Loved the sequel, didn't care for the original

why, why people consider Evil Dead 2 a sequel to the 1st one..? No one knows..

Facepalm, anyone ?
uhhhh because it is, ED2 just sums up the first film within the first 20 minutes, Army of Darkness does this too. I own a fan cut of all three films spliced together damn near seamlessly.

what's up with part 1? there's two people who said that they liked part 3 over 1 and I'm wondering why since part 3 is the most mangled by fanboys.

Don't get me wrong, I like the first movie{well, I actually hated it the first time I saw it}. I just like 3 a bit more, despite it's flaws.

The Bourne Trilogy - but I did enjoy the second and third ones quite a bit more than "The Bourne Identity".

Same here. Never cared much for the first one, I think it's quite bland in a way...

I like Goldfinger, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, but I don't really care for the rest of the Bond flicks.

Spider-Man was kinda meh. Spider-Man 2 was a lot better.
I didn't like The Exterminator almost at all, but Exterminator 2 kicked ass.

Nope. It's a sequel.

Often considered to be a remake of The Evil Dead (1981), however this is not accurate. The rights to show scenes from the original could not be obtained to re-cap what happened, so they recreated the beginning to explain how Ash got to the cabin, a headless Linda, etc.

Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness over Evil Dead.
Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 over Spider-Man.
Superman 2 over Superman.

I loved Desperado so much more than El Mariachi. I'm not gonna say El Mariachi was bad, I just personally didn't like it.

Terminator 2 > Terminator
The Bourne Supremacy > The Bourne Identity
The Dark Knight > Batman Begins
Hellboy II > Hellboy
The Godfather Pt. II > The Godfather :o
Back To The Future II > Back To The Future
X-Men 2: X-Men United > X-Men

there's probably a bunch more, but my brain is fried.

I know it's a ****ing remake! It isn't a sequel and its one of my favorite movies of all time. It was pretty much Raimi just having fun with it naming it that way.

As for sequels...Gremlins 2 is the only sequel I like and could care less for the original.

You don't like From Russia With Love? :wow:

:up:One of the greatest Bond film ever. Robert Shaw as Red Grant was one of the best Bond villains imo (if not the best).
Speaking of sequels that outdid the original the road warrior and TDK come to mind.

I liked Empire Strikes Back WAY MORE than A New Hope

Its been a while since I've seen them...but i thought that Evil Dead 2 was just a "remake" if you will of Evil Dead 1? (same story, just in the ED2, its only Ash and his chick in the cabin, as opposed to a group of them in ED1)...

While it's a remake, not a sequel, thought the new version of Dawn of the Dead was so much better than the original. Just couldn't get into the original version, but thought the remake was great.

I can only think of Terminator 2.

Loved the sequel, loved the original :
Toy Story 1 and 2.
Shrek 1 and 2.
The Godfather 1 and 2.
ANH and Empire.
T1 and T2.
Evil Dead 1 and 2.

Also I didn't care for the da vinci code and I hope I will love the sequel.

And finally, Loved Pirates 1 and The Matrix, didn't care at all for the sequels.

I liked TCM 2 over the first one. Dennis Hopper is a nutbar :woot:

I don't Love Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, but I find some enjoyment in it. I found no enjoyment in Fantastic Four though. Do the Star Wars Prequels count? Because I think Revenge of the Sith is good while Phantom Menace is mediocre and Attack of the Clones just stinks.

Oh and for Harry Potter, 3-5 beat 1 and 2

made a mistake. I should have written "What's up with part 3?"

Oh, how could I have forgotten "Revenge of the Sith"? It's miles better than "The Phantom Menace" and "Attack of the Clones".

Aliens> Alien

Sure, Alien had more of a suspense/horror atmosphere but I found the film itself rather boring.

Indeed.

Harry Potter 3, 4, 5, are way better than 1 and 2, I can't stand that candy ass tone. But the third is still the best.

Pirates 1, focesed more on story and clever humor rather on just Jack and slapstick. Jack was apart of the plot but he just seemed to fit more seamlessly in that film. The others they just went crazy with it. Jack was a jewel only once. Then as much as you love him still, it still didn't have that feeling you got the first time you see him. Maybe I'm kinda thankful we'll only see Ledger's Joker once. It's the same for me.
