The Dark Knight Look What I found At my Comic Book Store!

/Columbo

Oh, just one more thing, did you only find two uncolored and two colored cards? If so it seems like someone just took the Jokers out of two decks they had around the house as opposed to buying varied decks of Jokers like it appears the original goons had done.

Are you smelling fakery here?!

kidding

hah... hah... hah... hahchoo*sofake*

Excuse me. I'm a teeny beet allergic to BS. :woot:

Probably fan made. I think the next significant marketing thing we see will be something other than the cards in comic book stores.

I think these are fake. They look like somebody tried to write on them with an empty pen, while the original cards had been done with stamps (if you look at the original cards, the words "I believe in Harvey Dent, too" are exactly the same on each card, meaning they were stamped or printed on).

Agreed.

I have to tell you, if they continue this, and it looks like they will, this is the best marketing campaign for a comic book movie EVER.
Can't say that unless it makes more money than Spidey.

NICE - love this marketing campaign so far.

What if some shmo just decided to do this because he saw on the internet that they were doing this cool campaign. So he thought he would make up some Joker cards...

Could you imagine, how evil would that be...

I didn't see your post, but I was thinking the same thing.

(see my post above)

I can't wait to see the Penguin's viral marketing campaign

"I found this fake egg-grenade in the penguin habitat of the aquarium where I work..."

Eh, I'm leaning with "fake" too but I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it completely. Remember people said the same thing about the earlier cards and the earlier site and everything for like.... the entire time we were uncovering it. It was pretty annoying actually. Even BOF initially locked the thread on it on their site dismissing it as fake. So while I DO think it's probably fake, at least keep an eye out for any new sites or anything.

We should start out own TDK campaign... Just start making cheap, homemade Joker stuff and drop it off at comic shops. They seem willing to accept garbage.

The thing is, the original cards were well designed. The writing on them was clear and defined, a variety of different joker cards were used and the text on the cards led directly to the IBIHDT website. There were also several reports of the cards being found. These cards seem to be from only two card decks, have very poorly written words on them and offer no kind of clue. The writing on them seems to be done in ballpoint pen (it is difficult to write on playing cards with a ballpoint pen because of their glossy surface) and is barely even legible. Also, "See you in 08" doesn't mesh with the "See you in December" message found on the IBIHDT website, nor does it offer much of a mystery. We know that TDK comes out in 08. We don't know what it is that will come in December.

All this leads to a very obvious conclusion: These cards are not part of TDK's viral marketing campaign. Either someone thought it'd be funny or cool to drop faked cards in a random comic shop or GhostRider5006 faked them himself.

Looks like we've got a copycat on our hands...I believe 100% that WB anticipated this kind of cost-free publicity.

I'm going to say fake. Those aren't in the same style as the other cards, and they also have badly scribbled lettering. The official cards had the letters stamped on them and were much easier to read.

Plus he said the guy who owns the shop doesn't like The Joker.

How the **** can you not like The Joker?!

Especially if you own a comic book store.

Money has nothing to do with how creative a marketing campaign is. Plus, its his opinion, there isn't an official "Best Marketing Campaigns" ever list.
Well, considering the sole goal of a marketing campaign is to get as many people as possible to see your film, yes, Spidey does have the best marketing campaign.

TDK is more enjoyable perhaps, but we won't know until next Summer if it is "better."

He's saying that TDK has the most unique, creative and interesting marketing campaign, in his opinion. So Spidey making more money means jack ****, because the marketing for SM3 wasn't unique or creative at all by comparison.

He didn't say that. If he had, I wouldn't have responded. He said it was the best marketing for a comic book film ever. I merely stated that that can't be judged yet.

Yeah, but the guy was saying its the best creatively. You can easily assume that considering the film isn't even out yet, therefore he wouldn't be making a claim that it was the most lucrative marketing when we have yet to see any results.

It's okay. He said:
"I have to tell you, if they continue this, and it looks like they will, this is the best marketing campaign for a comic book movie EVER."
Which doesn't sound like an opinion, but rather a fact, a thing people do that annoys me. I didn't mean for it to be a big deal.

The presence of the word "best" outright states it as opinion. No fact-based sentence can have the word "best". (<-- expcet that one, but it doesn't count since it's in quotations")

But anyways, I doubt these are real. It just doens't fit, and See You In 08 is a pointless message. Too bad, I really want the next step in this marketing campaign to be revealed.
