And Jesus, does this look like Margot or what?! :wow:

That statue does look like Margot!

It's actually from a line of statues where the females of the DC universe are portrayed as classic 1940's pinup bombshells. No surprise a bombshell version of Harley would look just like Margot. :D

Gives us an idea of how she could possibly look. :hq:

Though I favour giving Harley facepaint, I wonder whether a solid mask might be more effective. I imagine that she will be the emotional fulcrum of the movie, with divided sympathies that oscillate between her co-agents and The Joker. In that respect, it could be dramatically advantageous for her to be able to don and shed the Harley Quinn guise in a moment.

If this is the approach taken, traditional Venetian masks show how visually striking it may be.

Yes, so would I, but I was trying to outline a scenario in which a mask might be preferred.

IMO with a mask you're taking out part of the expression Harley has, so with Margot. I can see that as a one scene when she has many costumes in her mind before her definitive one or type of scenario when she's in some sort of a black op mission.. IDK

I don't know if any of the storyline has been revealed yet, but I think it would be cool if Dr. Harleen Quinzel starts off as normal, like a special aide to Rick Flagg who is a criminal profiler and psychiatrist brought along to help him monitor the unstable and dangerous personalities they have assembled. But gradually throughout the movie she becomes more and more corrupted by the Joker, leading her to full-on costumed glory in the final act of the film.

I was just thinking the same thing; watching Harleen become Harley and having her be Joker's ace in the hole would be a nice twist. It would also allow the creators to show the different sides of the Joker. If he can be utterly detestable and terrifying with the main squad, then turn on the charm and charisma with Harley, then they're giving their academy award winning actor some scenes to sink his teeth into for range.
I wouldn't be against this... In fact I would like it that even more.

I think I would rather just have Harley show up as is. She doesn't really need much explanation, and she's way more fun as a full-on villain. Maybe a few flashbacks to show her history with the Joker, but other than that, just let her presence speak for itself.

I always loved the bits with Batman and her. :woot: Hopefully we get some of that in the movies.

I never realised just how abusive that relationship was in the animated series. Been sometime since I've seen the show.

I came up with this scenario in my head (during church services for some reason):

Harleen is initially portrayed as kind of an archetypical progressive liberal intellectual that Rick Flagg tries to bring into his team because of her vast knowledge of criminal behaviour.

"I'm not joining your group," she says flatly. "It's unethical, it's probably illegal, and quite frankly General Flagg, men like you disgust me."

"Okay," Flagg says. "But I'm in a position to help you with your research. You've been looking for a missing piece of that puzzle. I can give you that piece."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, the one subject you've been trying to get in front of for the past 8 years. I can give you access to him."

"To who."

"To him."

I always liked the "abusive women can't let go" aspect of her relationship with Joker. But, I have a feeling that aspect will be dropped.

Anybody watching Panorama right now? About abusive relationships. Joker is a right dick :o

I don't see how it can be.

Feminist bloggers will be all over anything these days. If a female character in a movie suffers any negative consequences whatsoever, you're called a misogynist who "fridges" women.

That isn't my experience. I usually see some contextualization for such criticisms.

Didn't her character in WoWS have a semi-abusive relationship with DiCaprio's character?

That's an actual question, I still haven't seen the whole movie.

Okay, can anyone please make an avy for this?

There's like 3 people (not including me) that have Cara Delevingne and Margot has the much bigger and better role so....Yeah, please? ;)

It's part of who the character is. To have her be a straight up bad girl does the character a complete disservice. Her relationship with Joker by its very nature is completely unhealthy to her and that should be shown.

With the way people talk about her, one could think it wasn't a concern. Just as long as she's hawt, it's all good.

To be fair, in recent years she's shed that part of herself and has become an interesting character on her own right. I'd argue while it was an integral component of her development, she has a good chance of suceeding without it moving forward.

In any case the point is moot as Joker being in the film makes their classic dynamic an inevitability.
