I'm exaggarating but the Tyrese as Cage thing is mind boggling. I don't see why people want this guy as him. I can't stand Tyrese so much that I can honestly say that I wouldn't see the movie in theaters if he's cast.

You and me both.

Thirded. No way in hell would I want to see Tyrese as Cage.

Wasn't there talk about Marvel tv series in the near future? Cage would be a character that could easily carry a series, imho. If it went that route, I think Omari Hardwick (Dark Blue, Miracle at St. Anna) would be a really good choice. In Dark Blue, I thought he exuded that streetwise attitude Cage has to have.

I can see it. He's not a bad choice. There really are not that many bad choices, heck I can see Wil Smith as Cage. But no way could I see Tyrese as him. I just can't and won't see that.

They cast a semi-unknown as the lead, they'll do what they always do and compensate by having the supporting cast all be A-list.

I dunno who I'd go with. Would have said Idris Elba but he is already in Thor. Which I guess doesn't automatically disqualify him. But the reports say it's a big name....which makes me think of Will Smith (But he doesn't really fit the role that well).

I was thinking Will Smith as well. He's the only actor that came to mind once that report hit...Never know though. I hope there's a follow up report eventually.

But back to casting choices - I think Omari Hardwick would be a decent choice. I've enjoyed his work in Dark Blue.

Still would love to see Terry Crews in the role. The guy is huge and has charisma for days.

If it has to be a big star, I'd go with Jamie Foxx over Will Smith. Because with Foxx I'm often able to see the character first whereas Smith usually tends to come across as Will Smith playing Will Smith.

Pretty sure this is one of the few guys I can picture saying "SWEET CHRISTMAS!" and having it come off completely awesome.

When being serious he can be really intimidating and he has great timing. The man knows his craft. Any actor will tell you pulling off comedy is the hardest part of the job. He tones it down and you'll get a great Luke Cage.

The thing is, Luke Cage is supposed to be in his 20's. These dudes are kinda old.

In his 20s? How long was this guy in prison?

What is he, like 30-something?

I like him but **** no. Hell, he'd probably make a better Black Panther in an origin movie.

That's what I always thought. Guy was put away for murder and I think possession. He was in prison a good while before breaking out. I always got the impression this was an older, more experienced dude than most Marvel heroes. Daredevil's another one who I feel is around his mid-30s or so. Iron Fist himself just turned 33.

Good lord, Luke Cage does not have to be a twentysomething. Crews gives us the opportunity to have a hero actually have a heroic physique while being able to act and be funny. This role is perfect for him.

Love the suggestion of Crews for Luke Cage. Crews is in his early 40s but could easily pass for mid-late 30's which is fine for Cage. You could certainly get two movies out of him, Luke Cage and Heroes for Hire, and maybe a third with an appearance in Avengers 2 or something.

After watching the Expendables, Terry Crews it is for an immediate Luke Cage movie. He's buff and doesn't look short like Jai White. The movie (either solo or with Iron Fist) is going to be one shot anyway so age is a small factor. Iron Fist might be younger as they can have as many 20-30 something caucasians (including Evans), but Crews as Cage is good enough.

I like Terry Crews too, he is big and has been in enough things to show he can act without becoming too famous. But the only problem might be, if it is a problem at all, isn't he 48?
I know that Robert Downy Jr. is older than most comic heroes cast in movies but would his age be an issue?

He'll be 48 if the movie is done 6 years from now.
