Superman Returns Mark Millar's thoughts on the movie . . .

The fact is whats the point of coming here on a regular basis just to spread negativity about the movie. It wont change anything. It wont accomplish anything.

Its good to express your opinion once (regarding how you perceive it so far, regardless of how unjustified it may be...given how little we know)... but it just seems pointless to keep coming back day after day to only post negative opinions. The project is completed. If the person puts so much value in their early opinions and doesnt believe they are a fan of the movie, then why are they even here?

Attention?

Most likely..

hes an artist right?

what makes him an expert just because he can draw superman..this is a seperate medium..which he knows nothing about. and singer does.

He's a writer not an artist and he isn't claiming to be an expert he just gave his view

Hes bi-polar. Initially he was upset at Singer getting this film and now he was glad Bryan got it.

I know..

but as a writer,i'm sure he thinks he should be listend above all. ego and all that.

It's Millar's opinion, that's all.

I mean, I do understand what he is saying. You know how some people are like "Superman is boring?" I don't think that this movie will change their perception of Supes.

In other words, the movie is too 'safe', instead of actually venturing out and basing the movie on a comic book arc/influence. While the idea of Superman 'returning' is different, it's going down a direction of a safe 'different'. When I say that, I mean that Singer didn't do alot of research for the movie.

For example, I'm not expecting to see any 'easter eggs', or any links to STAR Labs, or whatever. And the movie-made villains (Kitty, Stanford) dont' help either. Deep down, I do want to see Brainaic or whatever BECAUSE we haven't seen any other legit threats besides Zod or Luthor on the big screen. I just hope that next time, they will have their moment to shine; they are part of the mythos as well.

However, it doesn't mean that it won't be a bad movie. Actually I'm looking forward to it. I believe it might be a stronger movie than X3, but we'll see. So far, Superman seems very polished. But it's very a 'old school' approach (ala Burton) where it's a very broad vision. I mean, I don't think we'll learn anything new from THIS Superman movie....

my only probelm with the trailer so far, like millar their isn't one scene that made me really reallyy want to go see this flick. I want to see it, but i also wanted to see Batman and Robin when it came out. The movie looks like another typical heroic adventure, it ironically feels like a normal story arc from action comics. With 186 million dollars, im sure they could have done something more.

I like a lot of Millar´s writing but I also think a lot of his dialogue sounds forced. I think he pushes it for pop culture references and jokes a bit much.

I agree a bit with his criticism about the trailer - it should have had at least one more "wow" money shot moment, I think, and Spacey was a bit over-the-top IMO - but I´m still looking forward very much to SR.

And was he sober when he wrote that? You know, he´s known for being a big time appreciator of the juice...

His comments are spot on. We aren't getting the film we hoped for, face it. The Donner classic lives on.

Nice to see you said your peace, now in how many threads?

Singer has been pretty honest since the beginnign about what teh film was goign to be : no supervillains, a backstory shared with the Christopher Reeve version, Lois has a kid ect. He has let everyone know from the start of production what he was doing. I'm just curious as to why everyone is acting so shocked by what he is doing now, so close to the release. Was the doubt this big back when he was first announced and started to talk about his plans?

What is the difference between coming here every day and saying "THIS MOVIE WILL ROCK!"?

He'd probably like the movie better if Superman became a communist in it.

You guys are being too harsh.......

Listen, it's the guys own WEBSITE. It's HIS WEBSITE. So......he's writing about things that interest him. It's like he went to WIZARD and yelled it from a mountaintop. It's not like he's force feeding us his opinion. No, because if he was.....he'd had used a different outlet, and been an actual prick about it.

The guys posted his personal feeling about the film.....don't rank on him for that just because you don't like it.

For what it's worth, he stated that he's worried.....and he stated he hopes he's wrong. Hell....he compared it to Batman Begins in terms of what the story may bring. That's a good thing.

I disagree with him things too, like Spacey "camping it up". I thought it was funny, but not campy. But....there's a huge debate on that as it is. And....c'mon.....he's obviously of the fanbase that wants a superpowered villian. There's fans HERE on that side of the street. Fans that want Superman to hit something and it something hard, so think about that.

And holy crap.....he hates the kid. What a surprise.

Everbody hates the kid. I hate the kid. You hate the kid. Everybody hates the kid. So....we're going to hate on Millar for saying it?

Millar has written for DC Comics, he's not JUST a Marvel guy, btw. He did write about a communist Superman.....lol.

Because this site is called Superherohype......for fans. I mean getting your negative opinions out for once is fine but people who come here everyday (among the fans) just to trash it on a regular basis...

Like seriously....thats pretty stupid.

I don't have a problem with what he has to say. He has just as much right as any of us to voice his opinion. Plus, Red Son was one of my favorite stories in the past five years.

Now theres an opinion that Im definatly interested in!

Waid says his favorite superhero movie remains the original Christopher Reeves Superman.

As for Bryan Singer's new Man of Steel movie: "I think it's going to be amazing. From what I've seen of the raw footage, they just get it. I mean, I really had goosebumps."

 :)

Red Son was great.
