Well, POTC2 is 165 mins, so I doubt it will make more than $100m opening weekend.

Besides SR has less time lenght.

And as we know, there were many people who have already seen it, so no matter how huge will POTC2 be, SR will get very high numbers.

after seeing superman returns for the third time, and loving it still (it's easily my favorite superhero film, and definately in my top 10 of all time) i think pirates will win the box office, despite not being as good a flick.

superman isn't the kind of film people (and when i say people, i primarily mean teenagers and people taking their kids) are going to flock to in droves after the word of mouth gets out how serious it is. it really is a 'film' as opposed to just another 'movie'.

I'm sorry but a true "film" doesn't have the main character just floating around without saying anything and it also doesn't revolve around one of the dumbest plots (New Krypton) in recent history. Superman Returns was a joke in almost all aspects...and I'm talking performances, plot, and action combined. SR tries to get by on nostalgia and visuals but that's not going to carry this movie anywhere. I expect word-of-mouth for this movie to be poor.

POTC2 is going win with $90-100m opening weekend and $340-360m in total.

Well, as I think, POTC2 will make $93m opening weekend, because it has 160 mins lenght.

Anyway, I think it will make $339m domesticly and $805m in worldwide.

I think around this time last year there was all this stuff on the Hype about Batman Begins and would it beat ROTS at the box office. I think I posted something like, who gives a flying **** at a rolling doughnut, as long as the movie is good. Someone told me to calm down. IMDB is reporting that SR made 21 million which is good, but around half Spiderman 2 and ROTK' opeing days (opening 2 days?), which are sequels. The Pirates sequel will beat SR. The SR sequel will beat Pirates' 2 and The Devil STILL wears Prada or Garfield 3: No Retreat No Surrender or whatever is going on a year or two down the track. I loved SR and am looking forward to Pirates, Bring It On!

What's your favorite movie? Fantastic Four? Punisher? Blade III?

My favorite movie is The Crow. Fantastic Four looked so mediocre I've never even bothered to watch it. The Punisher doesn't even rate in my Top 15 comic movies of all-time. And my lambasting of Blade Trinity is well documented.

And be my guest and try to defend Lex Luthor's assinine plot that consists of.....

taking over the world by creating an inhabitable continent so he can charge people to live on a New Krypton. And of course the stupid part about this plan is he says it'll kill "billions". So ummm, who's going to be left alive to pay him to live on this black rock? And where are they going to get the money from? Is Luthor going to have a bank on this rock after he sinks the rest of the country? He doesn't even have food, water, a place to sleep on NK. He didn't even bring extra fuel for his helicopter to get OFF his black rock which is why he ends up stranded on an island in one of the DUMBEST endings I've ever seen for a villain. This is not the plan of a serious, intelligent Lex Luthor. This is the kind of plan (and ending) you see in a damn spoof like Austin Powers. Lex is a *****in idiot in this movie.

And the worst part is it takes a big part of the movie just to even see Luthor's plan executed. They could have spent the time more wisely on something like character development....you know, to perhaps give Supermannequin something more to do than float around, lift things and say throw-away lines like "Goodnight Lois", "Goodbye Lois", "Are you alright", blah.

By all means defend this stupid movie until you're blue in the face. It won't change what it is....
