The Rise of Skywalker Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker (IX)

Mark certainly was a gifted in the art of fencing. To bad we didn't get to see it again in the sequel trilogy.

The major problem is that most of the fans do not care about the new characters while the old ones were promptly killed off or badly written.

One of my friends sent me this. Didn't even know about it, but I'm definitely getting it! I liked a lot of the stories from the novel.

The manga anthology inspired by Ken Liu’s hit Star Wars novel, Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi: The Legends of Luke Skywalker. Luke Skywalker? I thought he was a myth. – Rey Who is Luke Skywalker? Across the galaxies many have heard his name, but few have met the legendary Jedi. There are those who call him a merciless war criminal—others say he’s not even a human, but a droid! Whether he is myth or man, those who claim they’ve encountered the elusive Luke Skywalker all have an unforgettable adventure to share. Star Wars: The Legends of Luke Skywalker—The Manga pairs powerhouse Japanese manga creators with inspiring myths about Luke Skywalker, originally written as a prose novel by best-selling author Ken Liu.

I saw that Saturday. I considered buying it until I saw the $14.99 price tag. I'm not really a fan of Manga and I know nothing about the story. Like is it standalone, a collection of a continuation. So I chose to pass until I could find more out about it.

Its basically various mini stories of kids retelling tales of the heroics Luke Skywalker performed but with different point of view.

this concept art of Luke catching Kylo's blade with his hand , and the one of him training Rey as a force ghost would have been way better than what we got

I'd say no but since TLJ establishes force ghosts can now affect the material world...

The "afterlife" in general was always a bit wonky when it came to star wars.
But if i remember correctly, Obi Wan could affect the world in Return of the Jedi too on Dagobah.
Okay he just got the vines or so to sway, but he could affect it when walking past it.

I was trying to figure out why he looked weird during his whole Force Ghost scene.

My wife thought he looked really stoned during that sequence because his eyes were sort of focused past Rey. The wig was really terrible though.

While it’s a cool sequence on paper and theory, I still like Luke appearance in Rise Of Skywalker.

That pic of Luke is so awesome. I'm bitterly disappointed.

I can't believe we got a throw-away cameo that felt like a hasty reshoot (I wonder why). Did Hamill burn some bridges or something? Maybe he was just done with it.

I dont believe i saw him being anything but respectfull since TLJ, i know he wasnt the biggest fan of TLJs direction and all, but he never said a bad word about star wars or so.

At this point i dont want to assume anything about the why or how, the rumors and all about the reshoots and stuff are too wonky for me to make assumptions.
But yeah, having the "final" movie and then have Luke in such a small role...thats a dissapointment.

That's because they shouldn't have killed Luke off in Last Jedi.

I dont know about that, i heard a lot of fans in their own ideas etc kill off luke in TFA, TLJ or ROS.
So people were mostly fine with luke dying one way or the other.

And its not like they couldnt have used him as force ghost, kind of like the idea of a constant force ghost teacher around until the padawan is ready.

So i dont think that was the worst, but yeah...i wouldnt have killed off luke at all.
Again, i think i keep going until a movement starts...Star Wars Multiverse...make it a thing Disney you cowards.

That doesn't really matter in this series. Hamill was never gonna be jumping around swinging a sword, so he might as well be a ghost. You can still do all the interesting character stuff, and maybe explore that whole 'life beyond death' aspect a bit too.

I imagine they would not have killed Luke if there was any way they could have known that they wouldn't have Leia for the last movie.

They had plenty of time and ways to have known.

I wouldn't mind that he died in TLJ.

I minded him dying without accomplishing anything rather than giving the Ressistance some time to escape the FO (which wouldn't be needed if Rose didn't pull her dumb and pointless stunt in the first place).

Luke died because he used a little too much force. He died alone on an island without really doing anything in the ST - that's my biggest disappointment.

Which is why he shouldn't have died yet. Give him a chance to actually do something heroic again.

My Hero Academia understands this. It's all about training and empowering the next generation of heroes, but the older generation is still allowed to shine and have a victory to show why and how they got to where they were in the first place.

You can basically boil down the show to the idea that a version of Superman has to retire and train and pick his replacement. And not a Zack Snyder Superman. A pure goodhearted truth justice symbol for peace and righteousness Superman who understands that carrying such lofty ideals is a heavy burden and what that means, a legend who lives up to the legend. So what happens when Superman isn't dead but has to wind down and find a genuine successor?
