Fantasy Live Action ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ (Universal)

I was secretly hoping that Craig Ferguson would somehow reprise the character after Butler was cast but Nick Frost is a pretty good fit.

Was hoping they’d rope in Roger Deakins since he was a consultant for the trilogy, but Pope is great.

Still weirded out this is actually happening. Hoping for the best.

Kinda surprised people are excited for this yet keep treating Disney's remakes in general with distain.

I guess the difference between this and the majority of the live action Disney remakes is that How to Train Your Dragon was a book before it was a movie, so it's likely that they draw more influence from that for the live action version so it's not so much of a carbon copy of the animated film.

Except considering it's the same director as the animated movies which are way more popular than the books (the movies changed a LOT from the books), I'm sorry but I'm calling hypocrisy.

I’d consider this a different situation than Disney just for the fact of DeBlois. As much time as he spent on the trilogy, he wouldn’t be doing this if there wasn’t something that’s got him interested.

I agree. And it just seems like it's just THIS that's getting remade and not any other Dreamworks movie.

If Hollywood can make a live action Lion King, they can make a live action Shrek.

If this is half as good as the animated version it will still be pretty good.

I feel like they are making this as promo for the huge epic universe expansion thats supposed to be opening around the same time next year. And no I wouldn’t be surprised at a live action Shrek Announcement should this do well.

There's a leaked photo of a scene with Toothless and Hiccup and it looks... pointless.

Making a live-action remake of such a recent film is weird enough, but when it's visually so close to the original, I just don't get what the interest is here.
