Man of Steel vs. Pirates- who wins box office?

If SR's budget was $150 million then 86 mil for an opening weekend would be decent, since they're already more than halfway to grossing the film's budget. But they're no-where near making back all the money they spent on it, and with Pirates 2 coming out next week it's going to be even harder. Heads will roll over this film if the studio takes a hit for it.

i know what's what i'm saying. plus you gotta figure they spen atlest a 100 million on marketing this movie. thats about 360 more what ever else they spent.

Me and all my posse loved X-Men 3, but the reaction to SR was much less enthusiastic.

let's just say when i saw X3 people where most excited at the trailers for Ghost Rider and Snakes on a plane teaser. which got the biggest ovation out of all the trailers.

if pirates has mediocre boxoffice like SR's opening...it will prove that it has nothing to do with how good or bad...but rather, how americans are feeling the impact of the poor state of our economy...ticket prices, gas etc....then if POTC2 blows SR out of the water...well, okay SR will be a terrible movie in the eyes of the public

yes he was way off base on the SR opening. he also said X3 would make between 75 to 80 million. and it made way more than that in 3 days compared to supes's 5 day total. so there lucky it was a 5 day total or Supe's would have made 40 to 50 mill the first 3 days.

yes X3 made 120 mill in 3 days compared to supe's 86 million in 5 days.

with that i wonder how much X3 could have made in 5 days if it was released on a wednesday like "the man of steel"

Yup. If the economy was keeping people from watching movies, X3 would not have had a record-breaking opening, and people would not have gone to The Da Vinci Code in droves despite the bad reviews. Superman had a bad opening because most people didn't think it was that great, and word of mouth is spreading to either wait for the DVD or skip it-- not to mention that only the hardcore fanboys are going to it multiple times.

1. There is one of the biggest fanbases.
2. Even haters will go to see it, because they have interst how bad will be this movie. I am sure they will notn like it, because they are haters.
3. SR have enough action sequences, there is no place for supervillian.
4. In competition with POTC2, SR will amaze people, because it will be great movie.
5. It also will have good WOM.
6. People don't think SR will make more than $300m and even beat POTC2, because they are always wrong.

As I can see it...
1. SR - $335m
2. Da Vinci Code - $301m
3. POTC2 - $275m
4. Cars - $273m
5. X3 - $226m (hey, not bad here! )
