside the building. Next scene is the cops showing up and intestines and blood and bodies all over the place.

I WANT TO SEE THAT STUFF IN WAR ZONE!

I doubt Lexi is that sadistic tho.

That movie would be rated NC-17 or something. The Punisher doesn't necessarily need to kill people in this movie just so long as they know he WOULD.

........What the hell are you talking about? Punisher doesn't need to kill people in this movie? Are you insane?

I wonder if he had a say in the 04 script! What a bodycount!

The Punisher Burger is two sirloin steaks and has the skull emblem branded onto a sourdough bun. Eating it gives you an STD.

How the hell could you get an std from eating a damn hamburger????

Oh...

ClevelandBrown001.jpg

that's nasty.

The Punisher in a realistic and gritty setting would be like having Det. Vic Mackey of
THE SHIELD run around with a big ass skull on his chest, or Ray Liotta’s character in NARC suddenly go: “Hey, I think
I just saw a guy whose face looks like a Jigsaw puzzle.” Ha, ha.

I still don't get this comment, basically hasn't the MAX book been about realistic and gritty stories, set outside Marvel continuity in it's own little corner. I mean look at "Slavers".

If they say stupid **** like that, they have no ideal who Frank castle really is.

comics books... are not... real.

it doesn't even matter if they're set in the real world. the things that happen in comics, even in the max universe, are not realistic. when you throw a guy out a window several stories down and he lands on a fence, he is not getting up to fight you again. nobody takes multiple stab wounds and dozens of bullets and goes on to fight another day, on a daily basis. characters like the punisher really don't exist, so i get exactly what lexi meant when she said that.

Well, sue me for wanting to see something more grounded in reality. Something more than a B-action movie. I'm just one guy, most people on here will see it and love it, regardless of story or style, as long as it has plenty of the wet stuff.

It still doesn't take away the fact that the comment was fairly dumb. Saying Castle doesn't work in a realistic setting is total ********. Also, you'd be surprised some of the crazy **** people survive.

some genius wrote "comics books... are not... real."

like I said, some of you guys would be happy to see a punisher movie where Frank sprouts wings and starts shooting .45s outta his ass.

just because it's a comic book movie doesn't mean that it wouldn't help to ground it a bit more in reality so as to reach a bigger audience than just the comic book fanboys. Always thought it would be dumb to have the punisher run around in white boots, he'll be spending his days cleaning it instead of hunting down scum.

oh, yeah, "movies....are not....real either", but it doesn't mean it shouldn't feel "real".

Here's a quote from Jane about what he wanted out of the movie.

Concerning THE PUNISHER 2, Tom says he'd like to make a drama, without any goofy stuff. "Just straight noir, drama, with the inherent blood and guts in it." Jane also says it will definitely take place in New York.

That would have been perfect in my view, but that's just me, and had Stuart Beattie not left, probably would be the movie that's coming out. But I guess some people are apparently fine with a B-grade action movie with a neon color pallete, to that all I can say is to each their own.

It's not that it has to be grounded in reality. If it was reality, the Punisher would more than likely not be doing this for over 30 years. the idea is to make the story believable. I don't want reality. I want believability.

that was quite genius, i agree. i had just came home from a bbq and i was a lil intoxicated when i wrote it and now that i look back at it, it doesn't make sense. haha... plenty of comics are set in the real world. however, the punisher, even tho he's one of the most grounded-in-reality characters, hasn't always been portrayed as an overly realistic character. don't get me wrong though, i wanna see a more dramatic dark and gritty take on the punisher too, but warzone is still lookin pretty good. it's not exactly what some of us had hoped for, but i still think it's pretty badass.

sometimes i feel like some of these discussions are pointless, cuz as i've said in the past the same people keep saying the same ****, but mostly because some of the people on here have read the script and therefore think they know everything about the film. it's hard to have an open discussion with somebody that's already made up their mind.

That goes both ways

I'm hoping this movie makes at least $50M domestic. If the budget is $12M, then that's a heck of a surplus! Plus I'm thinking for all the mistakes this movie is sure to have, I think Lexi would improve it if she made a sequel. So here's hoping it does well at the BO. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

PS- Lexi is fine as hell. I'd hit faster than UFC fighter after he hears the bell!

That goes both ways

who goes both ways?

that's nasty.

:woot:

but seriously, i haven't made my mind up about the film entirely. i'm just a bit more optimistic cuz i actually like what i see. i hear your gripes with the script and like i said i'd love to see a darker and more realistic take on the punisher, but big action is what makes money these days. this film looks like it's going to be a lot of fun and already a ton better than the previous attempts. that's exactly what this franchise needs to make it appealing to the public.
