Only in one movie [Episode IV - A NEW HOPE] and he was only a little whiny for a bit on Tatooine in the very Beginning (with his Uncle Owen) .

Someone on the home theater forums suggested the title 'Return of the Jedi' actually referred to Anakin's return. While it's a nice outside-the-box thought, its wrong in so many ways, and no amount of debate could change his mind. He happened to be a moderator (not that that can explain his stubborness t.

The title means the return of the Jedi in general, just like ROTS means the revenge of all Sith in general, they mirror each other quite nicely.

Or is Anakin Skywalker, the one who caused the downfall of the Jedi. He was right under the Jedi and they didn't have a clue. Darth Vader was being trained by Obi Wan and not even Obi could see the fate he would decide, he was a Phantom Menace and no one knew it.

As said, George Lucas has never stated who The Phantom Menace was because the title has several meanings.
