Man of Steel vs. Pirates- who wins box office?

Am I the only one who's prepared for a decent but not spectacular weekend for Pirates especially after MI3, Cars, Da Vinci Code, X-3, SR? Seriously is Pirates that much better of a movie than all these?

There's a ton of reports coming out about advanced ticket sales flying at ridiculous, Sith-like paces. Yes, it looks to be pretty darn big. You have to remember: the first film was a sleeper blockbuster and many many people loved it. The films you listed above each had major problems in their way that Pirates seemingly doesn't. I don't know.

Da Vinci Code: Did Good, Great Overseas
Xmen 3, Did good, Great weekend but terrible legs.

The other films this year like Click and others have done pretty good.

SR: Below expectations.
POTC2: Dont know yet but should be awsome to see.

I doubt it will happen, but it might come close to Spider-man 2's BO (but surpassing it? no...).

I think POTC2 will make about $371m domesticly, $511m in overseas and $882m in worldwide.

POTC2 will definitely beat SR this week, and probably the week after. It'd be interesting to see how much business POTC2 cut into SR, since it will determine whether SR will have legs or not.

Really, X3 have very huge opening and should have already made $250,. But it stuck with $230m.

SR didn't have good opening, but now it makes not so low numbers.

I think it has chance to get to $200m and even more.

BOM was expecting ROTS to break Spidey's records with $131m, but it didn't.

Now BOM is expecting POTC2 to does it with $116m, I doubt it will do that.

Boxofficemojo is predicting that it will top Spider-Man's opening weekend. AHOY! I don't think so, even if you take it SM3 (with Venom, who though not my favorite is mass audience's favorite villain of the Marvel universe) will tkae it right back next May.

And of course there is Aquaman to consider....I love Entourage.

Oh and btw I find it funny that all the ones saying we'd eat crow and that SR winning in this poll was proof positive which would make more disappeared (except for Cin. who maturally and respectablly admitted he was wrong, something you don't see much around here) and in the poll Pirates is all of a sudden winning.....

Oh well. I'm seeing the movie either tonight or tomorrow night and hope it is good as the first (screw the critics). We'll see though.

Yeah I notiuced that Disney rolled out a new logo for this film. Even my sister, who if you were to meet her you would realize is not the most observant person, noticed it.
