Hmmm, I can see where you're coming from. From seeing WoWS though I don't think Robbie is as peripheral as it may seem. She got massive acclaim for it when it came out, and by the time Suicide Squad drops she'll have been in Z for Zachariah and played Jane in the Tarzan reboot. I think by then she'll be plenty on peoples' minds. Also, there's no actress out there that looks more like Harley.

And she did get several smaller award nominations for WoWS, so I doubt there'll be a noticeable gulf in ability between her and Leto.

Like I said, we'll see how she does.

Yep, the proof will be in the pudding, as they say. I'm optimistic, they could have done much worse. I think they'd be hard pressed to do better, I'm sure people are going to go bananas when the first set pics drop of her.

I have always wanted to see the original costume in the movies but it would be really hard to make it not look ridiculous. They will most likely use costume similiar to Arkham games. Here are some pics how the original could work

I doubt that she'll be wearing her more stripper-ific New 52 or Arkham game costumes. They didn't give Superman his red underpants, or WW her one-piece bathing suit costume. So I don't see them going there with Harley. Something like her Assault on Arkham costume could work.

I also wonder if they'll do the Harley/Deadshot "relationship" in this movie? AOA did.

She has come a long way from her Aussie soap roots and she deserves it, she just has the "It" factor. Really looking forward to finally seeing Harley in live action and she should be a blast to play for Margot, now I just hope they aren't too conservative with her look.

Before I didn't care about a SS film but cast news made me think twice I'm looking forward to Leto's Joker & Robbie's Harley Quinn. I think she & Leto will be great. I want classic look for Harley from BTAS I didn't like AA look of Harley's costume AC & AK Harley are good enough.

There's a difference between underwear on the outside and a harlequin-themed outfit. The former sacrifices little of the overall look, while the latter IS the look. I don’t know what “tone” you’re referring to, but it can’t be so distant as to excise her jester aesthetic completely. And most certainly not in favor of the cleavage-heavy, corset or midriff designed outfits that belongs only on Halloween catalogs for women.

This reminds me of the “Joker can’t wear purple in Nolan’s universe” conclusions all over again.

In regards to the costume, sexy is fine, but sexy doesn't mean we need to have lots of cleavage and stomach windows. For example, Pfieffer Catwoman. The costumes in the Arkham games for her are just not very good, in my opinion, and I'd hope they take little inspiration from them. There was some art a few pages back that I thought would work perfectly.

I'd be quite happy if we get something similar to this:

Harley is a mad woman. How can her jester's outfit look silly? It's what a mad person would wear in one of her moments of madness. In fact it could look quite frightening. I could easily imagine that sort of thing could be used in a serious horror film, giving people nightmares whenever they see a jester's outfit, and then people would actually start taking it seriously and thinking that it could've actually worked in Suicide Squad after all.
