I hope that Tuesday news isn't an Elseworlds Superman movie. Either do the real thing or do some other character.

What'd you guys think of "The Florida Project"?

I think BN gonna love it.

LMAO, I love Pride & Prejudice, so I couldn't help but enjoy that movie a little bit. Matt Smith as Mr. Collins was A+, parody or not.

Speaking of Bella Heathcote, I just watched Professor Marston & the Wonder Women, and she was quite good in it. In fact, the movie as a whole was better than I'd expected.
Yeah I've been looking forward to watching that Marston movie. Also, Heathcote is in The Neon Demon which I haven't seen yet.

Dafoe, Harrelson and Plummer are not even bothering to attend the BAFTAs and only Rockwell and Grant will show up, which is wise because they are only two with a shot at winning. I love Hugh but if he steals that Bafta for Paddington 2 I'm gonna lose my cool :funny:

I cannot wait for this Oscar season to end this is nerve-wracking :funny:

I thoroughly enjoyed Del Toro's 'The Shape of Water'.

Sally Hawkins is superb as Elisa and Michael Shannon's Strickland is an absolute charming chap with his "Alabama how-dee-do". I like how Del Toro managed to create a pastiche of golden age song-and-dance routines, adding in cinematic features like The Book of Ruth, Mardi Gras and Temple & Robinson in 'The Little Colonel', and period specific civil right protests, closeted homosexuality and Cold War paranoia.

I see some visual influences/nods from Bride of Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Swamp Things amongst others.

A solid 5/5 stars.

I haven't seen any of these movies. I'm basically 9 months behind because that's how long it takes to get to my TV.

I thought it was....fine. It's charming and all but overhyped. The performances are all right with Jenkins being the highlight. Definitely a step up, though, from whatever Crimson Peak was.

It was more than fine to me --I used to watch a lot of this type of films. I will agree though that it Del Toro is returning a bit to his Pan's Labyrinth/pre-Pan's Labyrinth root.

Don't think that it was overhyped at all, now the Last Jedi (which I have not seen lol) and JL (which I have seen once) are definitely overhyped films.

It has 14 Oscar nominations when a movie like Logan has 1. In those terms to me it's massively overhyped.

How is JL overhyped when most people say it's either atrocious or a mess? As for The Last Jedi you didn't even see it so I cannot even comment on that opinion....

Any film that's in the running for an Oscar is going to be overhyped.

Which is the case every year... It's nothing new.

I'd actually dig a Golden Age Superman movie.

Damn the 3D printing tech Hasbro has is uncanny.

Do it up, fam.

Damn those action figures have amazing likeness. Which are they again?

Hope's head is a little big, but Rudd's face is great. His expression! :funny:

LOL! That used to be me every year except with other gadgets. Now I've calmed down and decided my bills need paying. :cmad:

I wasn't referring to hype in term of award nominations, rather in term of pre-release media & fan hypes.

I haven't paid much attention to the award news, however I'm not surprised that The Shape of Water got the 14 nominations. The film is beautifully made and emotionally resonant --especially with the kind of academy award voters. To put it in a simple term --it's a well crafted film. Though I would have it mainly for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing.

Logan got the one nomination --I suspected mainly because of its nature as a cbm film (in the p.o.v of the academy voters) and the knowledge of previous variation of the characters (X-Men cinematic universe).

Haha yeah, I should be wise and invest the return into something else (house).

That definitely sounds like a very good idea haha. One day I'll be able to do the same. I specially want to get one to be able to have a yard for my doggo to run around freely and enjoy himself. That will be a great day. :woot:
