Lounge of Justice - Part 90

I want Harley Quinn to imagine a bombshell WWII period movie starring Gadot, Heard, Adams etc =P

How was Aquaman not well received in the US? It made 335m off a small opening meaning it had great WOM

Moviegoers actually prefer to stay home. 70% of them rather wait a couple months for Marvel/DC movies to reach streaming than pay for overpriced tickets

Also what's wrong with a GL series anyway? AT&T isn't pulling any punches. They're giving it a huge budget. Close to 200m according to rumors
Aquaman had lower opening and while it made a lot of money, it still is less than what Captain Marvel, Spider-Man FFH and Wonder Woman made at US box office. ( Interestingly, Aquaman made more money at International B.O. than those 3 movies.)

I would prefer a Green Lantern movie than a TV series, as I think the material is best suited for theatrical release, the other reason is that, I don't trust Berlanti, why can't they get someone else ?

I can see why they are trying a TV GL series though. First and only theatrical attempt didn't go well and these DC shows have gained a faithful audience, whether some like it or not.

Don't forget he does Titans and Doom Patrol as well which are both excellent, I think the criticisms of the CW shows should be more towards the network than him.

It's also a premise that I think benefits very well from long form storytelling. One of the (many) things I felt was wrong with the movie was there being too many interesting concepts and ideas to actually explore in an average blockbuster runtime.

Honestly I find Titans to be no better than the CW shows (and actually consider it worse in most areas that matter) in any capacity except for budget. But yeah, Doom Patrol and S1 of The Flash are what I’m hoping for in terms of quality from these shows.

Titans have less in costume sequences than even the CW shows. It's one of the peeves of these more serious type of superhero shows, like DD, JJ, etc. While DD is better in terms of this than the rest, sometimes these shows don't even feel like superhero shows, aside from their name drops or characters, because they spend 90% of the time in civilian clothes dealing with personal issues.

My thinking before was that even if they do a good GL film, there is just no way in hell they can make a satisfying Blackest Night story in film form, even if it's 3 hours long and spread through 2 installments. But with GL being a series now, I can totally see Blackest Night done right, or at least better than film, on this format. Imagine building up to this for 3-4 seasons, and just have an entire season dedicated to that arc. :hmr:

I gave up on The Flash early into Season 3. I've seen the occasional clip or trailer and I'm just gobsmacked at how far it's fallen.

The first Season may not have been perfect, but damn, Tom Cavanagh's Reverse Flash was phenomenal. Now he's a comedy sidekick in a show that seems to give no s****s about it's titular character either.

I've been enjoying their Crisis setup this season but other than that, I generally agree. I don't read Flash comics so I'm unfamiliar with his lore, but it seems like after the first two seasons they just kinda ran out of ideas/plots/villains that could be compelling in the long form. They got off to a good start with The Thinker, then ran off the rails with the actor switch and quickly devolved into stupidity.

That was so stupid. Especially since the actors they got were godawful.

Yeah, S3-5 were terrible. No reason to go back and watch those. But S6 is pretty good, so far. The Flash is now front and center, and he's back to being the main focus/hero.

Is there anything major I would need to know before I watch S6?

Barry and Iris's daughter from the future "died" (was erased from existence by a new timeline). So they're still kind of grieving. And they know a Crisis is coming and that the Flash is supposed to perish in it. That's about it.

Okay... I'll give it a shot soon and I see they're only 5 Eps in so far which is good. Thanks

I've been enjoying this season quite a bit so far. The last episode was definite filler, but aside from that it's been pretty good imo.

Watching Jason Momoa's Conan again for the first time in a while. I still say this was a very good movie and much like Dredd should've gotten a sequel.
