Lounge of Justice - Part 90

I have only one gripe against the Dune trailer

They didn’t use the Arabic terminology. It’s supposed to be « Jihad » and not « Crusade ». This will not please the main fanbase. It’s like Hollywood is afraid to say anything that might offend Islam, but they don’t mind using « Christian » terms. I really hope I’m wrong and that the Fremen will display their middle eastern heritage and use the correct terminology

Also, these two words have different meaning
-- Jihad - 'Struggling / Striving' while Crusade - in modern usage, 'to campaign vigorously for something'
.

I noticed in Dune you have,

Aquaman (Momoa), Thanos/Cable (Brolin), Drax (Bautista), Selvig (Stellan Skarsgård), Poe Dameron (Isaac), and Mary-Jane (Zendaya).

An impressive list of cast that also included Javier Bardem & Charlotte Rampling.

skies out here in the bay area california looking like mad max fury road.

my car was covered in ash this morning.
Yeah, saw that in the news. Looks like a scene from 2049 or something.

the reception for Dune trailer is pretty awesome
- trending on twitter in spite of few idiots calling for boycott because 'casted' and whitewashing while adding ScarJo fancam the irony of that is giving me brain damage
- reddit thread even when sorted by new is very ecstatic
- all of my girlfriends are like OH JASON IS IN THIS
- letterboxd recent reviews are all people talking about how cool the trailer is

I really hope it does well, this universe is so cool and I'd love for this to be a franchise

I was last in Berkeley / Frisco in August 1994...the weather was beautiful with clear blue sky, lovely warm sunshine and I met a lot of beautiful people. lol

I remember talking to my old friend with whom I stayed in '94 who live in Berkeley, he mentioned that in the area there are many eucalyptus trees. These were planted centuries ago and now are mature -- these trees trees contain highly flammable oil.

jfc.

that and also their falling branches are a safety hazard.
since they have a higher density and randomly fall.

an elderly man was killed by a falling branch of one of these trees near where i live, just around last year.

Dune

Eh, pandemic or no pandemic dont feel like it will make a profit. I have no doubt it will be good tho. Villeneuve shouldve filmed the sequel back to back just to make sure it got made.

Also, went for a run early this morning and it looked like a scene from BR2049, but siri didnt call me baby sweet with a cuban/spanish accent.

reading up on those eucalyptus trees. they are known to explode if there's enough fire too.

holy hell, it's like a death trap when they decided to plant those 100 years ago.

those city planners did not do enough research!

not sure if the city is looking to unplant them and destroy them. i should email my city or mayor to ask bout it.

Oh yeah, Australian wild fires in areas with those trees were reported.

Yeah --there were thousand of non-native plants being brought to California by the European from 18th century onward.

Blame Captain James Cook for bring the eucalyptus trees from Oz, Tasmania to be specific to the world. lol

Yeah... I also don't think this trailer sells the movie to the general audiences in any real way. As for filming both parts at the same time, I'm sure Villenevue would have wanted this but the studio probably didn't want to gamble that much money.
