I just wrapped up watching Luke Cage season 2. I watched season 1 some time after it originally released. They killed off their best villain. I never liked Mariah as a villain. Season 1 I felt was a bit of a drag in some episodes and could have been shorter.
I don't remember how season 1 actually ended though. After finishing Daredevil: Born Again, I was bored and wanted to revisit Luke Cage season 2. I had actually stopped watching somewhere in the beginning because I didn't like the way Luke treated Claire after he lost his temper. It made me dislike him. That was 6 years ago. I finally returned to watching it.
I must say I find Mariah and Shades equally annoying. Their presence. They get way too much screentime, and I wonder if these seasons in total had more screen time with those two than Luke himself.
Bushmaster seemed more interesting. I wish they had gotten rid of Mariah and Shades a long time ago.
So the ending to season 2, well, it was canceled but hoping Luke Cage will somehow be back. This season, they really just corrupted Cage. I don't like the direction they took toward him taking over the club. He has gone to the point of becoming Mariah literally. Just didn't like it. I'd feel bad for Claire and worried too.
In general, I haven't enjoyed this series so much. I'm not going to bother watching Iron fist season 2. Danny is not a good character. I stopped watching Jessica Jones season 2 after maybe episode 4. After seeing Trinity snorting coke, I felt like...okay, I'm done. Already felt so miserable.
Sometimes these shows take itself too seriously. I liked Luke Cage from the comics. I liked the simplicity of just a strong man in Harlem, New York, street fighter, that was it. The drama in the Netflix show though...ugh, had enough of it. Kind of wish the show had more joy.
