i will get torched for saying this but I was looking forward to an Egyptian or a middle easterners getting cast in the role lol. Like a new Gadot etc. I like the dude and I watch Supernatural, he’s also in Invisible Man, but that “incarnation” talk didn’t workout for Scarlet Jo lol. Maybe they could make Hawkgirl someone from that part of the world.
That's not bad either. It depends on the version of Hawkman they are going with. Is it Katar Hol of Thanagar? Then race doesn't matter. Is it a modern incarnation (say, the 45th life of the original Egyptian life), then again, race doesn't necessarily matter unless part of the curse is that Carter tends to look the same during each reincarnation. He and Hawkwoman have convoluted origins.
I think the simplest origin is to do what they did in the JLU cartoon. Thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt, two Thanagarians, Katar and Shayera Hol, crashed on Earth. Due to some scheming, they were murdered and their Nth metal caused them to reincarnate again and again over the years until they can eliminate the origin of the "curse," either by killing the reincarnation of Hath-Set or, and I think this is more interesting, letting go of their attachment to each other or their attachment to revenge so that they can finally stop their many long years of blood-filled lives.
Anyway, so there's lots of ways to play the Hawks. To me, like Deadshot who had his race changed, as long as they still retain the essence of the character, that's the most important thing to me. Will Smith did that for Deadshot (assassin, semi suicidal, a heart in there somewhere, love for his daughter being the only thing that keeps him going). For Hawkman it's being a battle-hardened warrior, intense, aggressive in battle, often acts first and thinks second, very macho, loves Hawkwoman, and is also an Indiana Jones-esque explorer.
