Lexi Alexander Blogs???

The negativity and fear is being chipped away huh? I'm happy with everything I've heard so far.

Yeah, it's good to see how the film went from limbo to being an interesting project.

I don't think I'm ready to expect a four star Punisher movie just yet, but all of the new elements so far are pretty satisfying... the outlines we've seen about the plot aren't quite enough, though, to determine if the actual story will be good or not. I am skeptical about their choice to have Microchip taking care of his mom... the movie isn't really living up to the comic unless he loses her like he lost his son in the comic. Maybe they figure sick mom's death is an improvement over the original story. Otherwise I don't think she serves much purpose.

I would love to know who else was on that list of potential Frank Castles sent to Lexi by Marvel.

Castle was a Force Recon Marine.

Vietnam back story sans cop angle perhaps??:oldrazz:

Ok, I just read all 3-4 of those interviews you guys have posted. I'm getting more and more excited about this film the more I hear of it. Only one thing I have to ask. I'm not trying to be sexist but what makes her right to do a Punisher film? Does she know the character at all? I didn't see in any of those interviews/blogs talk about her knowing the character well let alone being a fan.

Being a fan of the comic before being offered the project would be a MASSIVE plus for a director, but I don't think it's totally neccesary. It's not like we were all born as fans of the character... we were all new to it at one point or another.

I never said that you have to be a fan to make a good movie out of it. Just it is in fact a plus when someone knows the character inside and out when adapting it.

Overall, I was just curious about why they picked her to direct is all. As for the not all born as fans of the character. If I were a director and they asked me to direct a property I knew nothing about I would most likely turn it down because I wouldn't want to cram in all the history of that character in a couple weeks time like cramming the night before a major test. It just wouldn't turn out great.

Even if you haven't had much experience and get offered a Marvel picture? I doubt you wouldn't do it. Very few of them have failed to open up at #1, at least their first weekend up... talk about exposure. In any case, I believe that as long as she reads some of the more major comics and (most importantly) understands the script she's been given to work with, she's doing her job. It honestly isn't as difficult as you're making it sound to sit down and read Punisher comics, and to understand them.

Two things don't think you know me, I stand by what I said. I wouldn't do them, if I were a director starting out and they asked me to do a film for example, based on any DC character other than Batman I would say no. I don't like DC characters besides Batman so I wouldn't know squat about them and wouldn't want to screw up turning it into a live action film.

The other thing is, I never said it's difficult to read up on a character. It's the differnce of having a director with a passion and love for the character than someone who quickly read up on it and says "oh, so he goes around killing bad guys" and leaves it at that. Mind you, im not saying that was her take on it, it's just an example.

^I agree space ace Lexi is a hottie and by accounts so far, this is going to be a great Punisher film - I wish Tom Jane was still involved and was working with a good script and director - but, so be it. I'm glad the project is getting rebooted and not left to fade away.

I don't need to know you to read

I'm not trying to be sexist but what makes her right to do a Punisher film?

And say that you questioned her ability to do it. If you don't think she's mis-interpreting it somehow, or that she's somehow "wrong", why did you ask the question? If you're not being sexist, why did you even mention gender? There's just no good reason not to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Eww she's a gurl!!!

I doubt she knows anything about the Punisher.
