Luke Cage is my new hero! (I don't know how to cover spoilers, so enter with warning)

months ago, i use to get buttloads of comics. well one day, i read one book and said "f*** this!" and put them down. i read the books the day i get it, but that one month, i spread it throughout the week.

Damn, you're ultra pro-reg huh? :p

Pretty much. If they had to register but not have to work for the government I'd be even more gung ho about registration.

I will actually say that this issue of New Avengers kicked complete ass. And this is from a person who hates New Avengers.

Youve bought three arcs worth of comics and havent read it? I cant do that, I read my comics the day I get them.
Then clearly I am better than you. I've got an even longer backlog of Spider-Girl comics, too. I just keep forgetting about them week after week.

Definitely a good issue of New Avengers, and a good issue for the character of Luke Cage. It was a great issue to bow out on as I'll be dropping New Avengers after this...

I was expecting better pencils from Yu in this issue, but it seemed like he was rushed because I had trouble making out some of the panels in this, and some of his Luke Cage drawings were rather "odd" looking in some panels. Maybe it was just me, though?

But regardless, a great issue.

He called Tony "baby", I find that hilarious.

That's cool. I just assumed that the reason you dislike Luke more than before is because he's anti-reg and with the help of Cap and crew; whooped a ton of SHIELD booty. :D

I think Black Panther and Dr. Doom are going to fight in the next issue of Blank Panter..but thats what the cover shows. but u know how covers are

wasn't there a comic in the 80's or 90's where Atlantis, Latveria, and Genosha all went to war and the BP/Wakanda had to intervene and stop it? Not sure if it was during the Atlantis attacks series or not.

I wasn't a fan of the artwork too much, but like many of you I too became fond of Luke Cage even more from this issue. I love how he stuck to his believes and it was cool when shield arrived right at midnight. I'm also loving the addition of DD to the secret avengers; been wanting DD to be on the avengers for awhile.

Maybe, maybe not. Ennis probably has the clout to get anything greenlit, but he's content to stick with the Punisher and other stuff that's very clearly sequestered from the mainstream Marvel stuff.

Yeah but Ennis hates superheroes. Vaughn doesn't (to my knowledge).

Yes, he can and will. Consider this, I hate to use this but as Luthor said in Superman returns, whoever controls the technology, holds the power. Wakanda is the most technologically advanced country in the world, SHIELD gets most of its weapons and materials from them.

What about Latveria? I mean, Doom has a time machine in his arsenal.

Also; Wakanda went to war with Namor and Atlantis back in Defenders #84-#86, and while they didnt lose, they certainly didnt win either, and actually seemed to be on the defensive end of things....

Here my question, as a black man i am wondering what does luke Cage know about slavery? I thought Cage was useing more cliche token black guy lines, thiers not blackman alive [espically not me] that knows anything of slavery. Comparing the two events was obviously written buy a white man who has only a vague idea of the black culture. When Luke cage has no rights, picks cotten all day, has to call another man his master, sleeps in barns, eats old food,is not be allowed to learn anything, forced to do another man [or woman] wishes, beaten for haveing opinions, shot for trying to run away, raped buy his master, dies of malnutrition, treated like nothing, and when all that happens in civil war Then Luke Cage can compare it to slavery.

whoa, Eros, you are taking the metaphor a little too literally there. And he is being compelled to do someone else's bidding should he have registered, and they are trying to kill him (or at least arrest him) for having a different opinion.

and for the record, not all slaves picked cotton.

Oh, by the way, it was guessed at the start of this thread that the YA had been captured: not true. They're in LA having a fun little romp with the Runaways... interpret "Fun" and "Romp" and "little" as you see fit.

Also for the record; Cage HAS, in fact, been "shot for trying to run away", back when he escaped from Sea Gate pennitentiry...

i may be wrong, but it seemed to me that Runaways/YA took place before civil war 3.

Whoa and "chill" "black man".

All cage said on slavery was a response to starks comment about breaking the law.

The REST of the stuff he alluded to, ( the being dragged out of your house in the 50's for example,...), including his being accused yet again of wrong doing just by being where they can find him?

All relatable.

Scary how you are saying that unless you experience something personally,.. you can't speak on it,.. even when it still has an impact on your way of life.

Neither here nor there,.. if your are black (I'm saying it) you were raised poorly to believe that someone can't say something would be wrong and give an example that alludes to how THEY SEE THE SITUATION.

I READ THE COMIC AND CAME BACK ON TO AGREE WITH THE MAJORITY THAT HE WAS WRITTEN CORRECTLY ONLY TO READ YOUR "He needs to pick cotton first before he says the word slavery" speech.

TSK.

and all of 'em are comic book characters :p

more black friends than i have... sad really...:(

Always liked Luke Cage, enjoyed him being on the New Avengers even though he's technically considered a c-lister, I think he added alot. There was one issue where he took the avengers to do "impact police work" or something like it in some of the really bad neighborhoods. It was really awesome seeing them try to do some good in other ways than just pounding the snot out of irredeamable bad guys.

I'm laughing on the outside,.. Crying on the inside,... New Avengers # 22 is Sold out in a 60 mile RAdius of where I live in Southern California,.. Even the folk who hate it have been buying it,... Just like the silent bunch buying all the Storm related stuff off the shelf.
