Man, "Game of the Year" is going to be a REAL hard one...

Assassins Creed will take the outright title. With its unique and branching controls, amazing visuals and a storyline with twists that rivals Bioshock, yea Ubi is taking the gold this yr.

(and im basing this off early reviews, but come wed ill be basing it off of personal experience.....and im stoked as all hell:up:)

When did I EVER say ANYTHING about whether or not Ratchet & Clank is a great game? In fact, look at the last two pages - I've been trying to explain to you dimwitted ******s that my opinion of Ratchet & Clank is pretty much irrelevant. The question here is whether or not it is GOTY material. Try dragging your cranium out of your anal cavity so that you can actually READ people's posts instead of writing half-assed "comebacks" that make you look pitiful.

This is your reaction to Havok saying that R&C has been well recieved.

Are you f**king kidding me?

He is not even saying its a GOTY candidate, but a good game. Looks like someone needs to read peoples posts rather than attempt to look like a pitiful fanboy.

I said it before and I'm saying it again, my guess is that the major GOTY of this year is going to come down to Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, Super Mario Galaxy, and Mass Effect. I really don't think that Halo 3, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, and Assassin's Creed are going to top these games.

Same here. I do still say that Bioshock wins it.

IA. Orange Box isnt a game, Its a collection of 5 games. 2 of which are old, 1 is an expansion of the older game and that leaves Team Fortress 2 and Portal, neither of which is on GotY level
Portal's definitely GotY-worthy as far as I'm concerned. Very few games deliver that kind of innovation anymore.

LOL, epic "phail" at reading comprehension yet again. That post of mine was not a reaction to Havok, it was to Electro UK in response to his shortlisting of Ratchet & Clank among this year's possible GOTY contenders in the very first post. Don't say that he meant that Ratchet & Clank was only a "great" game and WASN'T GOTY material, because if he did he wouldn't have listed it amongst those other games in a thread ASKING which one of those titles could be Game of the Year.

Get it, you dumbass illiterate peasant?

If you're really saying your opinion on RaC is irrelevant than how can you have an opinion about it in any context, except for the graphics, which you can easily experience online. There is no possible question you could answer about a game you've never played. And you can't call people out on reading posts because just earlier you said RaC wasn't worth your time, but now you're saying it's great. Are great games not worth your time, or do you just not like platformers? I think that's the real reason no one mentioned it. Every other game goes for photorealistic graphics and explicit violence, so naturally a game with cartoon violence and Pixar graphics(which are still beautiful in their own right) would get overlooked. Since the question is what games are GotY material, thats mean there can be different answers. But the last two years have shown that alot of games that strive for realistic graphics and/or explicit violence end up taking the crown. Last year it was Gears of War and Oblivion taking most of the awards, and the year before that it was all about God of War and Resident Evil 4. Did I ever diss your opinion on what you thought would be GotY? Let me answer that for you, no. Hell, AC isn't even out yet, and people are already projecting it to win. If it is great then it can ride the wave of hype, and Jade's insane popularity. And it's not so much the innovation, it's that it's the first game of the series, not like RaC5, CoD4, or Halo3. Bioshock could also win alot because it's another new game, even though it's almost another game in the System Shock series.

Wow, so I quote the wrong person, and you jump on that. Hm.

Do you think that the MP3 is a GOTY candidate? Despite being a great game, no one will remember it. But people have said that its a GOTY candidate in this very thread. Why is it so wrong for people to say that R&C is a great game???? You have serious problems, dude, if you cant realize that people have different views upon games.

No, I jump at you for being unable to comprehend what that post of mine meant, even AFTER I clarified my stance repeatedly. Do try to keep up, sweetie.

No it's not a GOTY candidate because there are many far better, more deserving games released this year. Just because one thing is "better" does not automatically make the other "crap". Maybe that's how it is in your ******ed dictionary but it's not the way how people talk.

Why is it so wrong for people to say that R&C is a great game????

No it's NOT and that's what I've been trying to CRAM into your thick skulls! Here:

I NEVER SAID RATCHET & CLANK IS NOT A GREAT GAME. I JUST SAID IT WASN'T GOTY MATERIAL!

You have serious problems, dude, if you cant realize that people have different views upon games.

And you can't realize that you CAN'T F**KIN' READ!

And you also dismissed it by saying it wasn't worth your time. What reason do you have for not even giving this game a chance?

Not into colorful platformers. Just not my kinda games.

They can't appeal to the darkness in your tortured soul?

I play one every now and then, and have liked quite a few - Jak and Daxter, the Sonic Adventure Games, Mario 64. But yeah, normally I don't bother with them, especially with a jam-packed holiday season, I'd rather spend my money on COD4, Mass Effect, Orange Box, Assassin's Creed and Crysis.

Far more interesting and innovative than CoD4?

While class based multiplayer has been around for a while, CoD4 brings a new approach to it with the perks and level of customization and variety you can have with them. Halo may be the most popular FPS online right now, but CoD4 is the best.

Neither Halo nor CoD4 nor any other class-based war game are as innovative as Portal. Portal brings an entirely new spin to the FPS genre that hasn't been seen before, ever. I'm not saying the former two aren't good games, they just don't transcend the genre the way Portal does.

If they were to make a full fledged game out of it, then maybe, but as is, its just not enough.

Prey.

Oh I know that it won't get any GOTY's, but I was just saying it was very well recieved. I meant it was just amoung the great number of games that got 9-10's for averages.

Half of the puzzles aren't really all that challenging.

But they are fun. Half the fights in HL2 aren't too challenging, but the whole game is fun.
