Maybe we are not talking about the same character. Luke Cage in the marvel universe is not a killer.

That garbage MAX series is "out-of-continuity". So maybe that Cage was a killer...I don't remember. But the Cage that has been around since the 70's has no history of being a killer. He was not in prison for murder. And even if he was, he was framed. That's part of his origin...being in prison for a crime he didn't commit.

Actually, if LL Cool J brought the same intensity he had in that movie "Deep Cover", he would be a pretty good Luke Cage. But I'm in the Henry Simmons vote though.

That version of Luke was in the MAX Marvel universe like MAX Punisher. It doesn't seem like you really know what a gangster does. One of the things they do is KILL people. They might have never mentioned it in the comics but that's one of the things gangsters do.

If you were talking about me I didn't say a person had to kill to be a gangtser. But in order to become part of some gangs you have to kill somebody. I'm just saying that killing somebody will eventaully come about when being a gangster.

Not really, man. I was in a gang, so was my brother, so was many other friends of mine. None of us ever killed anyone. I know one guy who did, but he wasn't in a gang. This reminds me of logic from math class. Some gangbangers are killers, but that doesn't mean all gangbangers are killers. Being in a gang may be an attribute of killers, but being a killer isn't really an attribute of being in a gang.

Man, how I wish Ving Rhames was younger. Hell, even if he was cast now I'd have no problem since Luke Cage always came off as older anyway. They can do a whole Tookie Williams inspiration thing.

Thinking about his Hancock and I Robot characters, I can totally see it.

I don't see what's so bad about Tyrese either for that matter. I can see Luke Cage being just a muscular guy as opposed to a big pro wrestler type. 6'2 210 is good enough for me really. Maybe 220.

Going that route, they could always try to get Jamie Foxx, like producer Neal Moritz wanted. Jamie played Tookie really well in the TV movie Redemption.

But I still think Henry Simmons is the perfect fit. All he lacks is star power, but he's got the look and the chops.

I don't see what's so bad about Tyrese either for that matter.

That dude cannot hold down a film as a lead. He simply has no dramatic weight, IMHO. As a supporting character? Fine. But I wouldn't go see a Cage movie with him in the lead.

Will Smith's a good actor, but I can't see him playing an overly-muscular superhero. Just doesn't seem like his schtick.
