Lucifer Lucifer General Discussion

It looks to be getting into some of the other stuff next episode. Still, very enjoyable to watch Tom Ellis.

yeah i didn't like this episode nearly as much as i have the other ones. the only thing that interested me was what Maze and Amenadiel (Sp?) have cooked up

oh yeah, and i hope the last scene means that we'll be getting into more supernatural

I think this week's plot was a little uninteresting and only distracted from the great chemistry developing between the leads. Also, it was great to see how much of a badass Maze is and there is an interesting subplot developing in regard to Amenadiel's actions.

That scene with the artist at the end was excellent, Tom really sold that switch from charm to menace.

My prediction : Decker is the obvious target and Lucifer will of course protect her, meanwhile Amenadiel will start ( already does ) feeling human emotions which will complicate things between him and Lucifer, Mace devotion will be tested even harder.

DC Comics News: Interview w/ Lucifer Show runner Joe Henderson

Joe-Henderson_interview-740x431.jpg

It is with great enthusiasm and pleasure that I can announce our latest exclusive interview. This time we venture over to the latest DC TV show to hit screens in Fox’s Lucifer, which is a story based off the DC Comics character. Now that we are five episodes into season 1, I had the opportunity and absolute pleasure of having a discussion with Executive Producer and Show runner, Joe Henderson. We had a pleasant conversation which covers a broad range of topics on both himself, the show, inspiration behind its birth, the characters, and much more. If you are considering watching the show, listen to our interview and you will gain a great understanding behind the concept and Mr Henderson’s vision.

That may have been my favorite episode of the season. Finally they're diving into some mythology. I can't wait for Lucifer to find out his brother has been talking to his therapist.

The show is employing too many convoluted stalls. Chloe's obstinate disbelief in the face of solid evidence is getting grating. Everytime she belittles and puts Lucifer down, implying that he's just a megalomanical psychotic, the joke's on her. Surely we aren't meant to think that the co-protagonist is an idiot.

i don't think she's an idiot, but i think we'd all probably react similarly to things like this. she's very cut and dry, all about the facts so i feel like she will realize it soon enough. i think it's very in character for her to do her homework on her own, like in ep 2 she did some surveillance on him, got close enough to check for a bulletproof vest, had dan look into the club etc.

i think this episode was far better than the last, and i'm looking forward to next week for sure.
i liked the scene in the car where Decker admitted she actually likes working with Lucifer but doesn't like feeling like he's lying to her and doesn't trust her. he's still the only person around who is willing to work with her so i think part of her doesn't want to let that go and be a lone cop again. i think as the season goes on, i have a feeling that she was right all along. i don't think that storyline is over yet.

and back to that scene in the car where they had the brief "heart to heart", i feel like that if it would've happened before the scene/episode where Chloe saw Lucifer nude and saw his scars, it would've had more impact. i really liked where that episode was taking things, and it showed that she trusted and respected his request by not digging about the scars. then last week's episode just felt out of place and this one brought it back. so i'll probably just mentally ignore the episode in between and i think it ties together better

No, I don't think we would. Lucifer has told her the truth every single episode of the show, she's seen his powers at work for every single episode of the show, she's got video footage of him displaying supernatural strength and his face morphing, she's seen his face morph in a glass, she's witnessed him teleport to pluck a bullet out of mid-air, she's seen him get shot without taking damage, she's seen him drive several people insane with a single look after which all they do is ramble about how he's Satan, and at no point does she even consider it enough to say "fine, let's assume you're the Devil, can you prove that to me?" That would be a fairly reasonable way to go about it.

No, all she does is go "hah hah, yeah right" and look for bulletproof vests. She's only invested in proving he's a fake, not in finding out the truth. I get how they can make this out to be deflection and fear, but it still makes her look like a moron.

First of all, that was a great episode. Bit's of it had me really laughing my ass off!

Second, about the entire Chloe being an idiot issue, I think if you look at the first few episodes, she did indeed progress quite fast on Lucifer's mystery. That hit a brick wall though when she actually shot him and he bled after claiming he was immortal and stuff.

Given that as a person it is probably a default tendency to look for more sane explanations before going to the more out-worldly ones, if that explanation is then proved wrong the brain probably tends to revert back to the sane explanations. Add to that Lucifer's own reducing power and it becomes even harder. I'm sure in time she'll start entertaining the supernatural prospects but for now I don't see a problem.

No she has a critical mind and is looking at all the possibilities. Hypnosis etc...

I didn't realize you could hypnotize a guy to crash fifteen feet through a window.

Having a critical mind, yes, that means looking at all the possibilities, which is exactly what Chloe does not do.

She was ready to believe until she shot him and it actually hurt him.
Yes, for one fleeting second. As I said earlier, a "Hail Mary" save from the writers in order to drag out the story - but that does not matter. Lucifer reacted to being shot with shock and astonishment, but Chloe didn't listen to him. She never listens to him. The video footage is still there. The previous events still happened and the events after still happened.

Chloe never asks "why". She's not willing to even entertain any notion not based on her narrow view of the world. Of course, this is all in service of the plot, but anyhow.

Bottom line, I'm an atheist because there is absolutely no proof for the existence of any supernatural forces, angels, gods, demons or Santa Claus. Now, if Santa Claus came racing down my chimney with his reindeer next Christmas... Would I believe in him? Yes! I believe what I see! I'm not an atheist because I "refuse" to believe in God, I'm an atheist because nothing "compels" me to believe in him.

As Lucifer even says, though, the world has a twisted vision of who he is. He isn't exactly what someone would expect of the Devil.

Well, I'm hoping it will go more into the "mystical" side of thing. Anything to get away from the tired police procedural format, really. Problem is that I think that they're intentionally staying in it. Oh, and Amenadiel is the one with Lucifer to get back his wings for a reason. That way Chloe won't have to find out he really is the "old nasty."

Don't get me wrong here, I kinda like this show. The actors are all okay and it's certainly shipping-worthy if nothing else. It's just not a very good show right now for me, and I think getting closer to the comic would make it one.

So, they're taking further steps back from letting Chloe realize anything.

This show better get renewed or she never will.

I do think you're reading a bit too much into Chloe's disbelief angle. Let it go and enjoy the show instead.

I think they kinda made the predictable choice with Amenadiel taking the wings but then changed the stakes altogether when Lucifer set them alight. So, that was pretty good from the writers.

Honestly though, what has it been, 7-8 episodes so far and I've probably not absolutely loved may be one episode. They are really hitting it out of the park!

I am not sure if its the makeup, lighting or something else. But, in a few scenes it always looks like Lauren German (Chloe) has a black eye in both of her eyes.

I really liked this episode. I was sad to see the priest go.

Watching the last ep at the moment, some lines are rather bold ... "padre pederast", I guess they didn't dare use the other word.
