The Force Awakens Luke Skywalker - Mark Hamill

So everyone be prepared for the:

Episode VIII is too dependent on ESB references cause Luke is training Rey like Yoda trained Luke. Rey may have to face off Kylo like Luke had to face Vader to become a Jedi.

;)

Only difference is that Rey already kicked Kylo Ren's ass. And she didn't have any training then. Imagine what she's capable of when Luke trains her.

What if it's Snoke she has to defeat to return balance to the Force?

Yeah but

remember he had been shot by Chewie and had one or two lightsaber scrapes from Finn by that point. :cwink:

Either way. I predict the same complaints about this film being "too ANH". :whatever:

Even so, she was a novice and even with his injuries Ren should have been able to kill her easily. I mean look at Anakin. It's been stated that the injuries that turned him into Darth Vader robbed much of his skill and power as a Jedi. Yet despite that he was still able to own Luke (who by that point had much more training in the Force than Rey) hard in The Empire Strikes Back.

Rey on the other hand, was only recently 'awakened' to the Force and managed to kick the ass of a trained Sith like Ren. It perfectly demonstrated how powerful she is and it's a frightening thought to see how further she can go with Luke training her for real.

Kylo is not a Sith as far as I'm concerned, nor is he mentioned to be one in the film.

It still doesn't change the fact that he was injured. He's also quite an unstable person. His anger was always getting the best of him.

Yeah but is it really a negative? I know it is a justified critique in certain plot elements. [blackout]Kylo Ren and his entire look, Starkiller Base being like the Death Star, Rey's whole story being too similar to Luke's, etc.[/blackout]

depends on the person, i suppose they wanted to recapture the magic of the orgiginal film. I assume the other movies will go thier own direction.

He looked great.

I half expected him to take the Lightsaber from Rey with the Force and ignite it to end the film as a nod to him first igniting it in ANH, but with the pain etched in his face I think Rey is going to have to spend time in EpVIII convincing him to train her.

Oh that would have been masterful!!

Haha, same here. I expected him to look exactly the way he did at the GotG premiere in that regard. I love the look we got. So perfect.

Exactly, well said. It was actually shocking to me--

This whole time, I was expecting him standing with a small but warm smile toward Rey. She hands him the 'saber, he takes it and nods to her... They look out to crashing waves in the distance and we iris out.

What we actually got... The sheer looks of intensity-- without being overacted-- were really... He may have only had roughly thirty seconds of screen time, but dammit, he conveyed so much in those thirty seconds. The way his expression subtly changes when she holds out his old/his father's old Lightsaber... My god. Epic, truly.

One would think he would've foreseen it.

As he's falling, we hear Darth Vader's ''Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo''.

:hehe:

I still remember watching ROTJ on bluray for the first time and that was one of the most awkward moments of movie-watching I ever had. I was in my theater room in complete darkness watching the Emperor fry Luke to a crisp and suddenly I hear "No". The hair stood up on the back of my neck and I turned around freaked out because I thought someone was in the room with me lol. Then I hear "Nooooooooooooo" and to my surprise (and horror) I realize it's Vader. I sat there in disbelief that Lucas once again did something so stupid. It took me completely out of the movie and ruined the moment.

It's like Lucas thinks we're all five-year-olds who won't understand the scene without him writing notes over the screen in crayon explaining what's happening.

He has no judgment at all.

So is it true that the force theme plays in that last scene? Gosh just thinking about that piece makes me choke up

I want a series of CANON books that chronicles what happened to Luke, Kylo, Han, Leia, the Resistence, and he First Order.

I felt he had the best scene in the film.

I really hope that, for Episode 8, we get to see Luke portrayed as a VERY Powerful Jedi.

I've had several friends who have done nothing but made fun of Luke as a Jedi, simply because his fighting style with a lightsaber wasn't as fast and intense (from their perspective) as the likes of Obi-Wan and Darth Maul from the Prequel Trilogy.

Plus, they always state that Vader pretty much let Luke win in their lightsaber fight as he would never really aim to kill his son, thus making Luke appear more weaker in their eyes.

I'm sure you have friends who loved Hayden's acting, but who am I to judge?
