Martial arts master: the official "Ray Park is Snake-Eyes" thread

that looks awesome!

and the people who disagree don't seem too much much of an argument other than... it looks TOO much like the comics? that's hilarious. oh no, fake muscles! wtf, the whole movie is fake... they're supposed to be real muscles in the real world of the movie. got that? mwahaha...

dude!? why does everyone love molded latex muscles? CLOTH! BODY ARMOR! realistic body armor, not sculpted muscle looking crap! you said it yourself, hes supposed to be a ninja! how is he supposed to have any flexibility in that? ugh

Batman seems to manage OK.

I hope the photos are a sign of things to come in so far as the rest of the film. Honestly the casting of Park and these photos are the only things that have made me feel good about this project.

Well, I guess he's the one guy who doesn't like it.

I love it, its the one thing they have gotten right so far. Storm Shadow BETTER look like his cartoon/marvel comic self and not the DDP crap.

snake eyes looks awesome... but the sculpted muscles look TACKY!!

i'm all for body armor, but why does he need fake looking sculpted muscles? and his shoulder joints are suffering from 'teh puffy' that the batman begins suit was so infamous for. why is it so hard to just have the suit split there so his arm can move without the suit bunching up?

but other than that? he looks friggin' bad ass. a definite step in the right direction for this movie.

WHOA..........DAMN.............JUST WHOA...

Another excuse for doing faithful comicbook costumes bites the dust....

First Spider-man, then Iron Man, now Snake Eyes...excellent job.

Not really. Some characters work, some don't. Wolverine would look ridiculous in yellow spandex in real life. Anyway, Snake looks awesome.

Dude, get over it. If sculpted muscles always looked this good, I'd never complain. This suit is 100% comics accurate and still people are whining. This is what gives fanboys a bad name. I hope no movie execs listen to this kind of stuff. I'm thrilled with this suit.

I think this is the first time the fake muscles have looked good. I say they really work with the more realistic stuff on him. I always hated the "teh puffy" argument. If it was cloth it'd be "teh wrinkles", if it was a flak vest it'd be "teh robocop". People are goona ***** and all film makers can do is roll with what fits their vision. This time that vision seems to satisfy 99% of the fans.

I really cannot understand how anyone could be disappointed with this...it's exactly like the comics!!!

People always have to find something to ***** about.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I love how Snake Eyes looks, but if they were to be this accurate with Scarlett's costume, I think that it would unfortunately induce a lot of laughter. The same goes for Batman wearing gray pajamas. Some costumes translate well into live action because they're already functional looking in the comic. However, some really do look pretty gawdy (like Wolverine), and in real life it would just look silly.

OK, just reading some of the whining posts from fanboys. Look, you are not going to get any closer to the comic than that. The next step is to simply use CGI and we all know how you feel about that. (See Hulk boards) Maybe they should have just spraypainted Ray Park black? Then there would be no fake muscles, although you'd probably complain he wasn't big enough. If the fanboys really think they can improve on this, then I suggest they get their collective butts out of their desk chairs, march yourselves out of mommy's basement, and go work in Hollywood and do a better job.

Keep in mind we haven't seen a movie Wolverine in yellow spandex yet.

After the Snake Eyes pics, I'm not so quick to judge anymore.

edit: Yes, I'm serious.

Being a huge Ray Park fan, added to the fact that I was a huge Snake Eyes fan back during G.I. Joe's heyday, this is a HUGE .

I wonder how Ray Park sees through that.
Imagine that moving like Darth Maul. It seems they got the coolest Joe prefectly right.

This is awesome, I'm very impressed.

He's a special forces NINJA!!! Unless the Military started employing full-on, honest-to-God ninjas, I think it's safe to say we're not really dealing with 100% reality here! This is a prime example of b*tches who b*tch for the sake of b*tching!!

Thank you. I think Park looks awesome as Snake-Eyes. Someone HAS to be ignorant of the character or looking for a fight to say otherwise.

Snake Eye's costume is just much more simple than Wolverine's. It's a black, bodytight, Ninja suit. That's much easier to accept in real life than a guy in blue/yellow spandex and a goofy mask.

Like someene else said; how does Ray see through that visor?
