Seeing as how smoking is one of the leading cause of health-related deaths
and alcohol is the largest contributor for vehicular accidents and wreckless behavior, I don't see those two substances being legal creates a winning argument for legalizing marijuana.

Society is better off having the least number of people using marijuana as possible. Everyone wants to talk about "civil rights", but we're all paying millions in tax dollars for people who are in critical condition due to their horrible addictions to alcohol and cigarettes.
Your "civil right":whatever: is creating a burden on me and everyone else. I don't see the reason for legalizing destructive behavior.

I'm not saying we should ban smoking or alcohol. However, many businesses, college campuses, and even entire countries are moving towards creating a 100% smoke-free environment because they see the long term advantages of removing that carcinogen out of our environment. Having more stoned people in the population isn't doing a service to anyone.
If I want to use a mind altering substance in the privacy of my own home it's none of your business and none the government's business. It's my mind and body NOT yours, so back off.

Throwing people in jail for obtaining a plant which is less addictive and harmful than alcohol or cigarettes is far more destructive than the plant itself.

And there are far worse things than being stoned like being a narrow-minded prude. What a waste of energy and time.

And if I don't want to Smoke it and I don't want you soking it near me and polluting me...well it's My body so BACK OFF!

And yes, it is the governments business because as of now it is illegal,

I can't kill hookers just cause I do it in my house.....Believe me.:(

The two best times to smoke a blunt:

1) after work
2) first thing on a Sunday morning

You have legs. Use them to get away from someone who is smoking

I'm glad to see at least one other person shares my opinion.

As for your Smoke Free Comment, it's happening all over Canada, Edmonton went Non Smoking a year ago, No restaurants or bars or anything allow smoking, even on patios.

Also Every Marriott Hotel in North America went Non Smoking on Sept 16 of thi year, Now I don't agree with that at all but that's a whole other thing, but Westin Hotels also went Non Smoking.

Anyway, Legalizing MJ is bad for society because it is gonna put people out of work. You think all the dealers who currently make a lot of money selling Marijuana ae just gonna say "OH well I guess I'll get a job now" Hells no, they are gonna be out of work and they are gonna have to push MJ on Younger folks that can't just go to the store and buy it OR they are gonna kick it up a notch and have to get folks hooked on something they can't but easily. They are gonna start pushing Coke or Heroin or Meth (All far worse than MJ) and that is gonna be worse for everyone.

Some folks Smoke weed but they only do it cause it's Illegal (Well that's not the only reason) bu the rush of Illigality makes it better. I know drinking was better before I was 18 (Yeah it's 18 up here) So they are gonna movie up to something iliegal (See above)

So I think they should leave MJ illegal to prevent the escalation of a larger drug problem and stop being so hard on weed smokers, so that folks can all quit whining.

Basically Legalize it without legalizing it. Dealers will still sell it and will still be cracked down on for selling to minors, but posseion charges will be lessened greatly and just not taken as seriously.

How's that sound?

And that proves a point right there. You guys may not think weed is that bad but it definatelly should not be used while driving, it impares you.

Just saying that just because you are in your home doesn't mean you can do things that are illegal.

I will change my statement

I cannot assault Hookers in my own home.

You really think it's just as easy to get get large amounts of coke to resale as it is to sell weed?

It takes quite a bit of connections to know the makers of coke whilst anybody with a pot and some soil can make weed.

yeah..it makes me drive slower and makes me more cautious while switching lanes...watch out everyone...there's a madman out on the streets tonight!!

where there's a will....

You idiot, you have to know a cartel that trusts you and is willing to ship you the amount you want.
If you can grow a potted plant you can grow weed.

Assualting someone still hurts another person where as smoking weed only effects the person who chooses to smoke.

yeah...coke people are a lot scarier than weed people...

Meth people are the scariest, they can go totally psycho on you.

The other problem with legalizing marijuana IMo is that it would have to be instantly prohibited at a majority of places much like ciggarettes are now. While people's main gripe is that second hand smoke form ciggarettes is that it can cause you to cough and eventually give you lung cancer if exposed enough, marijuana has more of a direct effect. The second hand smoke can get people high that were otherwise unwilling, and while that isn't nearly as bad as teh long term affect of cigs, it is more idrectly apparent, which means they would come under fire just as much.

The only way I could see it ever working out would be if it was legal, but only in private residences and specific smoking lounges. If that were the case, then I would be fine with it, but just outright making it legal IMO wouldn't last very long befoer some major problems started to arise.

I hope you get drugged and sold to a Ukrainian guy that tortures people like in Hostel.:csad:

haha man that dude is wound up tight man...he needs some booty or a dooby. or in his case...i think he might need both.

From an economic point of view, I am all for its legalization - it would pump a bunch of money into the government that would be used to form crime (and sometimes terrorism). Also a reason I am not against the leagalization of prostitution (B_F would be proud).

Not only that, but considering it is not nearly as harmful to you as booze or tabacco - I see no reason for it shouldn't be legal.

I was thinking a bottle of sleeping pills and a nine milimeter, but that's just me.

apparently, roughneck thinks smoking marijuana is like smoking weed, tobacco, crack, and drinking alcohol..........simultaneously.

clearly he don't know ftw he's talkin' bout.

anyway....i think if marijuana were legalized, it would save the world! :D

Fact - Dn't ****ing say Marijuana is Harmless, I have seen too many friends throw theirl lives away and become the human equivalent of a runny **** because of Marijuana and only Marijuana, so Dont ****ING tell me it's Harmless.

this "fact"reeks of OPINION.
I have friends that smoked Marihuana.
I SMOKED marihuana ( and inhaled, eat THAT one Clinton!!!)
Nothing happened to me. I have seen people become the "human equivalent of a runny nose" over many things, including but not limited to

  • television
  • porn
  • televised porn
  • videogames
  • rock and roll bands
  • music
  • movies
  • books
all of them 100% legal. so ****ing what? many of my friends that smoked are now in good jobs having good lives.
where's our ****ing commercial?
"I smoked marihuana and...well, nothing happened to me, thanks bye"

gawd, sometimes my eyes do NOT roll back far enough.

that's the 2nd time within the last week i've seen the whole "my friend's lives where ruined" excuse from someone who obviously doesn't know anything about marijuana...

...of course it's their FRIEND and not themselves who's lives are ruined, if they had actually experience the effects of weed they wouldn't be saying that crap.
