4chan does it again. Though some of those "DC movie updates" sound so detailed and in line with actual official news, that I honestly won't be surprised if some of it does end up being accurate. Beware of potential spoilers:

- The DCEU is not dead, but it is in the backburner. Warner wants to focus on individual franchises now, but plans to revisit crossovers further down the line.

- Henry Cavill is still attached to Superman at the moment, but Warner has no plans for the character, especially since Cavill is demanding creative control over new projects. His contract ends soon and a renewal doesn’t appear likely.

- Ben Affleck is no longer attached to Batman. Matt Reeves’ movie will be a complete reboot. Consequently, Jeremy Irons and J.K. Simmons will be recast as well.

- Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher are no longer attached to Flash and Cyborg either. THE FLASH is still in development, but CYBORG is on hold.

- Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa and Margot Robbie remain attached to Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Harley Quinn and set to star in several sequels over the next 5-10 years.

- MAN OF STEEL, BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE and JUSTICE LEAGUE are largely being ignored moving forward. They won’t be directly contradicted, but nothing from them will be referenced anymore either.

- The “Snyder Cut” doesn’t exist, at least not in the way his fans believe it does. He assembled a rough cut before departing the project, and there are several semi-finished deleted scenes that he shot, but there’s no finished cut ready for release, and Warner won’t spend money making one.

- JOKER, BIRDS OF PREY and WONDER WOMAN 1984 are currently in post-production.

- THE SUICIDE SQUAD, THE BATMAN, THE TRENCH and BLACK ADAM are currently in pre-production.

- AQUAMAN 2, SHAZAM 2, THE FLASH, GREEN LANTERN CORPS and SUPERGIRL are currently in active development.

- JOKER is a standalone movie and won’t connected to Matt Reeves’ Batman, though Warner might try to push for a sequel if the movie does well at the box office.

- BIRDS OF PREY is prepping test-screenings for both a PG-13 cut and an R-rated cut before deciding on the rating. It’s pretty much a dark action/comedy either way, with the Birds of Prey stepping up to protect Gotham after Batman’s disappearance. As previously reported, the villain is Black Mask played by Ewan McGregor.

- WONDER WOMAN 1984 has had positive test-screenings recently. Pickups later this year. As previously reported, the villains are Maxwell Lord and Cheetah played by Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig.

- THE SUICIDE SQUAD prepping for principal photography. The villains will be the meta-human terrorist cell Onslaught, with Benicio Del Toro in advanced negotiations to play their leader, Rustam. Conversations with both Alfred Molina and Cliff Curtis for Onslaught’s employer, President Hurambi. Idris Elba is playing Bronze Tiger. Matthew McConaughey has been asked to voice King Shark. Warner will likely test both a PG-13 cut and an R-rated cut before making a final decision.

- THE BATMAN casting supporting characters. Follows young Batman investigating a series of murders connected to his greatest enemies. Riddler and Two-Face are the main villains, with Catwoman, Penguin, Firefly and Mad Hatter in supporting roles. Two-Face is closest to being cast, Oscar Isaac is in talks. Reps being approached for actors Warner and Reeves are interested for Riddler, like James McAvoy and Ben Foster; Catwoman, like Ana de Armas and Claire Foy; and Penguin, like Andy Serkis and Michael Stuhlbarg. Firefly and Mad Hatter will hold auditions. They’re also casting for Alfred, Gordon, Lucius Fox, Harvey Bullock and Vicki Vale. Richard E. Grant has emerged as a favorite for Alfred.

- THE TRENCH in active development. Gary Dauberman is in talks to direct. Low-budget, PG-13 action/horror movie, featuring a group of marine rescuers, the Sea Devils, crossing paths with the Trench. Quick shoot, small cast, unknown actors. Probably releasing in 2021.

