The Boys

Season 2 so far. Bloody great. I also think Amazon is milking the hell out of this with their ''new episodes'' every friday bs, just release them all at once goddamn it. Butcher saying the 'C word' is like music to my ears. Karen Fukuhara without saying a goddamn word is so great, it only makes me angry to know how wasted she was in Suicide Squad. I also prefer this version of Aquaman.

Those abs...

They need to bring Katana back int he DCEU.

I'm glad that Tenet is flopping big time. Nolan needed to be brought down a peg.

As for Tenet saving cinemas

I don't know what they were thinking. Some major markets are still closed!

Theaters are slowly but surely opening up. Tenet will be the easy go-to pick, and they’re hedging bets audiences will continue to pick it as people start getting comfortable going out these next few months.

The long game will be beneficial as long as competition is thin.

You're starting to sound like this one guy I saw on YT a few days ago that told people not to see Tenet and let the movie theater experience die because he never liked it, only to then recommend people watch the Mulan remake instead and support streaming services as permanent substitutes. :o

My issue here was that Nolan was pushing to release the film even though it is not currently safe to do so. If the movie actually managed to draw crowds then Nolan and WB could have endangered a lot of people (yes, even with social distancing, going to an indoor movie theater is risky). So no, I don't want movie theaters to disappear forever. But I think releasing movies in theaters right now is irresponsible and also dumb from a business point of view.

I thought it had been made clear that he had nothing to do with the release dates/delays and that was more on WB?

Either way, it's made more money than people were expecting, so it doesn't necessarily mean people are forsaking theaters entirely.

I’m sick of the “it‘s not safe to release” nonsense. Mask up. 25-40% capacity. Blockbusters get 75% of the screens. Done.

If folks can spend an hour and a half in wal mart shopping they can spend two and half in a theater that was just cleaned and sanitized after the last viewing. Disney world is open. Come on.

Yeah, it's wildly irresponsible. And grocery shopping is not comparable to going to a movie theater, one is a necessity, the other is not. Finally, coronavirus is airborne, you can sanitize the seats and other surfaces all you want but you can't do anything about the recycled air. Add in people not wearing masks because they're munching down popcorn and it's a recipe for a disaster.

Agree to disagree. I have roughly 150 employees that encounter 300-700 people a day and not a single positive case in 6 months. Every year I have multiple employees that get the flu. I’m not saying Covid isn’t real. We should definitely be vigilant in washing our hands and immune compromised people should definitely be careful, but the numbers are grossly overblown, and you can discover that yourself on the CDC website. Not going to get into a back and forth. Moving on.

Yeah, apparently some execs wouldn't get their bonus if the movie hadn't been released.

I read a lot of Philip K Dick's works many years ago, seems to me that we're getting closer to Dick's dystopia future depicted in 'Minority Report (1956)' which was adapted into a Spielberg film in 2002.'.

Predictive policing algorithms are racist. They need to be dismantled.

Scientists are using MRI scans to reveal the physical makeup of our thoughts and feelings

Philip K Dick's works are still rich in film adaptations, so far we have:

Blade Runner (1982) & Blade Runner 2049 (2017) / 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (1968)'.
Total Recall (1990) & Total Recall (2012)/ 'We Can Remember It for You Wholesale (The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, April 1966)'.
Confessions d'un Barjo (1992) / 'Confessions of a Crap Artist (1975, originally written in 1959)'.
Screamers (1995) / 'Second Variety (Space Science Fiction magazine, May 1953)'.
Minority Report (2002) / 'The Minority Report (Fantastic Universe, 1956)'.
Impostor (2002) / 'Impostor (1953)'.
Paycheck (2003) / 'Paycheck (Imagination, June 1953, originally written in 1952)'.
A Scanner Darkly (2006) / 'A Scanner Darkly (1977)'.
Next (2007) / 'The Golden Man (If magazine, April 1954)'.
Radio Free Albemuth (2010) / 'Radio Free Albemuth (1976, published posthumously in 1985)'.
The Adjustment Bureau (2011) / 'Adjustment Team (Orbit Science Fiction, September–October 1954)'.

Out of This World (1962 anthology TV series, ITV franchise) / 'Impostor (1953)'.
The Man in the High Castle (2015 TV series, 40 episodes, Amazon) / 'The Man in the High Castle (1962)'.
Minority Report (2015 TV series sequel to 2002 film, 10 episodes, Fox) / 'The Minority Report (Fantastic Universe, 1956)'.
Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams (2017 sci-fi anthology TV series based on the works of Philip K. Dick, 10 standalone episodes, Channel 4 UK & Amazon).

Is the Witcher prequel (seemingly starring Mamoa) going to be live action?
