honestly i think if it was Young anakin and Luke to duel.
anakin would rape luke.
but i kno it cant happen

Anakin began training at age 9 in phantom menace where as Luke was 19 in new hope when he began training with obi wan and didn't complete his training until meeting yoda. so of course anakin would win. But if they both began at the same age I don't think Anakin would win easily. Luke had far better control of his emotions than his father did.

The prequel trilogy was honestly one of the worst written trilogies in film history. Only reason I could honestly make it through it was Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor.

Ewan McGregor was the most consistent actor in the prequels. Without Dooku, Mace and Maul I don't think I could of sat through those films. Jar Jar has to be one of the least likeable charcters in cinema history.

"Annie" was lame. I can't believe 7 people voted for him. :down

The Anakin character in writing is just much more interesting than the goody-toe-shoes Luke character. I wasn't too thrilled with Haydens portray of Annie either, i actually think he was a miscast but this is Darth Vader for crying out loud....the name alone is the symbol of badass-ness!

Which one was the best? Luke, who was the chosen one and ended up bringing balance to the force and the there's Anakin who was thought to be the chosen one, but turned to the dark side. Which one was your favorite lead in the entire Star Wars series?

I just watched the marathon yesterday, and for me I'd have to go with Anakin. Just to see him grow up and to see how he turned into Darth Vader, it fit perfectly. It was so cool, and a great performance by Hayden Christensen.

Who do you guys think was the best out of the two?

i always figured anakin was the chosen one... he did kill the emperor and bring balance to the force, it just took him a really, really long time.

True, However before The Icon, Before The symbol , Before The Legend, Their was a whiny ass boy named Anakin Skywalker . Who was far from badass, more like pain in the bloody ass :cmad:

At least once Luke (as you call it "The goody-goody-toe-Shoes") wasn't whiny by the second movie , by the third movie luke grew up into a powerful badass Jedi Knight .

I feel your pain brutha, and i concure!:yay:

Which brings me to another question:

Who was older when they became a Jedi knight, Anakin or Luke?

Episode I - Qui-Gon Jinn easily the main character.

Episode II - It is split between Obi-Won and Anakin. No real main in the movie.

Episode III - Anakin is the main.

That is at least how I see it.

episode 2 is strange because there was 2 plot strands- anakin/amidala and obi off doing his own thing. I'd say amidala was the main character in episode 2- the whole plot revolved around her which is why obi goes off then the other strand is her and anakin falling for each other.

i'd say your other 2 were right though- obi wan was the constant which is good because he spans the whole trilogy and becomes vital but still in the wings.

As for the thread- ANAKIN! bad-ass, wonderful character arc, not the 2 dimensional hero character luke was. I think that was why people had problems with the prequels, the characters were shades of grey (biggest example jar jar the most innocent character is exploited and ends up having the defining moment in the creation of the evil empire) as opposed to the black and white prequel characters(not including lando)

The Son - Luke Skywalker (he was in is early 20), In The EU, Luke light years a head of his father (and become's A very wise, powerful Jedi Master).

Where Anakin became a jedi while still a teenager .

In another words he was the Whiny Clark Kent (Seasons 1- 5) version from "Smallville" .

I tell ya Golgo In episode II , I wanted to kill The Whiny ass Anakin young padawan learner . :cmad:

Can someone tell me the point of making Anakin younger than the woman he'd later impregnate. this always baffled the balls off of me. One minute he's a kid, next minute he's some stiff backstreet boy.

Plus, every tragedy has a fool, and that's JJB's role.

I like Luke better-he's quite possibly my favorite hero of all time-but seeing how Anakin is met with similar situations as Luke in the prequels and consistently makes bad decisions just makes Luke's decency all the more admirable to me.

Don't look for logic. :csad:

That explains why he was so whiney.:o

Mace?? I thought Sam Jackson did a TERRIBLE job in the PT. His acting was terribly forced and he wasn't at all convincing with a lightsaber. I know a lot of it is Lucas's fault, but like McDiarmid and McGregor, he could have compensated a bit.

I think the problem is we're used to seeing Jackson being cool, delivering smooth and powerful lines with his usual confident charm. But in this, he was forced to deliver awkward, laughable dialogue and was supposed to be reserved and held back. It just isn't something Jackson is experienced or even supposed to be doing, IMO.

And no one thought McDiarmid did a pretty good job in the PT? Despite usual bad Lucas dialogue, he shone through for me.

Because they wanted him to be taken from his mother at an early enough age that wasn't developing independance for her yet, and making Padme older allowed him to transfer that emotional dependance from Shimi to Padme after her death.

True, so how does that explain even as a young adult he's still a whiny ass little prick (Episode III), Where his Son as a young adult is a badass (on a mission) focused warrior ? (Episode IV)

"But I was going down to toshi station to pick up some power converters!!"

Don't let your own prefernces delude you. Luke was a whiney teenager in IV just like Anakin was in II.

I thought it was he just wanted to get laid by an angel lol (Remember The TP crap)

Anakin to Padme : Are you an Angel ?

Taken? it was all his choice. It would have been nice of Padme to help Anakin's mother after the squirt saved her planet though.

Luke was not whiny at all in episode VI (RETURN OF THE JEDI), Where Anakin in epsiode III (REVENGE OF THE SITH) was still a whiny pain in the ass prick .

Lucas dialogue was one of the biggest problems for me with the prequels. His dialogue was like something from a 50s B movie. They got away with that cheesey stuff in the 70s/80s but its so dated now
