Dan Stevens would make a good Sinestro.
I don't have much familiarity with Billy/Shazam as a character, so I find this assessment intriguing. I don't feel I can get too far thinking about it until I have a firmer foundation, though. How do you or do the comics define "wisdom," for example? I did some digging, and one of the first things I found described the Wisdom power as follows:
S for the Wisdom of Solomon: Solomon was the third king of united Israel in historical times. According to the Bible God blessed him with supernatural wisdom at his request to lead Israel. Captain Marvel has instant access to a vast amount of knowledge. The wisdom of Solomon is sometimes known as the Wisdom of the Ancients. Captain Marvel has superhuman clairvoyance and awareness. He is provided with counsel and advice in times of need. Captain Marvel has knowledge of all languages, ancient and modern warfare, and can hypnotize or enchant people with his power. The power of wisdom lends him knowledge far beyond mortal comprehension.
- Superhuman Knowledge: Captain Marvel has exceptional photographic recall and mental acuity allowing him to read and decipher hieroglyphics, recall everything he has ever learned and solve long mathematical equations. Instantaneously he can make intuitive guesses based on limited data; to the point his guesses are almost always correct; also he has a great understanding of divine phenomenon in the mortal world.
- Clairvoyance: Captain Marvel possesses an uncanny awareness of his circumstances that allows him to turn disadvantages into advantages.
- Hypnosis: Through sheer power and magic he can hypnotize people for length of time (undetermined). Only those of great willpower can overcome this ability.
- Omni-lingual: He can speak every language known to humans as well as ancient or dead languages and is able to understand aliens.
From what I can tell, these seem to be closer to actual powers or abilities than a generalized sense of maturity. I'm even left to wonder about people in real life. Can one act child-like and still be wise? In the Bible, I believe part of what moves God to bless Solomon with wisdom is the fact that Solomon wasn't seeking something selfish. If Billy, in a key moment, chooses to share his power with his foster siblings instead of hoard it, or if he makes other crucial choices from a place of fairness and compassion, then is he not acting wise?
That's what I'm saying if granting vast powers (that includes wisedom) can turn anyone into a person having same level of wisdom, power, abilities, then what's the point of choosing ? I mean a person A with great and infinite wisdom will be no different from Person B with same set of abilities.
Clearly, that's not the case as the Wizard is choosy, this means that in-spite of getting wisdom and powers, Billy's original personality is still intact, so if a 15 year old Billy is goofy and clumsy, the adult Captain Marvel will also be somewhat goofy and clumsy, in-spite of having Solomon's Wisdom.
And, how will Billy as captain Marvel use that wisdom ? when will he use it ? He will get better at it with experience.
As with all superheroes who've been around for decades, his powers have changed over time.
I'm not sure what would be the best way to define it might be, there are a lot of fun examples of how he's used it over the years:
The World's Mightiest Mortal!: Captain Marvel's Powers: The Wisdom of Solomon
Personally I'm drawn towards going back to the source with King Solomon asking for the wisdom to lead his people. So I'd have it be sound judgement and power of reasoning. Rather than a great amount of factual knowledge or clairvoyance / hypnotism, it's being able to assess a situation, weigh up the options are determine the best path to take. It would guard him against rash actions, from being careless or foolish.
There are plenty of "super-smart" heroes, but that is usually only expressed by inventing things or being good with computers. Rarely does it manifest as good judgement. Rather than smart, I think of wisdom as thoughtfulness or insight.
Perhaps a take on it would be that he literally has Solomon's memories, that he has the benefit of knowing what Solomon knew, learning from Solomon's mistakes and instantly gaining decades of life experience.
Hal Jordan.
Yeah, that's probably too obvious tho, maybe Oliver Queen or Ted Kord instead?
You just wait... It gets better And more brutal3 episodes into Punisher S2, loving it.
That bathroom fight scene in the first episode was awesome (and the cinematography simply beautiful) and it's keeping a pretty solid pace; I don't understand comments I saw about it starting slow, it started with a bang!![]()
Two retired supers getting back into super-ing. That's about it. Luke Cage has 3 main villains vying for dominance over each other. I think Black Lightning only has one. He's pretty much Kingpin. Black Lightning has his family & school drama. LC has a lady cop, a barbershop, and Rosario Dawson.Btw.... im watching Black Lightning for the first time and i actually liked it, im only episode 2 but yeah, its cool.
Only funny thing is the music lol, sometimes it puts me off, like u have a club scene and i was expecting electronic music and boom!! it was all rapso overall, its a great show minus the music
now i wonder if i should see Luke Cage after this one. Are both similar? Luke Cage and Black Lightning?
All the praise I hear is that it's a tonal follow-up to his previous movies whereas the trailers make it seem like you'd get a thrilling beat-em' up.Hm, Shyamalan’s not grtting raked at the coals like I thought he would. A lot of people seemed to like Glass, in fact it seems like another sharp divide between critics and audience.

I have not seen it yet, but i'm told he drops the ball big time the last half of the film. If it sucks, I will simply smoke enough green eyed love to make me forget it exist, kinda like I did with both Matrix sequels. I can't really remember any scenes from either now.
releases 4 days from today. How'd you watch it?
