I dunno it honestly doesn't take away any part of the experience for me.![]()
Yeah it depends on the person. For me, I know how Luke shows up but i wanna reserve seeing leaked footage...I wanna cry he is revealed.
So was it just a close up reveal of his face? How did he look?
Did he LOOK like an aged Luke? Or an aged Mark Hamil dressed as Luke? Do you get why I'm trying to say? There was an essence to Luke's demeanor that Hamil brought to Star Wars, a certain essence I haven't seen in anything else he's been in. Does it FEEL like we are seeing an old Luke?
Dang I teared up listening to the force theme. Is it true the force theme plays in that last scene?
No, it was a full scene, we see his body. Long grey hair and grey beard. He looks slim and he looks... he's just perfect. The long hair got me.
Agreed. I wonder what happens next!?
Theme is classic Force Theme from Episode IV starting slowing and building up.
Rey, Chewbacca and R2-D2 travel to Luke's hideout, the first ever Jedi Temple or what is left of it.
Rey goes up the 'Jedi Steps' to find a hooded figure looking out over the vast oceans of the planet from the mountain edge. The figure, sensing her presence, turns and pulls down his hood to reveal his face, Luke Skywalker, aged with longer hair and beard. Rey pushes back her staff, reaches down and stretches out the Skywalker Lightsaber to the figure in an almost teary eyed emotional way as a cautious Luke, gazes upon her.
Credits.
He slips and falls off the cliff.
As he's falling, we hear Darth Vader's ''Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo''.

same here. I did not expect that hair
The great thing about the reveal is that Luke isn't just showing his face and all but nods to Rey (and, consequently, to the audience) for TEH AWESUM factor. No, he's shocked, haunted, awed, even humbled. He reacts VERY specifically.
Exactly, well said. It was actually shocking to me--
This whole time, I was expecting him standing with a small but warm smile toward Rey. She hands him the 'saber, he takes it and nods to her... They look out to crashing waves in the distance and we iris out.
What we actually got... The sheer looks of intensity-- without being overacted-- were really... He may have only had roughly thirty seconds of screen time, but dammit, he conveyed so much in those thirty seconds. The way his expression subtly changes when she holds out his old/his father's old Lightsaber... My god. Epic, truly.
I was wondering
Is Luke going to be a reluctant mentor after his nephew went to the darkside and killed all his other students or if he will embrace Rey without hesitation. What happened to Luke may of crushed his spirit a little. We saw how Leia and Han processed it but it must of been a emotional blow to Luke as well.
