Loved the sequel, didn't care for the original

Have any of you ever experienced a situation like this, where you're underwhelmed by a certain movie, but you love its sequel(s)? I've experienced this a couple of times.

Rambo - I loved the fourth movie. The pure cheesiness and over-the-top violence made it fun to watch. But I was unimpressed with "First Blood" and I thought the second and third Rambo films were just plain bad.

Evil Dead Trilogy - I liked the first "Evil Dead" fine, but its two sequels are so awesome that it almost makes the first one forgettable by comparison.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa - I didn't care much at all for the first one, but I thought the sequel was pretty funny at times.

The Bourne Trilogy - Now I thought these were all overrated, but I did enjoy the second and third ones quite a bit more than "The Bourne Identity".

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of right now.

 

[Punisher Rising]

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I enjoyed both Spider-Man 2 and 3 (yes, 3) much more than the original, a film I never liked or could get into. I love the Evil Dead Trilogy, but the original was indeed my least favorite of the trio, even though I still love it. I don't know how many people here know of the old Exterminator movies, but I found the first one kind of dull while the sequel was cheesy fun.

The Dark Knight was better than Batman Begins

Texas Chainsaw Massacure 2 was better than the orginal.

The Devils Rejects was better than House of 1000 Corpses.

Empire Strikes Back was better than A New Hope

Hostil 2 was better than the first.

Evil Dead 2 was better than the first.

Young Dirty Girls 5 was better than the first, but slight worse than 4 *wait...porn doesn't count*

Anyways...those were my opinions.

I don't know about couldn't stand them, but Devil's Rejects, Dark Knight, and Blade 2 are all vast improvements over their predecessors.

But it says didn't care for the original, I prefer some of the sequels better, but I still liked their predessessors.

I sure didn't care for House of 1000 Corpses, but Devil's Rejects was the cat's pyjamas...

I'm also hoping Transformers 2 at least partly masks the stink of part 1.

The Road Warrior - I really didn't like Mad Max at all, i thought it was badly acted and crudely made with no real sense of a post apocalyptic world, but I loved The Road Warrior.

I thought about that too. Road Warrior is definatly better than Mad Max. Mad Max was like a cheaply made idea, were as Road Warrior had that idea expanded upon and fleshed out.

Apparently I'm the only one that prefers House of 1000 Corpses to Devils Rejects and its a much better "remake" of Texas Chainsaw than Marcus Nispel's.

The Empire Strikes Back is much better than A New Hope (in my opinion).

I love BTTF but I don't think the second, for as good as it is, is better then the first. I will say this: BTTF 2 is one the greatest sequels ever made.
