Crazy Rich Asians script is fantastic. Sonoya Mizuno has a good role, but not big enough imo. Anyway, I expect this to do well with the main audiences. Our asian brehs need more mainstream hits and I think this will be one.

Loved the animated series, haven't seen them again tho. I'm surprised that no Studio has shown any interest in the property. Another one is Gargoyles.

Warner Bros. owns 'Thundercats' and Disney owns 'Gargoyles'.

I think it's just that no one has come to either WB or Disney with a good pitch for a movie with these two IPs. Plus I don't think any high profile Hollywood producer/director/actor has showed any interest for these two properties otherwise there would be some moving pieces for an adaptation on the big screen.

I feel like Hollywood is trying to ride this whole 80s nostalgia wave right now after IT and Stranger things and I don't know if it's a trend that actually has legs. I enjoyed those two because they were well made and had engaging characters, not specifically because they were set in the 80s. Hell, I was born in the 90s.

Well I was born in the late 80s, so I don't exactly remember them, but they seem to have rocked.

i remember as a little kid riding in my uncle's car back in the 80s.
he was dressed like don johnson from miami vice (wearing loafers with no socks on) while the gawddamn scorpions was playing from his cassette tape!

On the 80s nostalgia wave, I'm telling you guys, it'd be a perfect time to make a Dragon Ball movie. Keep that 80s aesthetic in tact. Bulky looking tech, big hair, leg warmers, all that stuff. Mix in some adorable kids (child Krillin would be a damn hit) and some intense action and you've got a winner.

And I firmly believe they should lead with DB before hitting DBZ. Though the space opera aspect of DBZ is hard to pass on given the success of franchises like Star Wars and espcially GotG.

They gotta tone down Master Roshi though. He will not fly as is in our current social climate. You can keep some of his freaky aspects, but the character needs a bit of a makeover.

so his girlfriend at the time was living in a buddhist monastery in the usa - she's from asia and needed a place to stay and happens that one of the monks there is her uncle or something.

one day one of the monks' computers caught a virus so they had my friend check on it since he works in the tech industry.

my friend told me he found lot of porn links that the monks were looking up on the internet. haha.

funny cuz they suppose to be abstaining from all that sort of thing.

Freaking amazing. I chuckle whenever I see old pics of my parents from that time before I was born. On one hand it's kind of cringy, but on the other you just can't help but smile. Many people who remember growing up at that time say how much they love it. I guess it's really no different than anyone who remembers their formative years fondly. Yeah, but there's a ton of great stuff in DB and honestly I have no clue how DBZ ever even made since to me without having initially watched DB. So much of the backstory from DB comes into play with zero explanation or context.

Way I see it though, make the DB films and if they're successful, then the DBZ film will be a gahdamn event. Plus you got the added benefit of giving our Asian brehs tons of work.
