What role will Johnny Depp play? :o

Burton is making me angry. this is the guy who gave me Big Fish and Edward Scissorhands. give me something new.

Sooner or later hes gonna get around to making Snow White as well:dry:

maleficent, of course

Hahaha! I hope he doesn't cast HBC as Maleficent.

Burton is one of my favorite directors and I have no problem with him collaborating with Depp a lot, I just hope he isn't at his downward spiral already.

By that I mean, a number of directors when they get up in age(same with actors too)tend to start putting out subpar, rushed or just uninspired films at times. This isn't the case with all directors or actors but it tends to happen, same with musicians/bands as well.

Oh, but you KNOW it is going to happen.

Hahaha, yeah...it will.

Like I said about Depp and Burton. I don't mind collaborations but you shouldn't do that many films back to back with them. Space them out for god's sake.

If neither Depp or HBC are in this, that will look good for Burton.

Honestly this just seems like Wicked but with Sleeping Beauty/Instead of Wizard of Oz.

I would like him to tackle Aladin...of course with a dark take on it too!

If this is animated, I'd be interested. If not, I'll wait and see.

My fave princess tale. I'm intrigued to how Burton would do it, and I would hope it's not identical to Wicked,

I'm intrigued as well but it'd be awesome if he got some new blood in this.

And maybe the thread title should be changed?

Nah, he'd cast Depp over HBC. Depp has stated he would like to play a woman at some point, and those rumors of Maleficent being a drag queen could be silenced finally.

Seems to me that Burton is tackling too many old fantasy tales all at once, instead of having his unique Burton stories inbetween. But I think Burton will have his own signatures and interpretations for this classic tale, and it will probably be gothic and dark like his other movies.

whats there to be intrigued about? its gonna look the same as everything else he's done. the dude hasnt done anything new or developed as a director/storyteller in who knows how long.

Ugh.. DO DARK SHADOWS FIRST, you slackers!!!

The two risks he did outside of his comfort zone didn't do big box office (Planet of the Apes & Big Fish), so he retreated to safe.

well if he's going to pander to box office and not challenge himself as a director then i have no reason to see or respect his films.

ah forget her, i wanna see a movie about Jafar's point of view in Aladdin. Now that would be an awesome movie.

i agree with Motown.

Burton was the most unpredictable and unique filmmakers out there. But he's not challenging himself like he used to. That's why I feel like his quirkiness is wearing thin, especially compared to the likes of other 'weird' directors like David Cronenberg and Terry Gilliam.

Johnny Depp IS........

Dude just needs to find something else to do besides turning these kids things all gothic and such.

I knew it was a matter of time that they were going to make all the 2D animated films into live action. The technology sure has evolved enough to make it happen now. Back in the late 30's to the late 90's there was only one medium that freed up filmmakers to make anything possible, that was Disney's animated films. Like in Pinocchio, he could only been achieved fully in a 2D animated film, but ow with CG anything is possible if done right.