- BLACK ADAM gearing up for casting. Follows Black Adam returning after millennia in exile to reclaim his homeland of Khandaq and facing off against the Justice Society formed by Hawkman, Stargirl and Atom-Smasher. Vandal Savage is the main villain. While actors haven’t yet been approached, Dwayne Johnson is pushing for Eiza Gonzalez to play his love interest, Adrianna Tomaz, while Ray Stevenson has frequently been brought up for Savage. Stargirl and Atom-Smasher are searching for actors of all ethnicities in their mid-to-late 20s, while Hawkman is eyeing physically imposing actors in their early 30s to early 40s and Adrianna’s young brother Amon is searching for Hispanic/Middle-Eastern boys between 8 and 10. Probably releasing in 2022.

- SHAZAM 2 in script development. David F. Sandberg and the main cast set to return. Doctor Sivana and Mister Mind expected to be the main villains. Probably releasing in 2022 alongside BLACK ADAM.

- AQUAMAN 2 in script development. James Wan and the main cast set to return. Smaller and more personal than the first movie. Black Manta and Mera’s sister Siren will be the villains. The Others will also appear. Releasing in 2022.

- THE FLASH in script development. John Daley & John Goldstein still set to direct. Warner really likes their pitch, which explores a friendship-turned-rivalry between Barry Allen and Eobard Thawne. Lucas Till is only one of several actors being eyed to replace Miller, other names that frequently pop up are Ansel Elgort, Taron Egerton and Dylan O’Brien. Daley & Goldstein are writing Thawne with their friend Billy Magnussen in mind. Captain Cold and Heatwave are also featured in the script.

- SUPERGIRL in script development. Reed Morano is the frontrunner to direct. Latest draft is set in the 1980’s and doesn’t feature Superman. Brainiac is the main villain. Supporting characters include Zor-El and Alura, Kara Zor-El’s biological parents; Frank and Evelyn Danvers, a human couple who shelters Kara Zor-El; Chase and Henderson, government agents searching for Supergirl; and a group of young adults that Supergirl befriends – Ben, Kate, Owen and Max. Warner has high hopes for the character to launch a successful, all-ages franchise that revitalizes the brand. While they’re waiting for a lock on Morano before casting, they’re already rounding up potential actresses in their early-to-mid 20s for Kara, including Elle Fanning, Anya Taylor-Joy, Haley Lu Richardson, Kathryn Newton, Lili Reinhart and Stefanie Scot among them.

- GREEN LANTERN CORPS in script development. Terry Rossio currently polishing Geoff Johns’ latest draft. The pitch remains veteran Hal Jordan training rookie John Stewart. Latest drafts features Sinestro and the Manhunters as villains, and Katma Tui as Sinestro’s daughter and John’s love interest. Bradley Cooper and Michael B. Jordan are Warner’s choices for Hal and John, but offers haven’t been made. Waiting for a lock on script before approaching directors again, though there are some favored names like Michael Dougherty and Miguel Sapochik.

KC Walsh and the Thomas guy from GWW hinted Del Toro as Vandal Savage, so we'll see who's right. Is this post written by someone who got things right in the past?

I do believe we'll see Supergirl fight Braniac on film before Supes does.
Oh yes, I absolutely believe Brainiac will be her villain, as we've been hearing that from the beginning, and I'm weirdly ok with that, as he just so happens to be the ONE Superman Big Bad that I feel could be better-suited to Kara anyway since they have a history and he is more personal to her. But I'm not here for any of that other crap about setting it in the 80's and not involving Superman in her origin at all. No thanks to that.

Those rumors just seemed way too juicy not to repost here. lol Besides I rarely ever see this type of detail in most "scoops" I usually stumble upon. To go from character descriptions for supporting cast who don't come from the comics, to writers rewriting already rewritten scripts isn't something I tend to see often from scoopers, which is another reason this caught me off guard, since it's not like it comes from some scooper who may have heard something legitimate but decided to embellish the story to get more clicks. I just didn't get what would someone on 4chan gain by meticulously making all this stuff up.
I don't know why, either, but they do. I've seen some super-imaginative fanfic scenarios masquerading as "scoops." Some people just...like spending their time that way, I guess.

I don't follow ice hockey, but bravo for the effort.

We drafted his linemate who currently holds the record of number of goals in the US hockey program (under 18).

I'm not sure who it was posted by, it was an anonymous user who I believe mentioned something about it coming from "Warner Staff". I think the original thread is deleted now, which I'm not sure whether it indicates something or not. Do threads on 4chan usually get deleted quickly if they turn out to be accurate?

