I don't know why some people don't want Aquaman in the movie. He's one of the most iconic members of Justice League and its too bad that they always put him aside when it comes to the cartoon series/videogames and not including him in the main line-up. Aquaman being in the movie is going to be the break that he needs. And I hope after this Justice League movie, I hope they make a solo movie for Aquaman and the other 3 superheroes (Flash, WonderWoman and Martian Manhunter).

It would be a little weird. I think a hint at MM in the middle of the movie and then a hint at Aquaman at the very end would be the best way to go.

MM on the other hand can be a detective like he was in the animated series who is hiding all those years in fear of humans perceiving him as a threat, but when Superman becomes a symbol of hope he snatched this opportunity and he exposes his true nature.

How can you say Aquaman would cause too many story problems when we don't know the story yet? WB and Legendary will go all out for JL, so the underwater special effects shouldn't be a problem for the budget. If I'm not mistaken, Pacific Rim has an underwater fight in it.

Yes, we don't know the story.....yet, but I just don't see how you would fit introducing Aquaman into a JL film and not make it the film feel that it's forcing all these characters when it is not necessary. I was turned off by Avengers for squeezing in way to many characters. I want a tighter, more compelling script/film when it comes to JL, than what the campy Avengers was all about.

Plus I think there would be need to be some new JL members introduced in a sequel anyway.

I have nothing against Aquaman in a JL film and I can't wait to see him. I just think the time is not right to introduce him in the first JL film.

It really depends how they approach the Movie. It would probably work best if you have news outlets reporting on the sudden appearance of superhuman beings. With lots of newspapers and news with images and footage of the heroes in action. You'd have the classic Superman catching a plane. A bank heist being stopped in seconds, as you only see a red blur on the scene. Aquaman forcing oil tankers to turn around, stuff like that. It's a good way of establishing their presence in the world, without focusing too much on their heavy backstories. And make it like the new comics, where the population doesn't trust these freaks at first.

they should have been doing that after tdk in gl and following that with some sort of news about gl in mos, plug in a ww cameo, and you would have had four of the spots sowed up.

Your logic isn't completely there. If Aqua has a too advanced back story to be told in the first film, so does Wondy.
And the martian detective isn't as known as the king of the seas anyway, and I think WB will go all in on Justice league and not hold back. As many famous characters as possible will be included.

This might sound like a random thought but I feel that if they're going to go with the original 7 and plan on showing how Martian Manhunter got to Earth (assuming he gets to Earth in present time and has not been on the planet for hundreds of years now as Cosmic News reports), they should get Neil deGrasse Tyson to be the scientist that brings MM to Earth.

Think about it. You can't really have a non-white character in a 7-member team now in the 21st century due to how racially diverse we've become but at the same time, most of us want the original 7 so the best thing to do in this case is to have MM be played by a black actor while in his main human form. We also know that according to the comics, when Martian Manhunter got to Earth, he took the form of the first human he ever saw which was the astrophysicist that found him. And since the only way to do the original 7 is to make MM black, then this means the astrophysicist must be black. So why not get the most well known black astrophysicist to star in a cameo in JL as the first man Martian Manhunter first encounters? It would be a cool cameo and it's not that crazy of an idea if you think about it. Most of what we've heard so far all points to Man of Steel being the start of a DC Movie Universe and from what we've seen and heard of MoS, it is very grounded in reality and set in the "real world" thus if JL is part of the same continuity then it will be set in the real world as well meaning that many of the real people would exist.

I would love to see the original 7 in a JL film including Aquaman but seeing as how this movie will have no lead-ups at all (other than maybe MoS), will jump straight in with all the characters established, and may have Darkseid as the villain who is a pretty big villain for the first movie, I don't see how you can do the original 7 and do them complete justice and develop them to their full potential all at the same time. Even The Avengers, which had 5 solo films leading up to it, still couldn't fully develop 6 characters which is why Thor and Hawkeye didn't get anywhere as much development as the rest of the characters. The movie did turn out fine overall but like someone else said, this movie should be better than The Avengers overall because it's the Justice League. No disrespect to the Avengers but the Justice League is the ultimate superhero team out of all superhero teams and their movie should prove that.

The problem isn't so much that you can't fit in a character coming from a hidden mythology-based place in our world but that you can't really fit (and fit well) two characters coming from completely different hidden mythology-based places in our world in one film especially given the circumstances of this film I brought up above and including the fact that the movie will most likely focus on an alien invasion and on aliens in general. You can definitely fit in one mythology somehow but the problem comes when you try to squeeze in two. This is something that even The Avengers didn't do. They stuck to just one mythology. So since it is best to keep the mythologies introduced in the film at one, you would have to choose between Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Atlantis is something that is barely explored in fiction period (at least in comparison to aliens) while aliens have not only been explored in movies and other mediums countless times but it's something that has already been explored in the DC Film Universe as well, assuming that Man of Steel will be taking place in the same continuity as the JL film. Hell, we know that Man of Steel will be entirely about how mankind reacts to their first encounter with alien life. Considering these factors, by the time the JL movie comes out, you can get away with MM's backstory by just saying he is from Mars, that his kind was wiped out very long ago, that he now lives among humans, and you can even throw in a quick flashback LOTR style to pretty much establish him completely. There is also the fact that the villain will most likely be an alien as well so you can further develop Martian Manhunter throughout the movie while that wouldn't be the case for Aquaman.

Totally agree with this. I can see MM telling the backstory of Darkseid to the rest of the JL via flashback, LOTR style. Make it epic!

Personally I think the best Line-Up would be Batman,Superman,GL (Stewart), Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Hawkgirl. I mean alot of people will recognize the line-up from the toon, also its a good way to seperate this movie from the Ryan Reynolds abomination. Finally there's a lot of diversity in that line-up. The movie would def benefit from two strong female characters. I'm more of an Avengers guy but one thing that lacked was diversity among the team.With DC they have a lot of really awesome female characters they can use.
