I think GL is in that Superman position in which they gotta get it absolutely right next time, or else peace out to ANY future films down the road. In a way, I feel like Aquaman doing great at the box office will give you GL fans another shot soon imo. WB/DC needs to go into space again, fam. lol
Well, at least Zack gave us a cool shot of a GL, even briefly.
Aquaman's success will hopefully give WB some confidence to back their non Supes-Bats characters. If GLC gets done right I think it would be one of the biggest DCEU films they could make.
Exactly. (With SS I think it's more that people say that the film changed tone to be more like GotG rather than that it was inspired by or greenlit because of GotG)
The MCU is apparently going to go more cosmic going forward, so I hope successes there can convince the WB execs that there is a killing to be made with GLC if they play it right.

idk if he was supposed to be old and weary, but he looked dead inside & out

What a crazy year!lol basically they have THREE movies big enough to be the annual event film, all released within 4 months of each other
THEN they have Frozen 2 and SW9 withink 2 months of each other.
I feel like Allan Horn or whoever is running the show just wanna retire quickly, or they wanna rake up the $$$ to buy Universal or something
That's really cool, I think from your previous posts we would disagree on a lot of DC Movies but that's almost exactly what I would discribe it as.I'm just back from seeing Aquaman. Thought it was a really enjoyable, solid action-adventure movie from James Wan. The visuals are incredible.
Also, he managed to get a Depeche Mode song in there. That's extra points right there.
Wouldn't that just lead to another case of DC copying Marvel for the general audience who don't know anything about the comics? I think the reason WW and AQ are doing so well is partially because they are literally doing the first of their kind of movie, with WW being the first *successful* female led CBM, and Aquaman being an SFX achievement about an underwater world. The MCU is apparently going to go more cosmic going forward, so I hope successes there can convince the WB execs that there is a killing to be made with GLC if they play it right.
Why are you striking Dark Phoenix out of the race when it's got the Fury Road trinity?Fury Road stunt team worked on Aquaman too.

This ain't it, chief.
Matt Murdock's new job ain't going too well lol.
speaking of...
@KalvinEllis, did you see Venom yet and what'd ya think?
I really do mean it when I said this made me think of what a GL movie could be possible of.

Yes that sounds perfect. Get Hal Jordan, John Stewart and Jessica Cruz in there. They could basically get Wan to produce the film and apply the same formula to GLC - a fantasy/large scope movie with a badass Jessica Cruz and some Black and Latino characters in there.
I felt Sinister 6 inspired WB to make a SS movie and even released it before the supposed Sinister 6 date (though that film got canned after ASM2)
Then GOTG came out and all of a sudden it inspired SS, WTF.
I totally thought after watching GOTG - "this is what 2011's GL should have been!"
That's why I was surprised to see WB not only hiring James Gunn but not putting him on GL, heard he's suppose to be the architect for Marvel space universe.
Maybe we have McQ or Doug Liman in store, since T Cruise is sticking around waiting for the script he wants and WB and McQ talked last Oct.

Ah I didn't even think of Sinister 6. Gunn could have done the same job for the DCEU he was supposed to do for Marvel in building up the cosmic side of the universe. Maybe he still will but just fancied SS2 first. Any of those would be fine for GL. Is the Tom Cruise talk serious?
Being a first a number of times is great but it is also absolutely unsustainable if you are looking at creating a large number of films over a long period. The MCU is improving with late sequels (although that may be difficult with something like Black Panther) and there is no reason why WW and AM can't improve WW next time out if executed well. Space is not exactly something original and also is a big old place. If the MCU goes cosmic that doesn't mean you should rule out all DC cosmic properties. This worry about copying Marvel is a part of the reason why things went **** up in the first place. There's nothing wrong with using a similar structure or similar setting, just make the films themselves original.Wouldn't that just lead to another case of DC copying Marvel for the general audience who don't know anything about the comics? I love it, personally. They've officially strayed away from just the MCU and taking on Marvel as a whole with stuff like BoP (and the fantabalous emancipation of one Harley Quinn) and Joker.Being a first a number of times is great but it is also absolutely unsustainable if you are looking at creating a large number of films over a long period. I call that just having good ideas and doing good stuff. If you do that then it doesn't matter what Marvel or anyone else are doing. If you execute good ideas well you will be rewarded well, and fans will be happy whether that reward is more or less than the guys next door.I love it, personally.
