Man of Steel vs Thor TDW, seen 'em both, what do you folks think ? Compare/contrast

Does Thor have Super-Speed?

http://www.comicvine.com/thor/4005-2268/forums/does-thor-have-super-speed-571419/

Note- from my view, even if he uses superspeed in a fight,he still could be beat by others in marvel so he is not absolutely unstoppable because there are others just as fast or faster and as strong or stronger etc..
So that was fanboy talk but everything else he said seems to BE right.

Dude, I don't even know how to reply to where you're going with all of this. I have seen Thor take out Quicksilver a few times, but not with super-speed, like this....
2787230-1608652_thor_vs_quicksilver_01_super.jpg

That had nothing to do with super-speed, it had to do with being
crafty -which is a much better way to explain Thor's combat skills. Nice move Thor.

Back to the movies (which is what this thread was about) he has to jog down the street to catch up to Malekith. Super-speed, I think not.

Anyway, that's Thor for you. Same with Superman, change the writer and his abilities change - although Superman doesn't seem to acquire extra new powers as often as Thor does, but even that depends on which site you read.

I think we've gone as far as we can go with this subject......... what about the original topic, what were some of the things you liked about TDW ?

Well in the movies he has flying speed/superspeed and some reaction speed with his hand but only with his hammer, not running speed.
So i guess we have to agree to disagree.

Oh yeah i did see your other thread, but anyway let's move on.

Back to the topic.

It's amazing that only the folks that hate or do not like at all thor 2 and mos tends to be mostly on the internet.

Almost everybody i know in real life liked MOS,BUT I only know one person that was disappointed in it.

It's weird he does not have a real answer to why he was disappointed.

He knows SOMEBODY too that was disappointed but i don't know that person.
Maybe one day he will give me a clear answer why he was disappointed in film but for some there are those who may never have one.
He said the movie okay but like i said he disappointed.
If batman vs superman is better then i think mos would be more understood why it went the way it did.

Same thing for thor 2.
I like it alot.
I know somebody who did not like it as much because that person said it had too much talking and not enough action.

I mention they were not paying enough attention or maybe they miss some parts,or/and maybe got distracted by some of the unnecessary comedy, but thor 2 has alot of action, more then i thought it was going to have.

I told someone else a while ago for some reason i was not that excited for thor 2 at the time,i guess because of ironman 3 ruined the mood, but i knew i would like it as much or more then thor 1.
Now the first thor movie i was really excited like i was with MOS.

I WAS MORE EXCITED FOR MOS at the time WHEN COMPARING THOR 2, HOWEVER not because i think it would be better but it was the start or the first film of a future shared superhero universe in DC AND SINCE marvel started one first, the next thor film and iron man 3 just did not excite me as much even with war machine.

By the way war machine i like more then thor or superman.

WAR MACHINE i knew was not going to have a big enough part for me anyway so that's one of the reason i was not as excited.

NOW WATCHING THOR 2 i think like it as much as MOS.

Two Great movies but let us hope that batman vs superman and thor 3 are better movies to shut the critics up much more so and those who hated another reboot of superman in the first place.

My top favorite superheros by the way are blue marvel and GL john stewart.
First blue marvel then john stewart.

Before it was john stewart for awhile but after reading more about blue marvel and having his bio info sink in my head more so recently he became my first top favorite superhero over john stewart.

Those two i want to see have A solo movie or a number of solo movies or be in upcoming live action DC AND MARVEL team up MOVIE/s movies,or live action tv OR ALL OF THEM.

Blue marvel needs to show up in animation down the road too.

Who are your top 2 favorite superheros?and who are your top in DC AND MARVEL?

Which Marvel is the blue Marvel ? I get my marvels mixed up from time to time.

As for my favourite super-heroes, I like the classics,
Superman and Batman.

As for Marvel
I used to read X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spider man, a long, long time ago, but not really anymore. I did really enjoy Thor back in the 80's when Walt Simonson was drawing and writing the stories, but since then I gave up on
the big blond Thunder God.

but that's just me.

Other very top favorite superheros of mine.
This list below could change in the future but for now this it.

These are a tie,but 3rd.
Icon, powerbolt/former name powerman,(a nigerian type captain marvel/superman) and maxam.

My 4th is,and a tie.
Synch, firestorm( jason rusch) and the original black panther.

Now my favorite top comics.
Blue marvel solo comics, mighty avengers comics and john stewart SOLO comics including green lantern corps and then any other comics these superheroes are in.
In other words i focus on the comics they are normally in and then other comics they are guest stars in.
I go first or focus first on the comics my very top favorites are normally at.

Now my favorite super hero team comic, first the new mighty avengers comic.
Then the avengers and justice league comics are about a tie.

