Welcome to the SuperHeroHYPE Fan Art Contest!

THE CONTEST:
HEROES – As in NBC's smash hit TV series!
The show features everyday people with incredible superpowers... But they lack the one thing that truly makes them a superhero - a COSTUME!
Here is your chance to design a real comic book styled "superhero' costume for your favorite HERO - capes, cowls, tights, boots & utility belts the works!

You can check out the official NBC Heroes site HERE for all the character bios etc.

THE RULES:
One entry per artist. Try and be as ORIGINAL as possible, do it in pencil, crayon, markers, action figures, Photoshop whatever medium you are comfortable with. Using art/photo reference is okay, I just don't want to see anyone directly COPY an existing piece of ARTWORK... PHOTO-MANIPS are allowed this month! Your entry should be posted HERE in this thread. Using artwork created by someone else and claiming it as your own will not be allowed - and that entry will be disqualified. Originality is always key!
(*)If you are banned at the close of the contest your entry will be disqualified!

And please keep the comments and critiques as FAIR as possible. Remember by posting your entry you are open to critique!

ONE ENTRY PER ARTIST!
Take your time and show 'em your best work, try to avoid posting works-in-progress. (Any duplicate entries may be deleted without notice from the thread). You may want to check the thread occasionally to see that your entry is still posted, any entries not showing at the close of the contest may be disqualified. Also if you choose to 'team-up' with another artist then you must clearly state both names with the entry and who did what.

IMAGE HOSTING
All entries should be posted here in this thread.
You will need to host your own image and 'hotlink' the image URL to this thread.
SHH has a gallery HERE if you need FREE hosting space (for contest entries only please)
I will assemble the entries as they come in and post them in the SHH Fan Art Gallery.

March 29, 2007 - (contest closes midnight PST on the 26th)
Winner will be chosen by the artists in FAN ART - via a special voting gallery!

this is funny cuz I actually had a dream awhile ago where Peter and Nathan were wearing costumes similar to the Fantastic Four movie costumes but they were green instead of blue. It gave me the idea to manip that but I'm just not that big of fan of the show so I don't really care. But good luck to everyone else though.

This contest has been done other places before, but seeing as it is Heroes, I'll give it a shot. I don't like the idea of giving them costumes (even though Peter Petrelli had a dream he was wearing one) simply on the basis that one of the writers said in an interview he didn't want to go that route because the show is intended to focus on average people and what they would do with the powers. Once they don the cape, I believe he said, and start becoming like Batman or Superman they lose their humanities and what we can associate with. They become more of figures.

Okay, that was a bit of an unnecessary rant, because this is just a fun idea and I am DEFINITELY going to enter.

Not complete by any means. I wanted to do someone few people might try, and I'm a big Dr. Who fan, so Claude it is. His "costume" is going to be more along the lines of a company-issued uniform, helping him to retain a semblance of his powers should he ever lose control over them. I'll explain more when the whole thing is up.

I like how you added the RNA-strand symbol thing onto his glasses. I made a costume for Syler in class today, or at least the early stages of one, and a lot of it has to do with the whole DNA/evolution theme.

it was in this current issue of wizard. and the winner did ILLUSTRATOR pieces that looked good enough to be real, and he did outfits that were "REALISTIC" which is what makes heroes soo good! Nothing over the top!

Sorry gang, was unaware of the Wizard HEROES contest when I posted this...

At any rate, I really want to see some crazy costumes... just let your mind go wild... don't be put off that the TV show is 'reality' based - they are freak'n superheroes - they need their spandex just like anyone else!

The Feb Ghost Rider contest was one of the least entered contest in fan art history... I would hate to see the lack of interest in these contests continue!

liking the Peter. Can't wait to see it finished. Good perspective and action.

My only crit is a compositional thing, the placement of his right hand is right at the corner of both buildings which can create a focus as everything leads to that point. I would either just the arm or reposition him slightly just to take reduce that focus a bit.