No, just what the mods deem as spam or making room for new threads. If that was posted on a more obscure subforum, then it probably would've stuck around longer due to low traffic.

Looks like Annabelle 3 is a win, with the early reactions out.

Just saw Lost Highway for the very first time, and what an experience!

David Lynch has been one of those guys I've admired for years now, based on what I know of him and his work and approach more than the actual work (has that ever happened to you guys?? Maybe it's kinda weird), and a problem for me has always been accessibility, since most of the stuff I find of his in my paid services are dubbed in German... or Twin Peaks (which I'm a few episodes in).

Either way, derailing here... that was a proper mind twister and one I feel the need to watch a few times to "get it" (although I'm pretty sure I got everything that needs to be....gotten??).

I've also forgotten how hnnnnngggghhh Patricia Arquette was in the 90s.... :hmr: :hmr: :hmr:

Now I've got Bowies "I'm deranged" stuck in my head!
Lost Highway is great, I'm a big fan of David Lynch.
Most of his stuff is very mind melting, his version of Dune is actually one of his most normal films.
I hope you like Twin Peaks, it's one of my favourite shows of all time.

Honestly, the only reason I hesitated and haven't gone full-on with Twin Peaks, is the fact that these days I'm looking for more short-lived content; something like Good Omens, for example, which was only 6 episodes....short and sweet! Twin Peaks having close to 50 episodes (including "The Return" and whatnot) was what kept me away for a while, but Lost Highway did enough to get me on the Lynch hype, so I guess I'll be catching up soon.

Twin Peaks is a big commitment, but if you like Lynch it's worth the investment.
Just so you know, there is a bit of a lull halfway through the second season, but it has one hell of a finale. And The Return is glorious, simply glorious.

4chan does it again.

Why would they put DCEU on back-burner ? It's not like Fantastic Beasts franchise or Godzilla-verse, or Pickachu series have been wildly successful (or, more successful than DCEU) the only money making franchise that's commercially and (to a lesser extent Critically) successful is DCEU.

DCEU has earned $5.275 billion after 7 movies. Which makes it most successful franchise they have right now. Also, the Box Office collections to Budget ratio of MoS is higher than that of Detective Pickachu, if WB consider that (Pikachu) to be successful then MoS is bit more successful and they don't have to pay license fees to use Superman like they have to for using Pikachu (to Nintendo.)

What about "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with me"?? Where does it fit?

People always seem to blur the lines of “DC not living up to its full potential” with “utter failure.” On no planet is the DCEU even close to a failure, especially after the smash successes of Wonder Woman and Aquaman who ironically both debuted in critically panned films. Shazam may not have made that much money but the amount of goodwill it garnered you can bet your bottom dollar the sequel will rake in big bucks. It just got buried under Endgame’s shadow unfortunately.

You referring to that nonsense 4chan leak that was going around? I got the sense the context meant the shared universe stuff was going on the back burner, which is obvious by now and doesn't even really qualify as a "leak." Just like the bit claiming that WB was going to downplay and ignore BVS going forward. Yeah, no ####, we're getting a new Batman and Superman probably won't be coming back anytime soon.

That's one of the ways you can spot a fake. There'll be a lot of common sense conclusions being touted as leaked insider information.

Agreed and DCEU sells a ton of merchandise too.

It's a prequel but shouldn't be watched before.
The series is about investigating the murder of Laura Palmer.
Fire Walk With Me is a film the follows the last week of her life, don't watch it until the series has revealed who killed her, otherwise you are in for gargantuan spoilers.
I'd recommend watching it between Twin Peaks and Twin Peaks:The Return.

Yeah and I see Superman as a viable franchise, his last appearance (not counting headless cameo in Shazam) in JL was received well.

At least Superman is in a better position than Flash or Green Lantern, lol.

Is there a special Batman Forever occasion? I see a few avatars for that movie around the Hype.

Mulholland Drive is one of my favourite movies ever. If you haven't seen it in English yet, then I highly recommend it. Blue Velvet is also a great movie and one of the best I have ever seen.
