Live-action Dragonball movie

After reading the character descriptions, I'm not really looking all that forward to it being made. And battles in The One also weren't all that great. I'd prefer something along the lines of Dragon Tiger Gate.

I agree with you 100%, the character descriptions dont fill me with excitement for this film and i would love it if the film had scenes like in that video you posted.

*goes off to download movie lol*

I think Wong can manage to up the ante with the fights a little. I mean the guy has to have seen the anime (from the description, it sounds like a Dragonball movie anyway. Characters are just made a little older and there's no Krillin). The only thing that scares me is the humanoid Piccolo. I hope they just mean his shape and he still does have green screen because...wow...departure. Everything else is pretty much spot on though. Just slight twists.

I'm picturing a fantasy epic here similar to "Warriors of Virture" and "The Neverending Story" and that's what what I like. This movie should definately have that feeling going for it even moreso than the martial arts (although the martial arts should be INSANE).

At least get Rick Baker for any non-humans. Come on now. I'm sure he could do a beliveable Namek. The only features Piccolo really has is green skin, antennae, more carnivorous teeth and his eyes should be yellow.

Rick Baker or The Jim Henson Company would be great. Especially if they include the talking animals.

Slight twists? The characters aren't anything like the characters I've read about for, I don't know, the last 8 years. Uncool 18yr highschooler getting trained in martial arts? That's maybe Karate Kid material, but not DBZ.

As opposed to an uncool Elementary school aged kid getting trained in martial arts? Like I said, slight twists. Big age jump but I expected that.

It's not like he cares that people judge him. He's a clueless martial arts nut, that has never seen any other humans besides his grandfather. The character desciptions sounds like he's some guy that looks for approval by being a great martial artists. Who give's a **** if he's unpopular and uncool in the eyes of other highschoolers? IMO, it takes something away from his character if he's shown growing up around other humans.

Well as long as that's the only change then I don't really care. As long as he is Saiyan. I mean maybe he's one of those uncool kids that doesn't care about how much he makes an ass out of himself or is totally oblivious to everything. Maybe he's just made fun of for his hair. No big deal. It's just a slight change. Instead of Gohan dying while he was younger, he got to know him more and by around 18 or 20 Gohan dies. It'll probably have more an emotional kick then anyway and that's probably the reason for the large age jump.

The way I see it, they're just starting off the character a little late in his years is all. Not that many martial artist kids out there that can actually act (and those that try...eeeh).

They could've just started off at the beginning of the Saiyan Saga, and shown in the first 10 minutes flashbacks of past events that lead to the characters meeting each other.

Now we get a highschool kid, Bulma knows martial arts, Piccolo has got an army of ninjas at his side, etc.

I think one of the easiest things to do will be to get the trademark orange gi. Though I hope no one is like, "an orange gi is too cartoony. Let's make it chartreuse."

Agreed 100%, especially on the last one, because that's why he's as naive as he is.

The script had a lot of stuff I didn't like, but also some stuff i did, I'm sure we'll get some re writes done before filming begins.

Well aside from Bulma, all the changes seem to be just slightly different from what we know. Wether it's the age difference or that Goku wasn't home schooled, as long as the characters still stay in tact and I can read one of their lines and point out who says it on the spot, I'm happy.

I do not think the Namek race should be portrayed as "demons", afterall they are mostly peaceful.

sigh...I just have no hope for this movie. I think it's going to be completely americanized.

I don't think it's the Namek race. Just Piccolo himself. His japanese name did translate to Demon Piccolo after all. Maybe if this makes enough money to get a sequel we'll see regular Piccolo.

AvP is getting a sequel, and the first movie isn't all that great. As long as this makes a bit of money, there'll be a sequel.

This actually doesn't sound too horrible to me. It woulda been much worse if they jumped into the Saiyen or Frieza saga. This movie won't be phenomenal by any means but if I learned anything from Bryan Singer, decent likeable films are easier to make killer sequels to.

But for God's sake, we need Krillin!

It needs a few re writes before filming IMO but I think in the end we'll get a decent start to a Dragon Ball franchise.

So whose everyone got in mind for the cast going by the casting breakdowns?

they could still squeez in krilin into the tournament.....

Krillin should just be Master Roshi best student until Goku arrives. Then he begins to envy him and try to compete with him. Then during a fight with Piccolo in which Goku shows his bravery Krillin begins to admire him and their friendship blossoms from there.

I think the casting list is possibly fake - I mean, it just sounds like a remake of the useless chinese DB movie. Namekian ninjas? NO WAY!

If piccolo is to have an army let be the red ribbon army.
