Caught JW3 today. Final fight was dragging as hell and I got bored. Enjoyable overall but first two are superior for me.

It's fine, I really enjoyed it.

It felt like a Monsters University redux, i.e a disappointing sequel to a movie I love.

WIR2:RBTI had none of the charm of the 1st one. That's 0k as the endearing quality of the 1st movie was always gonna be hard to replicate but the movie is not even funny.

I haven't seen Emoji Movie. So I can't compare them.

The different components of Internet (as well as the merits and demerits of Internet usage) are well integrated into the plot. But the movie doesn't stand out in any broader aspect. I needed to latch onto something to like it but the characters, the humor and the thematic elements just didn't land for me.

I had high hopes for the synergy stuff from the other disney products. I thought it'll be a lot of fun. But none of that meta stuff worked.

I gotta laugh at this new Shaft movie. The marketing drastically changed from promoting it as a young Shaft movie co starring SLJ and Roundtree to a full blown SLJ Shaft sequel. I guess the marketing guys saw the response to the first trailer and shifted gears.

Oh i havent seen it, its not out yet, but Ive taken note from the ads ive seen of it that theyre minimizing the focus on Jessie Usher and focusing on Sam Jackson now. That first trailer focused primarily on the “young Shaft” aspect of it and made it look like a goofy action comedy starting Jessie Usher as the new Shaft but now they’re like “uuuhhh did you like the 2000 movie? Well Sam Jackson’s back!”

I havent seen Shaft (2000) in at least 15 years. Im sure Black Dynamite is light years better than it though. I love that movie. Lol

It's good but it's an entirely different kind of movie than Black Dynamite. It more or less plays the material straight. Also baby Christian Bale is in it.