The first one is first because blue marvel is normally in it and then it's a superhero team with mostly folks of color in it as the main superheros.

The other two just to find out what is going on with other superheros as much as possible that i do not normally read.
With justice league comics of course it helps that one of my top favorites is a normal member, and that's firestorm.

For the avengers it helps that one of the most powerful superheros is a black woman, who is the new captain universe.

Here some interesting talk about who should/may appear in the upcoming in the justice league movies or upcoming DC movies.

Icon movie could be possible?

I was wondering do YOU check the batman vs superman threads/forums since they are your top favorites and the justice league forum/threads too?
The reason i ask because i don't remember you there.
Interesting talk going on there.

I don't go on many threads besides Man of Steel and Misc comic book movies.

The discussion on the B v S: D of J thread is very much about what
people would like to see, or what they think they'll see.

I find it much easier to discuss/compare films that are already out.

Although I always put in my two cents about who should be cast for
what.

My last post was about how if the Joker is going to appear in a movie
soon he should be played by Nicolas Cage, as he's the craziest actor
in Hollywood.

BTW - if you're interested in african and african-american superheroes
you should check out Earth 2, as the new Superman (of Earth 2 ) is
an Afro-Kryptonian (since the original Superman turned evil).

cheers.

cheers.

I know,i posted that info awhile ago in the black panther thread in the marvel forum and even in the link i posted above in the icon link above.
The term would be just black or african looking Kryptonian since there is no africa on Krypton.

There are even asian looking ones too.
There was one asian looking one in man of steel.
She was the one that put lois lane in prison in the ship and later tried to stop or kill her after jor-el help her escape.
The actress is samantha jo,she played Kryptonian Car-Vex.

By the way there is even info i posted about a black superman on earth- d.

Speaking of different things, folks who are into the comics have to realize that movie, and cartoons are not exactly going to be like the comics or most of them anyway.
The cartoons and movies or most so far are their own universes.

Check out the Multiverse worlds list for DC AND MARVEL.

Below is for DC,for marvel you could look up,but i posted the marvel Multiverse worlds in a another thread.
Interesting stuff.

Earth-2-24-Spoilers-Val-Zod-Superman-Batman-Red-Arrow-5.jpg

val-zod.jpg

I met Tom Taylor last weekend, when he was down here for a convention (which makes sense as he's Australian), anyway, he didn't tell me what happens next. But I suppose that Val-Zod looks like he'll take over as
Superman of Earth 2.

Fair enough. There's no reason that Superman can't be black.
What would be an interesting story would be if a different child, one who was black, escaped Krypton and landed on Earth, in the USA, when segregation was still in force.

There's a thread about what happens when you change a well known hero's ethnicity. Sometimes it works really well, like when John Stewart took over as Green Lantern, sometimes it sort of works (did the HIspanic Spider-Man do well with fans ? I never found out) and sometimes it sucks (like the Mandarin in Iron Man 3) .

If that sort of discussion interests you , you should have check it out.

cheers.

Yeah i know about val-zod.
He is more recent.
That's one of info i post in the links above.

Here is his bio.

Val-Zod (Character) - Comic Vine
http://www.comicvine.com/val-zod/4005-96509/

Speaking of spiderman, there is one that is Hispanic or latino but from the future.
Spider-Man 2099
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man_2099

The other who is black Hispanic.

Spider-Man (Miles Morales)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man_(Miles_Morales)

I remember the 2099 Spider Man, Miguel O'Hara, I think his name was. He was pretty cool ( I bought that comic when it came out, and I enjoyed it at the time.....wayyyy back in 1991 or so.)

As for Miles Morales, is he still Spider-Man ? I remember a lot of controversy when Peter Parker died (well Ultimate Peter Parker) I stopped reading Spider man before all that stuff with the clones and Ben Parker, and all that other crap - as in, "who is the real spider man?" that stuff wasn't really necessary IMO.

What I think would have been better would be to have a hispanic character just be his own super-hero ( well, I guess it worked for Green Lantern, but then the Green Lanterns were always a group, so there could be more than one).

Having said that, I think the Val-Zod Superman is a good idea, and why not ?

Speaking of thor related news and new powerful black superheros.

I just found out about this today.

Strength level
Supposedly mightier than Thor

Man of Steel mines it's source material to come up with new ways and ideas to present Superman, Krypton et al onscreen.

Thor and Thor 2 completely fail to translate the immense creativity and majesty of Jack Kirby's imagination into movies.

Thor 2 is the worst experience I've ever had in a movie theatre, so this was an easy vote for me.

I had different expectations going into each film. But I go with MOS.

That's awesome! Would be nice if this character could make his way into the MCU.

No competition, MOS is the vastly superior film in every way, hate Thor 2 as I hate IM 3.

