Lounge of Justice - Part 3

Just watched Batman Begins again and what an incredibly good movie it is. Seriously I don't think anyone can ever get even remotely close to what Nolan did with Batman and CBM's for that matter. He is on a different level.

I loved TDKR, Flashpoint Paradox and Assault On Arkham. Then I watched JL:War and fell asleep.

And yeah, Daredevil stomps. Best superhero show there is imo.

Completely agreed on all things. Seems like we have similar taste. Great minds and all that.

Edit : I sugges you watch JL : New Frontier. Its also up there amongst my favourites.

No doubts about that, man. I would've quoted your whole post for truth, but I did see Thor and it was really meh for me. :p

Forgot to tell you guys about this, but a few weeks back I went to see "Lights Out" with co-workers. Here's the actual conversation I had after the film with my boss.

Me: So what'd you think?
Boss: I thought it was kinda corny.
Me: Really? Why?
Boss: He easily could've killed them all right when he saw them the first time.
Me: ...Right when the blind guy saw them?
Boss: Yeah.

This ain't related to BvS or anything like that, but it really made me realize how modern audiences are just looking for things, just anything to pick apart. She even had people agreeing with her. It's like they found one thing to hate and latched on to it, despite there being ample evidence in the film (like it's goddamn entire premise) to the contrary.

Either that or they'd all just binge-watched Daredevil and figured all blind people have secret fire vision and can smell your dirty socks from a half marathon away.

The nitpicking mentality is very real and its become more popular due to youtube channels like Everything wrong with and honest trailers.

And it's not even a nitpick. At least a nitpick has some credible basis. It's just a gripe over a really minor detail. But what we're seeing now, it's just an aversion to actually paying attention. People need to realize it's okay to not like a movie and be unable to articulate why. You don't have to find a reason. And if you do, I mean, just think about it before slipping into outrage.

People only nitpick movies that try to present a serious or relevant or grounded story. How much nitpicking do you hear from the GA about Civil War, for example? Really not much. If the movie presents itself as light and fluffy it become bulletproof from criricism because the filmakers intent is to not present anything deep or connecting, just popcorn.

That must be why Green Lantern was such a hit.

Good grief bringing this crap over to a Lounge thread? You fools don't have enough threads to cry over this crap?

I wasn't tryna start a Marvel vs. DC thing here. I'm just saying that audiences generally seem to be armchair critics lately and don't pay nearly as much attention. I can't help but feel like that's contributed to the ever-expanding summer box office season. Used to start in May. This year it started in February. These films are just so much more easily digestible and therefore allow people to have an inflated sense of critical perception. And with the advent of social media, they can now fire off whatever nonsense they've come up with to their thousands of dumbass followers.

We've given the tools and the audience to dumb people to say dumb things to a bunch of other dummies.

Yeah this is not meant to be a DC v Marvel. It is easier to compare franchises though, and apart from these, X-men, there's nothing else relevant to compare. Fast and Furious, Misdion Impossible, Harry Potter?

Pretty sure Da-Scribe was trying to talk about nitpicking in general and not in regards to superhero movies.

Chill, guys.

I think we all need to fight... weapons... all of that... Anchorman style...

I call the Minotaur

Where's Super Mega Death Christ when you need him?

We can't. Now every relationship ever is going down the drain, romance is dead! :o

How indeed... Brad's cool. Never liked Jolie. I always thought her beauty was extremely overrated.

Brad's cool? He had an affair with Jolie during the time he was with Aniston and left her for Anj.

The last time I liked either of them was probably 15 years ago.

Alright, that wasn't cool. But they ended up having children and stayed together for 10 or more years. It wasn't like Depp - leaving his wife and kids for a younger hottie just to get divorced again after a year.

Goddamn. Always pegged them for a happily every after kinda couple. I remember reading how Brad got her through a very tough time when she was depressed. Very surprised to hear this. Also kind of makes me sad as a whole of what this signifies in everyone's life.

What do we really know? Maybe it's for the better for both of them.
