RT didnt even give Anna a consensus. Damn. Sad situation all around.
Anna
Sexy. Fun. Cliche. Sexist. Violent. Bloody.

I glanced at the RT score and can't help but shake my head. It does not deserve that score. Of the recent female spy flicks like Atomic Blonde and Red Sparrow, I had a lot more fun watching this and this is the better movie as well. I felt like Atomic Blonde was ALMOST there, it never really hit John Wick levels or even surpassed that flick, but there was a sense of almost there. I feel like Luc Besson felt the same and made his own Atomic Blonde, and even if Atomic Blonde had better fights, this sure has a better story and actually made me care for the lead (Sasha Luss), even if her accent is awful, but I got use to her as it went along. . I sure as hell will rewatch this in a second over Atomic Blonde and RedSparrow.
I still am of the mindset of separating the art from the artist. This is not a bad movie at all. So it tells me that most critics just didn't want that on their heads, to each their own, but I do feel like them knives were already out for Besson, and they should be! But in the court of law. I can understand why most won't want to be neutral when it comes to that and that is their choice, just like it is mine to be unapologetic about enjoying the hell out of this.
8/10

I trust ya man, i think you and I share similar tastes with this genre. I love sexy, stylish, violent, noir thrillers, not enough of em nowadays. Especially one with a badass female lead so this looks up my alley.
On another similar note have you checked out Carla Gugino’s Jett series? Im planning to this weekend, that looks all sorts of good.
After underwhelming response to Fantastic Beasts franchise and WB's Monsterverse, I think the Studio is fully committed to DC movies, as it's the main money making franchise they have now.
Hope that makes them more serious about another Superman movie, because at the end of the day, MoS still brought in money, even though it was not quite what they were expecting.
It’s great. Easily my favorite live-action DC show.Any thoughts on the first 4 episodes of Swamp Thing? I keep seeing good reviews but haven't decided whether to check it out yet.
I'll just leave that here
I bought Charlize in Atomic Blonde, I thought she did great.Say what you will about Anna, but it hit the spot. It's just another in a growing list of recent movies where critics and audience disagree, especially since the RT audience score is a lot more accurate nowadays with the verified ticket purchase requirement. Sasha Luss is also hnnnngh af. After all the female John Wicks going around, this one actually managed to pull off the action believable imo, probably the only one who's action scenes can reasonably be dubbed the female John Wick, despite her supermodel frame. I see Sasha being an up and coming action star in the years to come.

...I was anticipating that as not every comic book is an action movie in the making. Will give it another go, since Leitch is still a quick wit kind of director.Theron was great in Atomic Blonde, the problem is that movie had disjointed pacing and plotting and was misadvertized as a John Wick-like action film when it was really a convoluted spy movie with one big action set piece in it.

All of the above? I think they chose a great way of introducing the character, using Abby as an audience entry point instead of Alec. There have been a couple moments where the writing has felt a bit CW-y, but they were fleeting. The actors are good, I'm pleasantly surprised by Crystal Reed as I was not expecting much from her based on Gotham. The VFX are good but what I love more are all the practical effects. I was not expecting so much of those and they are used to great effect here - lots of good body horror. I just love the whole atmosphere and vibe of it (shooting in North Carolina was indeed a plus in that instance, whether it had anything to do with the show's demise or not), and it really does a great job of getting you interested in the characters, because when you have one who, after the pilot, won't exactly be very talkative and is played by two different actors, you have to get the audiences invested in him early, and the show certainly pulled that off, imo. I think it's just done a great job establishing a unique world that you wanna spend more time in. It's pretty much the only live-action DC show I've ever had the urge to constantly re-watch throughout the week.Glad to hear. Anything that stood out in particular? The writing, the tone, the VFX, etc.