This is a interesting debate too.
Check it out,all four pages.

Man of Steel vs Thor:The Dark World (3v3 THREAT)
http://www.comicvine.com/forums/bat...hor-the-dark-world-3v3-threat-1511708/?page=1

Thanks Mace,

I started a thread for a similar thing, but just MOS Superman v TDW Thor.

I started this thread more for a movie comparison, but it turned into a "vs"
thread, which is okay, hey threads evolve.

A lot of what was discussed on the "vs" thread came out on the comic vine boards as well.

Here's my opinion .............lots of people disagree (usually Thor fans, surprise surprise), but here's my opinion anyway.

Speed came up a lot as the decisive factor, but personally, I don't think Thor has shown any feats of strength or invulnerability in his films that suggest he could go toe to toe with Superman.

True, Thor's a better fighter, but he got hit by a big Rock, got knocked down and then Kurse pounded on him. The only hitting Thor was doing there was hitting Kurse's fists with his face.

Superman got hit by a train thrown from a mile away, and walked away without a scratch. Yes, Thor got scraped against a mountain by Iron man, but Superman fell out of orbit, while being punched by Zod and was unharmed. Thor got stabbed by a dagger and bled....Superman took cannon fire to the face without a scratch.

Thor fought Kurse, who is at least as powerful as he is, and got stomped.
Superman, fought two beings as powerful as himself and while getting beat up at first, eventually made a comeback. Even then, compare Superman vs Zod, with Thor vs Kurse, not even close.

But that's just my opinion, there are plenty of arguments for why Thor would beat Superman, and if you read some sources Thor can pretty much do anything (like throw his hammer faster than the speed of light, transmute elements and fire God-blasts, I wonder if he can shoot bolts of lightning from his ass......hmmmmm).

However, having seen movie Thor, he's nowhere near as powerful as comic book Thor, everyone who claims he beat the Hulk wasn't watching that fight carefully at all, because it's all Thor can do not to get squashed. And Thor is definitely on the bottom when the F-22 jet distracts the Hulk.

Personally, I prefer movie Thor, because you actually feel that he's in danger, he's not as perfect as comic book Thor. I thought him getting beat up by Kurse was a good thing.

MOS Superman vs movie Hulk, now that would be really close.

As far as teams.......... Supes and Zod and Faora......well that would be them hands down, mostly because of Faora - given her fighting skills and speed.

Also, Zod and Supes both can fly and have heat vision.

And to end that rant here's this................
1145935-superman_vs_thor.jpg

But hey, that's just my opinion. Really, we'll never know, and Superman fans and Thor fans are never going to agree.

No competition, MOS is the vastly superior film in every way, hate Thor 2 as I hate IM 3.

With you there, in that I thought MOS was a better movie, and that IM 3 was crap, but having said that I still really enjoyed Thor 2, I thought it was a lot of fun, yes the universe was going to be destroyed but there were still some funny moments (Thor takes the Subway) and great action set pieces
(although not as epic-feeling as MOS). I enjoyed Thor 2 at least as much as Avengers (well, except for Darcy, could have used a lot less of her).

I didn't think Malekith a particularly great villain (which was weird, as Chris Ecclestone is usually fantastic as bad guys) he and Zod had pretty much the same motivation, to restore their worlds (although Malekith is committing genocide on a much bigger scale). The Aether was a bit weird, as if it really had the power to wipe out the universe it should have made short work of Thor - hmmmmmm.
Also, Hiddleston, the guy stole the movie. Loki is the one Marvel character
who just gets better every time you see him. RDJ stays pretty much the same as IM, Cap is pretty consistent (yawn), but Loki gets a bit more interesting each time.

Anyway, Thor TDW was a lot of fun, just IMO.

And of course they didn't have Malekith turn out to be an actor, while the real villain was Darcy all along. Man I still can't watch IM 3 again without feeling ripped off.

Just my opinion though, if people liked it, that's cool.

Peace out Super-fans :super:

I still disagree with you of course Batmannerism.

That link i posted is a interesting thread with a lot of interesting arguments from both sides,do you agree Batmannerism?:woot:
Did you read up the last page?

I am on side of rudebomberboy01 and others like him in that thread however.
Fun and interesting to read i have to admit.:yay:

Let's move,on.
I will HAVE something else for you after this post.
ANOTHER BATTLE AND I WANT TO GET YOUR VIEW ON THIS.

As for the ironman 3,yes ironman 3 had alot of action but the story and action was not as exciting as MOS and THOR 2.

Oh and i mention this in another thread, but i am not really a superman fan anymore, and i am not even a thor fan anymore, but their stories still interest me enough and i will watch the shows, the movies, read the comics given a chance etc...etc..

The stories and action are fun to read and watch and i really LIKE the powersets.
