All of this. Also, particularly in more modern takes, Highfather can be a bit of a hypocrite.
I think a well made New Gods movie can be something truly fantastic and continue the fantasy extravaganza feel given by the world building of Aquaman, or what I personally would have liked out of the first Thor movie if they completely eliminated the Earth parts and just focused on this alien worlds and its inhabitants. I believe it can be something truly special.
Also, reading the original Kirby run, I feel that despite how outdated the dialogues can be (if we can agree that comic book dialogues didn't get really "sophisticated" and subtle until the last 20-30 years), you can see how progressive and ahead of its time it was for the time period (60s).
I love Kirby, but subtlety was never the Kings speciality.
I agree about Highfather, recently he's been shown as quite militaristic, but he's the ultimate peace-nic hippy.
Highfather was once the great warrior Izaya, but he saw the folly of war and traded his weapons for a shepherds staff.
