Making the perfect Spidey suit

So this is a little off topic but not much. all of us are hear to make the perfect spidey movie suit and now many years later we are all most at the point to where between all of the talent and ideas that have been spit balled and shared and put in to motion on this board we have finally done just that and I know things can always be improved but until 1 of us truly gets their hands on a complete movie costume or Chris himself or any other person involve in the costume making process for the 3 films fills in some of the gaps we have all done an impressive job from merely watching a DVD and reading a few behind the scenes books. So what I guess I am getting at is if there is not a thread all ready dedicated 2 people showing off other superhero costumes or creating original characters is any 1 interested in doing so. I know on my end I love making every superhero especially batman and I think that a thread just 4 making any and all superhero costumes would be kick ass. Brad I know every now and than u post non Spiderman costumes on here as do I even though some are still related 2 his comic I think it would be a cool thread 4 u to show some of your other work besides your web page personally I like looking at all of your other projects. Ok so I am rambling now so if any 1 is interested in starting a thread dedicated 2 superhero costume making in general please let me know

After 4 years I've finally decided to put myself to a full urethane suit. In order to get it as accurate as possible I thought I'd add the extra bit of fabric between the fingers. Here's my second attempt..... first time I tried 4 years ago it took me hours and didnt really work.. this one only took about 20mins. I guess my sewing skills have improved...lol.

I just used and old print and grabbed some white lycra. :)

Now to try it on my suit. ;)

That's very slick. It must have been a terrible pain in the butt, but it looks incredibly professional. I like the test glove. It looks kinda Spidey-Frankenstein like with all the different types of pattern. :)

Hey JesterFX, I like your idea. I imagine that most of us here like costumes period, regardless of which characters they represent. And it IS a big pain to have to visit each and every forum in "The Hype" to see what people are up to. I say "yes". What about the rest of you all? Any ideas or oppinions?

ok so here are the concept tabs for the new fraims and lenses i know that the metal pin needs 2 be more in the middle than it is but just for now it shows the idea i dont want to make the proper placement till i have the face shell all made but on the left is my lenses and on the right is pix of the film used 1s

I use a serger.

Im doing a workshop clean-up and have a bunch of old prints going cheap if anyone is interested. It's amazing how much stuff you can collect over the years when developing a suit. Checkout my website and look on the seconds page.

I spent most of the weekend going through every page on this thread that’s right all 785 pages and through all of my looking I have not once seen a post regarding the web that Spiderman shoots from his wrist and the web that he makes his giant webs out of that him and MJ are always resting in. so I did some digging and found some real good screen shots and I made a 5ft long prototype larger web strand that he swings from. I was wondering if b4 I waste the materials to mold it if any 1 was interested in it. I have seen so many cool pix of all of us in our costumes acting like we are trying 2 swinging or shoot webbing and I think that this could be a cool thing to have. If so please PM me. I also plan on making the cone shaped ending of the web that they always show attaching to the wall. If I do make them I plan on casting them out of a flexible clear resin.

You know that is a very good question and concept you came up with because I always wanted to know what type of webbing material did they use in the movie or how it looked like in real life this 4th picture seems to be more like the webbing in the movie of Spiderman 2 as you could see here:

It looks like it some type long strechy gluey plastic :whatever:
I wonder where you could buy it at or if someone here on this board makes it or sells it?

i did lots of reserch in2 the web and all of the movies were dif spiderman 1 they were very thin 2 and 3 were very close 3 was just a tad bit thinner but the pix i posted were him on the roof in spidey 1 and the web from spidey 2 if you look close at the web you can see a rope in it so the stunt man couls really swing from it the pic u posted from the train shot has a bunch of threads in his hand. when he makes a large web it is like a 1/8 thicl web with a singel smaller 1 wraped around it there is no knoting just as much went in 2 the web as they put in 2 the costume i also toyed with the idea of making a stone mold and making them out of dragon skin silicone it is a clear silicone taht will stretch up to 10 times it size

I know that you can often find supposed "screen used" pieces of web on eBay (usually framed). I've seen some pretty good close ups of the webbing that way.

What are you after, Nameless? I'll buy it first and sell it to you for DOUBLE!!!!! bwaaaa-ha-ha-haaaaa! ;)

Thanks Brad. Not ONLY are you ruggedly handsome in a man-pretty sort of way, but you smell WONDERFUL!!!!!

I like that idea, or atleast an area where you can post links to different "in progress threads"

I know it's not spider-man, but this is a Michelangelo head I have been working on.

what are they made out of is it just rope or is it a set of web from the film

what do you mean "swing"? are you tying them to something and actually supporting your weight with it?

i once made some webs a number of years ago. my technique was just to take a lot of strand of fishing line. i knotted them together tons of times, and it looked ok, but was a pain in the butt to do. i never tried to use them for anything. let me know if this project goes somewhere as i think i'd be interested.
